Mercedes-Benz now lets eligible owners use an Apple Watch to locate a parked vehicle, view selected vehicle information, and lock or unlock the doors without opening the phone app. The company announced the rollout on November 21, 2024, initially describing availability in Europe; the US App Store records the Apple Watch app in version 3.51.0 on December 12, 2024. Exact functions depend on market, vehicle equipment, model year, and connected-services eligibility.
What the Mercedes-Benz Apple Watch app does
The watch interface is intended for short interactions when carrying or reaching for an iPhone is inconvenient. Mercedes-Benz’s European launch announcement listed these functions:

- Locate the parked vehicle.
- Get walking directions to the vehicle.
- Use a compass mode in open areas without map coverage.
- Lock or unlock the vehicle remotely.
- View key vehicle information.
- Check estimated range using the vehicle’s location and battery or fuel level.
- Check whether the windows are closed after leaving the vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz USA’s current description lists finding the vehicle on a map, accessing vehicle information, climatizing the vehicle, and locking or unlocking it from Apple Watch. The US App Store’s historical launch note specifically mentions finding the vehicle, viewing information at a glance, and locking or unlocking doors.

These are market-specific descriptions, not a guarantee that every function works in every country or Mercedes-Benz model. Vehicle hardware, subscription status, software support, and regional service availability can all affect what appears on the watch.

The November announcement is a company rollout statement; the December date is the US App Store release record. They should not be treated as one global launch date.
How to get it on an Apple Watch
Install or update the Mercedes-Benz smartphone app, sign in with the Mercedes me account associated with the vehicle, and install the watch component through the iPhone’s Watch app if it is offered. The exact screen names can vary by iOS and watchOS version, so the app’s current listing is the best guide to the installation path.

European launch-era requirements
For the European launch, Mercedes-Benz specified:
- A Mercedes me account.
- Mercedes-Benz smartphone app version 1.50.0 or later.
- An Apple Watch running watchOS 9 or later.
- The customer’s own mobile-data volume.
Those were requirements stated in the November 2024 announcement. They are not a universal, current checklist for every region, and Mercedes-Benz may have changed account, app, network, or service requirements since then.

US vehicle eligibility
The US App Store listing and Mercedes-Benz USA’s connected-vehicle information describe broad support for model-year 2019 and newer vehicles, plus selected 2018 GLE and C-Class vehicles equipped with the required technology. “2019 or newer” is therefore not sufficient by itself: the specific vehicle’s connected equipment and the requested function must also be supported.

How compatibility actually works
Think of compatibility as four separate checks rather than a single Apple Watch requirement:
- Region: Mercedes-Benz describes different functions for Europe and the United States, and the rollout was staged.
- Vehicle: Model year, model, factory equipment, and vehicle software determine whether remote commands and status data are available.
- Account and service: The watch must be connected to the Mercedes me account that controls the vehicle, and any required connected service must remain active.
- Watch and phone software: The European launch threshold was watchOS 9 or later and Mercedes-Benz app version 1.50.0 or later, but current requirements should be checked in the regional App Store listing.
Mercedes-Benz’s published material does not provide a complete current model-by-model Apple Watch compatibility matrix. If a function is missing, confirm the VIN-specific support information with Mercedes-Benz or an authorized dealer instead of assuming the watch or phone is defective.

What the app is useful for
Finding a car in a large parking area
The map view can identify the vehicle’s parked location, while the European launch description also mentions walking directions and a compass mode where map coverage is unavailable. These tools address different situations: a map is useful when the parking position is recorded precisely, while a compass can help in an open area without usable map data.
Checking the vehicle before walking away
A glance at vehicle information and the window-closed status can reduce the need to return to the car. The European announcement also described range checking based on location and battery or fuel level, while the US description includes vehicle information and, for supported vehicles, climatization.

Locking or unlocking without the phone
Remote locking and unlocking are the clearest cross-source capability. The US App Store release note says owners can “find your vehicle on the map, access vehicle information at a glance and lock/unlock doors directly from your Apple watch.” Availability still depends on the vehicle and connected-service setup.
Important limitation for older US vehicles
Mercedes-Benz USA states that mbrace connected-vehicle services were terminated as of January 1, 2026. The newer Apple Watch app should not be assumed to restore remote features for a vehicle that depended on discontinued mbrace services. Owners of older cars need to verify whether their specific vehicle has another supported Mercedes-Benz connected platform and whether the desired watch function is included.
What to check before relying on it
- Confirm your country’s Mercedes-Benz app listing and feature description.
- Check the vehicle’s model year, exact model, and connected equipment.
- Use the Mercedes me account paired with that vehicle.
- Update the iPhone app and Apple Watch software to the versions required by your market.
- Test locking, vehicle status, location, and any climate or range function while you are near the car.
- For a US vehicle using older services, verify its post-mbrace eligibility before depending on remote access.
Apple Watch is the enabling wearable, but watchOS compatibility alone does not prove that a particular Watch generation or Mercedes-Benz vehicle supports every feature. Mercedes-Benz has not published a complete model-by-model matrix in the materials describing this rollout.
