There is no clear-cut winner: the 2026 Lucid Air lineup offers a lower-priced entry trim and higher manufacturer-published range figures for its upper trims, while the Cars.com comparison’s 2026 Tesla Model S AWD entry has more listed power than the base Air Pure and all-wheel drive. The right choice depends on the exact trim, price, range and charging setup you plan to use.
Price: the Air Pure has the lower listed starting price
For the US 2026 model year, Cars.com lists the Lucid Air Pure RWD at $70,900 and the Tesla Model S AWD at $109,990. These are different configurations, not a matched-trim price comparison. Lucid’s July 2025 announcement lists the Air Pure at $70,900, Touring at $79,900 and Grand Touring at $114,900. Lucid says its prices exclude tax, title, license, options, destination and documentation fees; the final configured price can therefore differ.
That makes the Pure the lower-price way into the Air lineup based on these listed figures. It does not establish which car costs less to own: no comparable ownership-cost data is available here.
Range: compare the exact trim and source
Lucid says the 2026 Air Touring has an EPA-estimated range of 431 miles, and the Grand Touring is rated for up to 512 miles with 19-inch wheels. Those figures come from Lucid’s July 2025 lineup announcement. Its release cautions that actual range varies with temperature, driving habits, charging and battery condition.

Cars.com’s comparison page instead displays a 372–420-mile range for its Air entry and 309–410 miles for its Model S entry. These aggregated ranges do not align with Lucid’s trim-specific figures and are not a clean, same-trim comparison. Don’t combine them into a single ranking or assume the maximum listed range applies to every version.
For a purchase decision, check the EPA estimate for the exact model year, trim and wheel setup you are considering. The figures cited here do not establish a comparable 2026 Model S range for a specific configuration.
Power and drivetrain: the listed comparison is not like-for-like
Cars.com’s selected Air Pure entry is rear-wheel drive and lists 430 horsepower; its Model S entry is all-wheel drive and lists 670 horsepower. That supports a narrow conclusion about those database entries: the Model S has more listed power and AWD, while the selected Air Pure has RWD. It is not a matched performance test, and it does not show that every Model S is more powerful or quicker than every Air.
Charging: Lucid Air can use compatible Superchargers with an adapter
Lucid says all Air model years can use compatible North American Tesla Superchargers starting July 31, 2025, with a Lucid-approved DC NACS-to-CCS1 adapter. Lucid specifies V3-and-newer compatible stations and a maximum of 50 kW through this adapter setup. Access to the network therefore does not mean the Air charges at the same rate as a Tesla at a Supercharger.

Tesla’s official Model S page notes that charging performance varies with factors including Supercharger type, vehicle configuration, state of charge, battery temperature, speed, weather and elevation. The available figures do not establish a directly comparable US 2026 charging rate for both cars. Before a trip, verify station compatibility and the adapter requirement for your vehicle.
Efficiency, warranty and safety: what the available comparison establishes
Efficiency
Cars.com lists combined efficiency of 129–146 MPGe for its Air entry and 110–124 MPGe for its Model S entry. These are secondary comparison ranges rather than confirmed figures for one matched pair of trims, so check the exact configuration before using them to estimate energy use.

Basic warranty
Cars.com displays a basic warranty of four years or 50,000 miles for each selected vehicle. That field alone does not establish parity in battery or drive-unit coverage, nor does it compare service experience or reliability.
Safety ratings
No comparable, current, model-year-specific independent safety rating is established by the available information. Use current ratings for the precise model year and vehicle you are considering rather than inferring a safety winner from this comparison.

How to decide between them
- Consider the Air Pure if you want the lower listed entry price among these comparison entries and are comfortable with the selected Pure’s rear-wheel-drive configuration.
- Consider an Air Touring or Grand Touring if Lucid’s published range figures are central to your decision; confirm the precise trim, wheel setup and current EPA listing.
- Consider the Model S AWD entry if all-wheel drive and its higher listed horsepower than the Air Pure are priorities.
- Compare the exact cars you would buy on out-the-door price, range, drivetrain, charging access and rate, cabin and cargo needs, full warranty terms, local service access and current safety ratings.
These are specification-based tradeoffs, not a road-test verdict. The available data does not settle driving feel, comfort, cargo usability, service availability or lifetime cost.
