Nissan Rogue vs. Toyota RAV4: What the Current Specs Actually Show

The current official Rogue and RAV4 specs cover different model years. Here’s what the 2027 Rogue and 2026 RAV4 pages list, and what Toyota’s older 2025 comparison can—and can’t—tell you.

The Nissan Rogue and Toyota RAV4 are both compact crossovers, but the official specifications currently available are not for matching model years: Nissan lists a 2027 Rogue, while Toyota lists a 2026 RAV4. Toyota’s direct comparison is an older, 2025 matchup. That means the clearest head-to-head figures are a historical baseline—not a current-year verdict. Compare the exact model year, trim and drivetrain on dealer quotes before choosing.

Current model years and specifications are not aligned

Nissan’s current specifications page covers the 2027 Rogue S FWD. Toyota’s full specifications page covers the 2026 RAV4 and identifies hybrid configurations. Toyota’s direct Rogue-versus-RAV4 comparison, however, uses 2025 base front-wheel-drive trims. The figures below therefore answer two different questions: what the cited current pages list, and how the two vehicles compared in Toyota’s same-year 2025 baseline.

Do not treat a 2025 RAV4 figure as a 2026 specification, or the 2027 Rogue S FWD rating as a rating for every Rogue. Availability and equipment can vary by trim and region; confirm the model year and configuration on the vehicle you are considering.

What the current manufacturer pages list

2027 Nissan Rogue S FWD

Nissan lists a starting MSRP of $28,850 plus a $1,390 destination charge for the 2027 Rogue S FWD. Its published fuel-economy ratings are 30 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 33 mpg combined, using regular unleaded fuel. Nissan also lists 36.5 cu ft of interior cargo volume and a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 lb for this configuration. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not a dealer transaction price or a promise that every vehicle in inventory has the same equipment. Nissan’s 2027 Rogue specifications

2026 Toyota RAV4 hybrid configuration

Toyota’s cited 2026 RAV4 specifications identify a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder hybrid powertrain with 226 net combined horsepower for the displayed configuration. Toyota does not establish that output as applying to every RAV4 trim or drivetrain. The page also cautions that equipment and availability may differ by region, so check the local vehicle listing or dealer for the exact version. Toyota’s 2026 RAV4 specifications

Same-year baseline: 2025 base front-wheel-drive trims

Toyota’s direct comparison pairs the 2025 RAV4 LE FWD with the 2025 Rogue S FWD. Because these are the same model year and drivetrain layout, the figures offer a more direct comparison than mixing the current pages—but they remain historical 2025 specifications.

Measure 2025 Toyota RAV4 LE FWD 2025 Nissan Rogue S FWD
Starting MSRP $29,250 (Toyota’s 2025 comparison) $29,230 (Toyota’s 2025 comparison)
EPA-estimated combined fuel economy 30 mpg (Toyota’s 2025 comparison) 33 mpg (Toyota’s 2025 comparison)
Cargo volume behind rear seats 37.6 cu ft (Toyota’s 2025 comparison) 31.6 cu ft (Toyota’s 2025 comparison)
Seating capacity 5 (Toyota’s 2025 comparison) 5 (Toyota’s 2025 comparison)
Horsepower 203 hp (Toyota’s 2025 comparison) 201 hp (Toyota’s 2025 comparison)
Front/rear legroom 41.0/37.8 in (Toyota’s 2025 comparison) 41.5/38.5 in (Toyota’s 2025 comparison)

On this particular 2025 pairing, the RAV4 LE FWD has the larger listed cargo volume behind the rear seats, while the Rogue S FWD has the higher listed combined fuel-economy estimate. The published starting MSRPs are close, but they are not current quotes and do not include a complete out-the-door comparison. Toyota’s 2025 RAV4-versus-Rogue comparison

How to compare them for your purchase

Match the configuration before comparing fuel use

Compare EPA estimates for the exact model year, trim and drivetrain you can buy. FWD and AWD versions, as well as hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants, should not be treated as interchangeable. A current 2027 Rogue S FWD rating is not directly comparable with a 2025 RAV4 LE FWD figure as a current head-to-head.

Use out-the-door quotes, not MSRP alone

Request itemized quotes for the vehicles you are actually considering. Include destination, installed packages, dealer charges, taxes and any incentives for which you qualify. The manufacturer pages provide listed pricing and specifications, not current transaction-price data.

Check cargo space on the same basis

In the 2025 comparison, Toyota specifies cargo volume behind the rear seats. For a current purchase, verify the measurement for each exact vehicle and whether it refers to space with seats raised or maximum volume with seats folded. Also check the shape of the load area and whether your usual items fit; the headline capacity alone cannot answer that.

Assess people, equipment and driving needs directly

Both 2025 base trims in Toyota’s comparison are listed with seating for five, and that page provides legroom figures for those trims. Use those figures as a screening aid, then check front and rear passenger fit in person. Review safety and comfort equipment by exact trim, and consult independent crash-test results and road tests for a safety or driving judgment. The cited manufacturer specifications do not establish a current, independent performance or safety winner.

Which one should you choose?

The available figures do not establish an overall winner for today’s buyer: the current manufacturer pages cover different model years and configurations, while the same-year matchup is from 2025. The older baseline favors the Rogue S FWD on listed combined mpg and the RAV4 LE FWD on cargo volume behind the rear seats. For a decision now, compare locally available, same-year trims and weigh the exact price, drivetrain, space and equipment against your priorities.
