But Mercedes says the rear-most seats are intended for people no taller than 1.65 m, and fitting them reduces the stated luggage volume. The EQB is most convincing when you need occasional extra seats and can check that the people and bags you carry will fit the exact vehicle.
Is the Mercedes-Benz EQB a real 7-seater?
Yes: Mercedes-Benz offered the EQB with two additional seats in the third row, alongside the standard five-seat layout. The manufacturer’s November 2021 launch announcement says the third row is suitable for occupants up to 1.65 m tall and can accommodate child seats. That makes the EQB a genuine seven-seat configuration, but not one to assume will suit seven adults comfortably.
The EQB is related to the EQA in electric-drive technology and to the GLB in interior packaging. Its stated dimensions in that launch announcement are 4,684 mm long, 1,834 mm wide excluding mirrors, and 1,667 mm high, with a 2,829 mm wheelbase. Those figures describe the launch vehicle; confirm dimensions and seating availability for the specific model year and market.
Check the third row with its intended occupants
Before buying, try access to the back row and check headroom, legroom, and how the second row needs to be positioned. If you plan to fit child seats, test the actual seats and restraints in the exact vehicle and consult its owner’s manual. A manufacturer-stated height limit is a useful guide, not a substitute for checking fit and comfort.

How much boot space does the EQB have?
Mercedes-Benz’s November 2021 announcement gives different luggage-volume ranges for the two seating layouts. The figures do not mean the maximum volume is available while all seven seats are occupied.
| Seating configuration | Manufacturer-stated luggage volume | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Five seats | 495–1,710 litres | The larger stated range applies to the five-seat version. |
| Seven seats | 465–1,620 litres | The seven-seat version has less stated luggage volume; the third row also uses space when occupied. |
The second row is described as reclining in multiple positions and optionally sliding longitudinally by 140 mm. That can help balance passenger room and cargo space, but the sliding feature is optional in the launch material. Check the equipment on the individual car and assess the boot with the seats arranged as you will use them.

How fast does the EQB charge, and what range can it travel?
Charging and range figures depend on model year, market, drivetrain, charger, battery state and temperature. Mercedes-Benz’s 2021 launch material stated charging up to 11 kW on AC and up to 100 kW on DC, with a 10–80% DC charge taking a little over 30 minutes under the specified conditions. These are historical manufacturer claims, not independent test results or guarantees of what every EQB will achieve. The launch material identified CCS for Europe and the United States and a different regional solution in China.
For home charging, the same material describes a wallbox as faster than a household outlet and specifies AC charging up to 11 kW. Whether a vehicle can use that rate depends on its market-specific hardware and the electrical supply and installation. Check the car’s documentation and have installation requirements assessed before choosing an 11 kW wallbox.

One launch-era European range example
Mercedes-Benz quoted a WLTP range of 419 km and consumption of 19.2–18.1 kWh/100 km for the European EQB 350 4MATIC in 2021 launch material. These are version-specific homologation figures, not real-world test results and not a range claim for every EQB. Actual range varies with configuration, conditions and use.
What changed on the 2024 EQB?
Mercedes-Benz announced updates for EQA and EQB models that could be ordered in Europe from autumn 2023 and were due at European dealers at the beginning of 2024. The company described aerodynamic and tire-efficiency measures, a range-maximization function, and Plug & Charge at compatible public charging stations. These updates should not be assumed on earlier model years or EQBs sold in other regions; verify the equipment and charging-service compatibility of the specific car.

Towing figures for the updated European model
For the five-seat EQB with the optional tow hitch, Mercedes-Benz’s update announcement stated a maximum braked trailer load of 1,400 kg for front-wheel drive and 1,700 kg for 4MATIC. Those figures are limited to the stated seating configuration and drivetrain. Check the individual vehicle documentation and local rules before towing.

Mercedes-Benz launch material described active lane-keeping and active brake assist as standard equipment, along with body-structure and battery-protection features. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent crash-test findings. No current independent crash-rating result is established here, so do not treat the equipment descriptions as a star rating. For child restraints and vehicle-specific fitment, follow the owner’s manual for the exact EQB; a regional Mercedes-Benz manual dated October 2024 includes child-restraint guidance and third-row material.

Current local pricing, warranty terms, used-car value and ownership costs are not established by the cited launch information. Mercedes-Benz’s 2023 announcement listed €53,514.30 as the starting price for the EQB 250+ in Germany at that time; it is a historical German price, not a current quote. Confirm today’s local price and support directly for the relevant market and model year.
Mercedes-Benz Group’s environmental-check page, updated July 7, 2025, describes the EQB as an electric SUV counterpart to the GLB and discusses lifecycle assessment and battery topics. The page identifies Sphera Solutions’ SP2024.2 software/database as used for the assessment. This is corporate lifecycle-assessment material, not an independent road-use or vehicle review; lifecycle results depend on the assessment’s assumptions.
Who should consider the Mercedes-Benz EQB?
The EQB is worth considering if you want an electric SUV with a five-seat layout and the option of two additional seats for smaller or occasional passengers. The key compromise is clear: the third row has a stated occupant-height limit, and the seven-seat version has lower manufacturer-stated luggage-volume ranges than the five-seat version.
When comparing it with other vehicles, assess third-row fit and cargo space with those seats in use, then compare range and charging by matching model year, market and drivetrain. Also check home and public charging access, towing needs, current local price, warranty and used-car support. The available figures alone do not establish how the EQB drives or how it compares on real-world range, value or safety.
