Open Motors, formerly OSVehicle, advertises the TABBY EVO as assemblable “in just 1 Hour,” but that is the manufacturer’s claim—not an independently timed build. The company’s page does not define what the hour covers, specify a crew or tools, or explain whether it includes bodywork, inspection, and commissioning. TABBY EVO is best understood as a modular electric-vehicle development platform that teams can configure into a vehicle, not a guaranteed one-hour kit car.
What does “build in an hour” mean?
Open Motors describes TABBY EVO as “Designed for seamless assembly” and says it can be constructed “in the time it takes to watch a movie.” That is promotional wording from the TABBY EVO platform page. The company does not specify whether the hour refers to joining premanufactured modules, assembling the complete platform, fitting bodywork, or getting a vehicle inspected and ready to drive.
Accordingly, the claim should not be read as a promise that an inexperienced person can build a complete, safe, road-legal car in 60 minutes. The published material reviewed does not provide an assembly protocol, timed demonstration, crew size, or tool list to verify that interpretation.
What is the TABBY EVO?
TABBY EVO is an open, modular electric-vehicle platform intended as a starting point for custom EV development. Open Motors invites project teams and startups to use the platform to develop vehicles. The platform’s published components cover much of the rolling electric chassis, but the final body and some safety equipment depend on the customer’s design.

The company identifies EU L7e heavy quadricycles and L6e light quadricycles/US low-speed vehicles as supported categories, while listing traditional passenger cars as “coming soon.” Those categories do not establish that a particular vehicle built on TABBY EVO is approved for road use. The finished vehicle’s design and applicable local requirements determine what approvals and equipment it needs.

Open Motors publishes two platform configurations. The measurements, weight, and wheelbase below are manufacturer-stated figures, not independent measurements.

The four-seat version is longer and has a longer wheelbase, so it presents different packaging and body-design needs from the two-seat platform. These figures describe the platform configurations; they are not a guarantee of the completed vehicle’s final dimensions or weight.
Published performance and battery figures
The platform page lists a 19 kW asynchronous AC motor with 29.5 kW maximum power. It states a platform-only top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph), with up to 129 km/h (80 mph) depending on bodywork and low drag. Its stated platform-only range is 80 km (50 mi), with up to 120 km (75 mi) depending on bodywork and low drag. Open Motors says performance figures are for research and testing purposes and may vary; they are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified road-test results.

The platform page describes a battery pack of 24 LiFePO4 elements, 160 Ah and 82 V, with 12.8 kWh capacity. It states that charging can take up to seven hours at the listed input voltage/current. The TABBY EVO product page gives a different battery detail—185 Ah—and indicates that a configuration without a battery pack may be available. These pages therefore do not establish one definitive battery specification for every offering. Confirm the battery configuration, capacity, and charging details for the specific platform being quoted.
What comes with the platform—and what may not
The platform page’s included-components list names the frame/chassis, front and rear suspension, steering, braking, basic controls, CAN-bus cabling, two seats, wheels, rims and tires, batteries, battery management system (BMS), motor, motor controller, DC-DC converter, and battery charger. The page says the roll bar is not included and that other mandatory safety systems depend on the customer’s final design.

The product page describes unassembled and fully assembled supply options and indicates that battery availability can vary. Treat the component list as a starting point for a configuration check, not a guarantee that every item is included in every order. Before committing to a build, obtain the bill of materials for the selected configuration and clarify who supplies and installs the body, roll bar, and any safety equipment required by the final design.

An IMT Atlantique repository documents a Rennes team effort to build two TABBY EVO vehicles and links project materials. That record shows a team project, not a standardized consumer assembly time or proof that a particular configuration is currently supported.
