Nissan unveiled the fourth-generation Elgrand at Japan Mobility Show 2025, then launched it in Japan on July 16, 2026. The premium minivan pairs a motor-driven e-POWER hybrid system with e-4ORCE all-wheel control; Japanese prices start at ¥6,897,000, including consumption tax.
What Nissan showed at Japan Mobility Show 2025
Nissan presented the all-new, fourth-generation Elgrand as its premium minivan at Japan Mobility Show 2025. At the show, the company said a Japan launch was planned for summer 2026; the vehicle subsequently went on sale in Japan on July 16, 2026. The announcement and pricing establish a Japan-market launch, not a global rollout. Nissan describes the design concept as “The private MAGLEV.” Its launch materials cite a larger exterior than the predecessor, a grille inspired by the Japanese craft of Kumiko, matching lamp details, and a full-width rear combination lamp. The five paint choices include four monotone colors and a premium two-tone combination of Fuji Dawn and Shigoku. These are Nissan’s design descriptions, not independent assessments.
Is the new Elgrand a hybrid or an electric vehicle?
It is a hybrid, not a battery-electric vehicle. Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER system uses a dedicated ZR15DDTe engine to generate electricity, while a five-in-one unit combines the motor, generator, inverter, reducer, and increaser. Nissan calls the Elgrand “100% motor-driven”: the wheels are driven by electric motors, but the vehicle still has an onboard engine for power generation.

Nissan says updated control improves quietness and fuel efficiency, but its launch announcement does not publish a numerical fuel-economy figure. Without that figure or independent testing, the system’s real-world consumption cannot be assessed from the announcement alone. How e-4ORCE and the suspension are meant to work
The Elgrand combines e-POWER with e-4ORCE, Nissan’s electric-drive all-wheel-control system. Nissan says e-4ORCE manages front and rear motor torque and braking to limit body movement when starting, accelerating, and braking, and makes greater use of rear-motor drive force when cornering. These are manufacturer-described aims, not independently verified driving results.

Intelligent Dynamic Suspension adjusts damping at each wheel as conditions change. Drivers can choose among six modes: ECO, Standard, Sport, Comfort, Snow, and Personal.
Cabin, seating, and cargo flexibility
Nissan presents the interior as a private lounge. Highlights include a 14.3-inch integrated display, ambient lighting adjustable to 64 colors, and TailorFit seat materials. The launch announcement says every seat is a Zero Gravity Seat and emphasizes the reclining second-row seats. A Bose premium audio system with 22 speakers is a factory option; equipment varies by grade.

The third row can be stowed in two positions to trade seating for cargo room. Nissan says the Elgrand can carry seven carry-on-size suitcases with seven occupants, a manufacturer-stated capacity claim. The announcement also describes three 100V, 1,500W AC outlets and Qi2.0 wireless charging, with availability dependent on equipment and grade.
Japan-market grades, prices, and driver assistance
Nissan’s recommended retail prices below include Japanese consumption tax and were published with the July 16, 2026 launch. Both listed grades are 4WD and use the ZR15DDTe engine. The source does not establish prices for other countries.

For the specified Navi-link system, Nissan says hands-off traffic-jam operation applies at speeds of 50 km/h or below, while Lane Change Support operates at 60 km/h or above after the driver activates the turn signal. These are driver-assistance features with stated conditions, not autonomous driving. Nissan also describes ProPILOT 2.0 and ProPILOT Park with memory as optional equipment; availability depends on grade and selected options.
