Mercedes-AMG was reported to be ending production of five performance models in 2026, but the dates came from an alleged internal Mercedes Germany memo—not a public company announcement. The report concerns the C 43, GLC 43, GLA 35, C 63 and GLC 63; it is not evidence that Mercedes is ending its powerful AMGs across the board.
Which Mercedes-AMG models were reported to be ending?
Car and Driver reported on November 19, 2025, that an alleged internal Mercedes Germany memo listed the following production end dates. Mercedes-Benz had not publicly confirmed the full list or timetable in the official material available.

Those projected dates have passed, but a reported schedule does not prove that production ended on time or that ordering stopped simultaneously in every country. The report did not establish the timetable’s geographic scope. Buyers should check current local stock and order status with Mercedes-Benz or a dealer.
Is the C 63 being replaced by a C 53?
A later Car and Driver report in February 2026 said Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe confirmed the C 63’s departure and its replacement by a C 53 powered by an inline-six. The report supports that model-change account, but it does not turn the separate alleged-memo dates for the C 63 and GLC 63 into a publicly confirmed production timetable. Why were the models reportedly being dropped?
The November report attributed the planned cuts apparently to a forthcoming European external-noise rule due in July 2026. The reporting does not establish the rule’s legal text, how it applies to each model or type approval, or that it compelled Mercedes to end production. The later C 63 report instead cited emissions restrictions as a reason for that model’s exit. These are reported explanations, not a verified single cause for every vehicle on the list.
Are Mercedes-AMG V8s and other powerful models going away?
No. The reported cuts concern a particular group of four-cylinder AMGs; official Mercedes-Benz announcements point to continued investment in other high-performance powertrains and vehicles.

- Mercedes-Benz’s Q2 2026 report highlighted new V8-powered AMG GLE 63 S and GLS 63 models. It also described a programme of more than 40 new models planned between 2025 and 2027. These are company plans and announcements, not a guarantee of availability in every market.
- At its 2025 Capital Market Day, Mercedes-Benz described a refreshed AMG lineup from 2026, including a next-generation electrified V8 and dedicated high-performance electric models based on AMG.EA.
- Mercedes-Benz’s full-year 2025 results described a 2026 S-Class update with a new V8.
- Mercedes-Benz Media reported 145,000 AMG performance vehicles delivered worldwide in 2025, up 7% from 2024. That company figure covers the AMG performance-vehicle total; it does not show how any individual model performed.
Mercedes also announced the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé with GT 63 and GT 55 powertrains, with series production planned for summer 2026. A launch announcement and planned production date do not by themselves establish when the car can be ordered in a particular market.

If you are considering one of the named models, use the reported timetable as a reason to check—not as proof that it is unavailable. Ask a local Mercedes-Benz retailer whether the specific model and trim can still be ordered, whether there are unsold vehicles in stock, and what delivery timing applies in your market. If you are comparing alternatives, decide first whether you want a sedan, SUV or sports car, and whether engine character, electrification, efficiency or performance technology matters most; the reported changes do not make one replacement the right choice for every buyer.
