MV Agusta has revealed a five-cylinder motorcycle engine platform called “quadrato,” but it has not named the bike that will use it. The company says the concept appeared at EICMA 2025 and that development is underway at its Schiranna R&D department. Its published figures are development-stage claims, not independent test results or confirmed production specifications.
What has MV Agusta announced?
In a press release dated 13 November 2025, MV Agusta described a modular five-cylinder engine platform with a planned displacement range of 850–1150 cc. The company says the engine is under development; the announcement does not establish that a production version is finalized. MV Agusta’s press release and its official concept page present the manufacturer’s account.
What are the claimed specifications?
MV Agusta says the platform is capable of producing more than 240 hp at more than 16,000 rpm and up to 135 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. The company also puts engine weight at under 60 kg and says it uses electric water and oil pumps. These are manufacturer-published capabilities and specifications for an engine under development; the announcement includes no independent measurements or production-engine test results.
How is the “quadrato” engine arranged?
MV Agusta describes three cylinders on a front crankshaft and two on a rear crankshaft, arranged in a U configuration. The company credits the firing order with delivering torque and rideability without variable valve timing.

MV Agusta also claims the layout is narrower than an inline-four and shorter than a V4. The announcement gives no dimensions or comparative testing, so those statements should be understood as the manufacturer’s packaging claims, not measured comparisons.
Which motorcycle will use the engine?
The debut motorcycle has not been identified. MV Agusta names Supersport, Naked and Touring as intended segments, but does not say which segment or model will launch first. Its only model clue is that the debut will be a model “currently no longer in the line-up,” which it says will be unveiled “in the coming years.” That is the company’s wording in its 13 November 2025 release, not a named model or a firm launch date.

- The debut motorcycle’s name, specifications and fitment.
- When a production motorcycle will be shown or go on sale.

The announcement frames the engine against inline-four and V4 packaging, but does not supply dimensions, comparative engine data or test results. It therefore does not establish how the quadrato would compare in measured width, length, mass, power delivery or vibration once developed for production.
