Motorsport.com reported the sighting on 22 May 2025, and a video published by Superyacht Lifestyle the next day provides additional visual documentation. Neither source identifies the car’s owner or who arranged the display.
Was a McLaren Solus GT parked on a yacht in Monaco?
Yes. The reported setting was Sarastar in Monaco harbour, in the days before the 2025 Grand Prix. McLaren Racing’s event page lists the race for Sunday 25 May 2025. The timing and location are supported by Motorsport.com’s 22 May report, Superyacht Lifestyle’s video, published 23 May, and McLaren Racing’s event page.
The Financial Commission later described a Monaco superyacht event featuring the Solus GT aboard Sarastar, and named Libertex and Tom Claeren in its event recap. Those details are the organization’s account of the event, rather than independently verified information about who owned the car or organized its placement.
What is the McLaren Solus GT?
McLaren says the Solus GT began as a virtual racing concept and was developed as a special commission for 25 customers. It is a track-only, single-seat car with a central driving position and a sliding, aircraft-style canopy. McLaren says it does not adhere to road or racing regulations, so it should not be described as road-legal.
