Mayman Aerospace’s flying-motorcycle concept has evolved into the P100, an autonomous, jet-powered vertical-takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) aircraft aimed at military and other institutional users. The company reports autonomous P100 flights in March 2025 and a full hover-to-winged-flight transition at 200 knots in March 2026. Those are manufacturer-reported milestones—not independent verification of performance, operational deployment, or a consumer flying motorcycle for sale.
What happened to the Speeder flying motorcycle?
“Flying motorcycle” refers to the earlier Speeder concept, not a retail product now available to consumers. In April 2024, Mayman Aerospace described the P100 as the military variant of its dual-use VTOL design, derived from the Speeder. The company announced a full-scale P100 model for SOF Week 2024; unveiling a model did not establish that production aircraft were available to buy. Mayman’s April 2024 announcement also introduced SKYFIELD, its AI-driven autonomous operating environment.
The company’s current presentation is institutional: it invites program offices, prime contractors, and partners to request technical briefings. The company pages reviewed do not establish a consumer sales offer.
What is the P100, and how does it fly?
Mayman describes the P100 as an autonomous, jet-powered VTOL aircraft. Its stated design uses gimbaled turbines to vector thrust for vertical takeoff and landing, then transitions to forward flight. The company says it can recover to its launch footprint and that the operator sets mission intent while onboard autonomy handles the flight. These are descriptions of the intended system, not independently assessed capabilities. Mayman’s P100 product page provides the company’s current description and specifications.
#1 Best Overall
- Compact and Portable Design: With a 730mm wingspan and lightweight EPP foam construction, the Ranger T1 is easy to carry, store, and transport. Its quick-release wing system allows full assembly or disassembly in under a minute
- Powerful Performance: Equipped with dual motors (KIT version), the aircraft delivers an impressive thrust-to-weight ratio of up to 1.71, ensuring agile takeoff and stable cruising, even at low speeds
- Optimized Aerodynamics and Flight Stability: Engineered for aerodynamic efficiency, the fixed-wing design remains highly stable at low speeds. The improved air intake ensures better cooling during extended flights
- Flexible Electronics Configuration: Spacious internal layout with both front and rear hatches gives you the freedom to organize your battery and electronics for great center-of-gravity balance and clean wiring
- Ready and Crash-Resistant: Features a dedicated FPV camera mount and detachable main wings that minimize impact damage in case of crashes. The new high-density white foam matches the durability of the previous gray version. Suitable for ages 16 and up
Although “drone” is a common shorthand, the company describes the P100 as an autonomous aircraft; the cited material does not establish a consumer-style remote-control aircraft or a piloted flying motorcycle. It also does not provide enough detail to characterize every operator-control, communications, or contingency mode.
What specifications does Mayman publish?
The figures below are listed by Mayman on its current P100 page, accessed in 2026. They are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified test results.

KTAS means knots of true airspeed. Mayman’s homepage also displays “400+ knots” sprint speed, while its September 2024 release quotes CEO David Mayman projecting speeds greater than 450 knots. The latter is a projection attributed to the founder, not a separately substantiated measured result. The September 2024 company release gives that quotation and describes earlier test-bed work.
What has Mayman reported testing?
The milestones indicate staged development, but they should not be read as proof that the P100 is operational, type-certified, or commercially available. The dates and descriptions below come from Mayman’s own releases and milestone page.
Rank #3
- Propeller diameter: 8" / 203.2 mm; Propeller pitch: 4.1" / 104.1 mm
- Shaft diameter: 5 mm; Adjustable via adapter rings, sold separately.
- Hub thickness: 8 mm
- Propeller Weight: 0.31 oz / 8.9 g
- Direction of rotation: Normal / Tractor / CCW
- April 2024: Mayman announced the P100 as a military variant derived from the Speeder and said a full-scale model would be shown at SOF Week. Company announcement.
- September 2024: The company reported autonomous tests using a VTOL test bed at a military facility in Southern California. Mayman said the test bed matched the P100’s dimensions and weight and used the same propulsion, engine-gimbaling, thrust-vectoring, and flight-control systems. Testing focused on transitioning the engines from hover configuration toward winged flight. Company test release.
- December 2024: Mayman’s milestone page lists an FAA Special Airworthiness Certification, Experimental. The available material does not include the certificate or establish type certification.
- March 2025: Mayman lists the first fully autonomous P100 flight. Its newsroom describes the flight as untethered and says it validated SKYFIELD flight-control software after 18 months of development.
- March 2026: Mayman lists a full transition from hover to winged flight at 200 knots.
The company’s milestone chronology is available on its milestones page. For the September 2024 tests, Mayman attributed this account to chief engineer Dr. Manu Sharma: “In these flight tests we flew seven autonomous mission sets and all systems worked perfectly as planned.” It is Sharma’s description of the company’s tests, not an independent evaluation.
What missions and payloads are proposed?
Mayman presents the P100 for logistics, resupply, sensing, communications, and other payload missions. Its product page names possible cargo such as medical supplies, trauma kits, UAV equipment, batteries, water, food, repair parts, and communications equipment. Those examples describe proposed payload uses; they do not show that every payload or mission has been tested in service.

The April 2024 announcement also discussed contested logistics, sensor missions, target-drone use, and possible missile carriage. These are announced or proposed roles, not evidence of completed weapons integration, certification for a particular weapon, or operational deployment. The same announcement described the P100 as the military variant of the Speeder: Mayman, April 2024.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does the Savback agreement mean 300 aircraft were sold?
No. Mayman’s newsroom reported a February 2024 letter of intent with Savback Helicopters for 300 Speeder P100 aircraft, which the company valued at more than US$120 million. A letter of intent is not, by itself, evidence of a completed delivery or a binding purchase order; the reported announcement does not establish that those aircraft were built or delivered.
