A pre-series Mercedes-Benz CLA covered 3,717 kilometres during a 24-hour test at Nardò in southern Italy, the automaker reported. Mercedes-Benz described it as a record attempt against other near-production electric vehicles; the available company account does not establish independent certification of the result.
How far did the Mercedes CLA travel in 24 hours?
Mercedes-Benz says its pre-series CLA drove 3,717 kilometres (about 2,309 miles) over 24 hours at the Nardò test facility in southern Italy. The company characterized the run as a record attempt and said the car went farther than other near-production electric vehicles.
That is a manufacturer-reported development-test result, not a standardized range rating. Mercedes-Benz’s technology article does not identify an independent record authority or provide a full test protocol, including details such as driving speeds, charging stops, driver changes or the comparison set. The result should therefore be attributed to Mercedes-Benz rather than described as independently certified.
How does the 24-hour result compare with the production CLA’s range?
The 3,717-kilometre figure is accumulated distance during a 24-hour test of a pre-series vehicle. It is not the distance the production car is rated to travel on one charge. In March 2025, Mercedes-Benz announced a maximum WLTP range of 792 kilometres for the European-market CLA 250+ with EQ Technology. WLTP is a standardized vehicle testing procedure; its single-charge range figure and a day-long development test measure different things.

What is the Mercedes CLA’s range and charging claim?
For the production CLA 250+ with EQ Technology, Mercedes-Benz’s March 2025 announcement gives up to 792 kilometres of WLTP range. The same release says the car can add up to 325 kilometres of WLTP range in 10 minutes when connected to a DC fast-charging station supplying 500 amps. These are the automaker’s stated figures and conditions, not a promise that every charging session will deliver that result.
In a January 2026 update, Mercedes-Benz reiterated the maximum 792-kilometre range and listed combined energy consumption of 14.1–12.2 kWh/100 km for the CLA 250+ with EQ Technology. The company said the electric CLA had been on sale in Europe since mid-2025 and was expected in the United States and other countries soon as of that update; that wording describes the position at the time, not confirmation of subsequent market availability.

What did Mercedes-Benz preview before the production CLA?
Mercedes-Benz presented the CLA as the first vehicle on its MMA architecture, which was planned to accommodate electric and hybrid powertrains. The company’s technology article also described an 800-volt electric architecture and a two-speed gearbox on the main rear-axle drive.
Earlier Concept CLA figures—including more than 750 kilometres of WLTP range, around 12 kWh/100 km consumption and up to 300 kilometres added in 10 minutes—were explicitly preliminary. Mercedes-Benz said no officially recognized testing organization had confirmed them and that no EC type approval or certificate of conformity was yet available. They should not be confused with the later production-car specifications.
