The Cybercat was a third-party proposal to turn a Tesla Cybertruck into a pontoon-supported catamaran. A 2022 report described a maximum claimed output of 335 hp from as many as five electric motors—but those figures described a concept, not a verified boat or a currently available conversion.
What is the Cybercat?
Associated in reporting with entrepreneur Anthony Diamond, Cybercat was conceived as a modular catamaran conversion for the Cybertruck. Add-on pontoons were intended to let the truck operate on water as a boat. It was not a Tesla-designed vehicle or a description of the Cybertruck’s ordinary water-driving capability.

Autoevolution quoted Diamond describing the idea as a way to “easily and quickly hop across the water,” without marina mooring, and said its clean operation mattered to him because of his climate-tech background. That explains the proposal’s appeal; it does not establish that a working conversion was built.

How the proposed 335-hp setup was supposed to work
Autoevolution’s 2022 coverage described a configuration with up to five 50 kW motors and a maximum claimed output of 335 hp. The number was a proposal-era specification, not an independently verified test result. The report did not establish that a five-motor Cybercat was completed or tested.

- 1-Perfect custom fit for 2025-2026 Model Y (Juniper),3D scanned for seamless contour matching
- 2-Premium Safe TPE Material:Crafted from odorless, non-toxic thermoplastic elastomer that stays flexible in extreme temperatures (-40°F to 176°F). Free of harmful chemicals, safe for kids and pets; wear-resistant for long-term use.
- 3-All-Weather Heavy-Duty Protection:Deep channels and raised edges trap mud, slush, rain, and sand, keeping interior dry and clean. Textured anti-slip surface prevents cargo sliding during transit—ideal for daily commutes, off-roading, or pet travel.
- 4-No-Slip Safety Design:Reinforced anti-skid backing and vehicle-specific anchors lock mats in place, avoiding pedal interference. Raised edge trim contains spills, reducing cleanup hassle and enhancing driving safety.
- 5-Effortless Clean & Quick Install:Install in minutes—just lay and press to fit. Clean by hosing off, wiping with soapy water, or shaking out; stain and water-resistant surface dries fast for ongoing protection.
The concept coverage also listed a proposed top speed of 22 knots or more, with estimated range of 100 nautical miles at 5 knots and 44 nautical miles at 13 knots. These were estimates reported in 2022, not measured performance figures.
Cybercat and Foiler: two proposed configurations
The same report described a related Foiler concept alongside the catamaran. Their reported figures are useful for understanding what was proposed, but neither set should be treated as demonstrated performance.

| Concept | Design described | Proposed top speed | Reported estimated range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cybercat | Catamaran conversion with pontoons | 22+ knots | 100 nautical miles at 5 knots; 44 nautical miles at 13 knots |
| Foiler | Related foiling-boat concept | 35 knots | 65 nautical miles at 22 knots |
All speed and range figures in this table were estimates or proposed specifications in Autoevolution’s 2022 report, not results from independent testing. That report also placed the proposed Cybercat price between $22,000 and $32,900 depending on motor count. This is historical concept pricing, not a current price or offer.
Cybercat is not Tesla’s Wade Mode
Tesla’s Canadian Cybertruck page describes Wade Mode as a setting designed to help the truck navigate tire-high water by raising ride height and pressurizing the battery pack. That manufacturer description concerns water navigation; it does not describe pontoon support or boating. Cybercat was a separate third-party conversion proposal.

Can you buy a Cybercat today?
Current production, ordering, and availability could not be confirmed. Autoevolution reported in 2022 that reservations were being taken for both concepts, while also noting the difficulty of moving from an idea to production. A reservation report from that period is not evidence that orders are open now, that a kit reached production, or that it fits a particular Cybertruck.
Accordingly, the 335-hp figure, performance estimates, and price range should be read as claims made about a proposal in period coverage—not as specifications for a purchasable, tested vehicle.
