Lucid and Tesla are not direct substitutes across their entire lineups. Lucid’s U.S. range centers on the luxury Air sedan and Gravity SUV, while Tesla’s current comparison page features Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. Lucid’s strongest specification claims include the Air’s long EPA-estimated range and Gravity’s range and fast-charging figures; Tesla publishes detailed Model 3 specifications and warranty coverage. The useful comparison is between the specific vehicle and trim you would buy—not one brand declared the overall winner.

Which vehicles are you actually comparing?

Start with body style, passenger and cargo needs, and budget. Lucid lists the Air sedan and Gravity SUV on its U.S. comparison page, with model-year 2026 and 2027 versions. Tesla’s current comparison page lists Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. Those lineups overlap only in broad categories: the pages do not establish exact cross-brand equivalents.

  • Sedan: Compare Lucid Air trims with the Tesla Model 3 if both fit your budget and space needs. The Air is positioned in the luxury segment; do not assume the cars are equivalent on price or equipment.
  • SUV: Gravity is the relevant Lucid family for shoppers who need a large SUV and up to seven seats. Model Y is a possible Tesla alternative, but the available manufacturer information here does not provide enough matched current Model Y prices and specifications for a numerical comparison.
  • Truck: Cybertruck appears on Tesla’s comparison page, but Lucid’s listed Air and Gravity families do not provide a direct counterpart.

How do Lucid Air and Tesla Model 3 compare on price and range?

Lucid’s July 22, 2025 announcement gave U.S. starting prices for the 2026 Air Pure, Touring and Grand Touring. It also reported EPA-estimated range for those trims. The 2025 Lucid Form 10-K separately reports the Pure figure for a specified wheel configuration. These are dated manufacturer figures, not a live quote.

Tesla Model 3 Location-specific displayed price; not directly comparable as a nationwide starting price Varies by version Tesla’s page displays Massachusetts prices and notes that some fees are excluded. Confirm the live local price and exact variant.

Lucid’s announcement is at Lucid’s 2026 Air pricing and features release; the Pure wheel qualification appears in its 2025 Form 10-K. Tesla’s current Model 3 page presents rear-wheel-drive, Premium and Performance versions, with variant-specific range and acceleration details: Tesla Model 3.

Do not compare the Air’s nationwide trim starting prices with a Tesla price shown for one state as though both include the same destination charges, taxes, incentives and fees. Prices, equipment and availability can change; check the manufacturers’ configurators for the same location and order date. EPA estimates are configuration-specific, and Lucid says range depends on configuration and driving conditions; Tesla likewise warns that actual range varies with vehicle and environmental conditions.

Is Lucid Air better than Tesla Model S?

The current Tesla comparison page used here lists Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck; it does not establish that Model S is currently available to order. A historical or used Model S comparison is a different question from comparing current new-vehicle lineups. For a new sedan, use the current Model 3 page and a specific Air trim rather than assuming a Model S is a current Tesla alternative.

How do Gravity and Model Y compare for families?

Gravity is the clearer Lucid choice when a shopper needs a large SUV and available seating for up to seven. Lucid’s April 15, 2025 announcement gives the Gravity Grand Touring up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated range in a specific two-row, five-seat configuration with specified wheels. That is not a range figure for every Gravity configuration, and the five-seat setup should not be mistaken for a three-row configuration.

Lucid also claimed that Gravity can add 200 miles of range in less than 11 minutes under its stated charging and configuration conditions. Treat that as a manufacturer claim, not typical trip-planning performance or a guarantee across chargers and trims. The announcement does not provide a sufficiently matched current Model Y specification set for a fair numeric comparison here.

See Lucid’s Gravity Grand Touring announcement and Tesla’s current model comparison page. Before deciding, compare the exact seating layout, child-seat and cargo requirements, wheel configuration, local price and test-drive experience.

Can a Lucid charge at Tesla Superchargers?

According to Lucid’s July 2025 announcement, Lucid Air owners can charge at compatible Tesla Superchargers using a Lucid-approved DC NACS-to-CCS1 adapter at compatible V3 and newer stations. Lucid stated a maximum rate of up to 50 kW for this setup. That is not the rate every car will sustain, and station compatibility and charging speed matter. Lucid said Air charging can be initiated through the Lucid app when a payment card is saved in Lucid Wallet.

The same announcement said the adapter would cost $220 in the U.S. before taxes. That is a dated announced price, so confirm current price, stock, station compatibility and instructions with Lucid before buying. The announcement said the adapter-access change applied to all Air model years beginning July 31, 2025.

Gravity has a built-in NACS port, according to Lucid’s launch materials, so its connector situation differs from Air’s adapter-based access described above. A connector alone does not establish charging speed at every station; the Gravity fast-charging claim is configuration- and condition-dependent.

Lucid’s announcement also describes a 40-amp mobile charging cable kit included with the 2026 Air, with NEMA 14-50 and NEMA 5-15 adapters. Lucid estimates 9.6 kW and up to 40 miles of range per hour on a 240 V / 40 A setup, and 1.4 kW and up to four miles per hour on a 120 V / 12 A setup. These are manufacturer estimates dependent on vehicle and charging conditions, not universal home-charging results. Details are in Lucid’s 2026 Air announcement.

What do the published specifications say about ownership?

Warranty

Tesla’s Model 3 page provides warranty durations and mileage limits by variant. Use the specific version’s warranty terms on the live page when comparing coverage. The sources cited here do not establish a current, matched Lucid warranty comparison, so they cannot support a claim that one brand offers better coverage.

Service, repairs and resale

Published specifications do not answer how quickly a local service center can book a repair, what insurance will cost, or how either vehicle will depreciate. Get an insurance quote for the exact trim and address, check service access where you live, and review warranty terms and repair logistics before ordering. No matched repair-cost, insurance, depreciation or service-wait-time data is established by the cited material.

Company scale

Lucid reported 15,841 vehicle deliveries in 2025, $1,353.8 million in revenue for that year and approximately $4.6 billion in total liquidity at year-end. These are Lucid-reported figures in its February 24, 2026 results announcement. The company also revised its reported 2025 production to 17,840 after identifying vehicles that had not completed internal validation procedures. Deliveries and production are different measures. These figures describe company-reported scale and liquidity; they do not establish future financial health, vehicle quality, service coverage or resale value. The cited comparison does not provide matched current Tesla company figures. Lucid’s 2025 results release.

Which should you choose?

Choose by use case and exact configuration. An Air trim is worth comparing if you want a luxury electric sedan and prioritize the range figures Lucid publishes. Gravity deserves a closer look if you need a large SUV, up to seven seats and Lucid’s stated charging capability. A Model 3 or Model Y may fit better if its specific variant, local price, warranty or charging setup works for your needs. Manufacturer figures help narrow a shortlist; they do not replace a same-day price check, a review of warranty and service access, or a test drive.
