Mercedes-Benz says its CONCEPT AMG GT XX covered 3,404 miles (5,479 km) in 24 hours at Italy’s Nardò high-speed test track. The August 25, 2025 result came from a closed-track endurance program with charging stops—not a public-road drive or a single-charge range test.
How far did the Mercedes-AMG GT XX drive in 24 hours?
Mercedes-Benz reported that the concept covered 5,479 km (3,404 miles), exceeding the previous best by 1,518 km (943 miles). The company described the result as one of 25 long-distance records set during the program. These are manufacturer-reported figures; the cited announcement does not establish independent certification of the 24-hour result. Mercedes-Benz’s August 25, 2025 announcement places the drive at the Nardò high-speed test track in southern Italy.
Was the record set on public roads?
No. It was a controlled endurance demonstration on a closed test track. The 3,404-mile distance should not be read as the car’s range on one charge: the program included charging stops and purpose-built prototype infrastructure. Mercedes-Benz said the cars averaged more than 5,300 km per day and that much of the driving took place at 300 km/h (186 mph).
A separate around-the-world-distance result
Two cars also completed a broader day-and-night challenge covering 40,075 km (24,901 miles)—the equivalent of Earth’s equatorial circumference—in 7 days, 13 hours, 24 minutes, and 7 seconds, according to Mercedes-Benz. That multi-day result is distinct from the single-car 24-hour distance figure.

How fast did the Concept GT XX charge?
Mercedes-Benz later reported a maximum charging power of 1,041 kW at a prototype charging station developed by its Charging Unit in collaboration with Alpitronic. The setup adapted a prototype station for a slim CCS cable; it is not a measure of charging power available at ordinary public stations. The company says the battery’s direct-cooling system uses electrically non-conductive oil and manages the temperature of more than 3,000 cells. What about the five-minute, 400-km claim?
In a June 2025 announcement, Mercedes-Benz said the concept could add approximately 400 km of WLTP range in about five minutes. The same announcement identified the range figures as preliminary digital simulations, with no confirmed values from an officially recognized testing organization and no binding figures. It is not verified public-network charging performance. Mercedes-Benz’s June 25, 2025 concept announcement provides that qualification.

Is the GT XX a production car?
No. Mercedes-AMG presents the CONCEPT AMG GT XX as a technology demonstrator previewing a future four-door series-production sports car based on the AMG.EA architecture. The concept page lists three axial-flux motors, peak output above 1,000 kW, and a top speed above 360 km/h; these are manufacturer-published concept specifications, not final production-car figures. Mercedes-AMG’s concept page describes the vehicle.
Mercedes-Benz said in 2025 that axial-flux motor and directly cooled battery technologies were intended for production in the AMG.EA architecture in 2026. That was a company plan stated at the time, not confirmation of a production model’s availability or specifications.
