The standard MAZDA SPIRIT RACING ROADSTER is sold in Japan through Mazda dealers on a first-come, first-served basis, with no lottery. Mazda has capped production at 2,200 and says sales end when that planned quantity is reached, so this is a simpler route than the limited 12R—not a guarantee that a car is still available. The ROADSTER 12R’s separate 200-unit lottery has closed. Mazda’s current model page directs buyers to a nearby dealer for details.
What “easier to buy” means
For the standard Spirit Racing Roadster, there is no application draw: prospective buyers can ask a Mazda dealer about purchasing one, and sales proceed in order of arrival. Mazda says the planned 2,200-unit quantity is the limit. Its public page does not show live inventory, so first-come-first-served describes the sales process, not current availability.
The 12R followed a different process. Mazda’s October 4, 2025 announcement set an app-based lottery for reservation applications from October 5 through October 20, with results expected October 23. Mazda’s current page says applications for that lottery have ended. The two cars should not be treated as interchangeable purchase opportunities.

How to check whether the standard model is still available
- Contact a nearby Mazda dealer in Japan and ask specifically about the MAZDA SPIRIT RACING ROADSTER.
- Ask whether the dealer can accept an order or has an allocation available. Mazda’s online page does not publish live stock.
- Confirm the current price, delivery timing and any dealer-specific details directly with the dealership before making plans.
Mazda’s stated sales rule is that the standard model’s sales end once the planned quantity is reached. Because the page provides no remaining-unit count, a listed model and price do not establish that an unsold car can still be ordered.
What distinguishes the cars beyond the buying process
Standard Spirit Racing Roadster
Mazda describes the standard car as drawing on technologies developed through its Super Taikyu participation. Its listed changes include a 2.0-liter engine, optimized accelerator response, heel-and-toe assist, revised speed-limiter and rev-limit control, and a larger radiator. Those are Mazda’s product descriptions, not independently measured performance claims. More detail appears on Mazda’s feature page.

Its announced details include low-resistance pistons and DLC-coated piston rings, as well as a RECARO full bucket seat. These 12R-specific details should not be assumed to apply to the standard Spirit Racing Roadster.
Optional circuit equipment
Mazda’s options page describes a Spirit Racing Sports Package and other specialized equipment, including sport tires and brake components. Fitment and setup matter: Mazda notes that one package can reduce ground clearance by approximately 15–20 mm and advises care over ramps and uneven surfaces. These are model-related circuit options, not generic upgrades guaranteed to fit every MX-5.
