Lectric lists up to 50 miles of range for the 500W model and up to 85 miles for the 750W model, but those are estimates—not guaranteed distances. And “America’s bestselling ebike” is a description used in New Atlas’s May 7, 2025 launch coverage, not a sales ranking independently established by the sources available here.
What the XP4 headline refers to
The Lectric XP4 is a folding utility e-bike offered in 500W and 750W configurations. New Atlas’s May 7, 2025 article described the XP4 as America’s “bestselling ebike” and reported updates including a torque sensor, a more powerful 750W option, a larger battery option and technology and utility changes.
That bestseller wording needs qualification: the article does not provide a dated national sales ranking, geographic methodology or measurement period, and the available sources do not independently verify the claim. New Atlas also reported that Lectric had more than 400,000 riders in the U.S.; that company-related rider count is not audited sales data and does not establish a market-wide ranking.
XP4 500W vs. XP4 750W
Lectric’s current product pages distinguish the two models most clearly by battery capacity, stated range and charging time. The 750W page also specifies motor peak output and torque.

Range figures are Lectric’s estimates, not test results or guarantees. Lectric says actual range varies with load, terrain, weather and other conditions, so a rider carrying cargo, climbing hills or riding in adverse weather should expect the distance to differ from the advertised maximum.
What changed with the XP4
New Atlas reported that the XP4 launch brought an in-house torque sensor and a choice of 500W or 750W motor configurations, along with technology and utility updates. The live product pages list five riding modes, a thumb throttle and a removable battery for the current XP4 models.

The current 750W page identifies a 750W rear hub motor with 1,310W peak output and 85Nm of torque. The 500W page lists the 500W configuration and 500Wh battery; its current listing does not provide a comparable exact peak-output or torque figure. Do not treat launch-era reporting as a substitute for specifications on the configuration currently being considered.
Folding size, weight and carrying capacity
Lectric lists folded dimensions of 37 × 17 × 29 inches and a weight of 62 pounds with the battery removed on both current product pages. That is a substantial object to lift even when folded; buyers should check the storage location, vehicle loading method and the relevant frame variant before purchasing.

The integrated rear rack is listed with a 150-pound capacity. Lectric also sells a separate LevelUp Rack. On its 500W page, the company describes a child-seat installation path using the LevelUp Rack and a Thule Maxx Yepp Seat. That specific accessory route is not by itself a general assurance that every child seat fits or that every passenger setup is appropriate: confirm current fit and installation instructions, observe all applicable weight limits, and check local rules before carrying a passenger.
Battery safety and certification claims
Lectric states that the XP4 is UL 2849 certified and that its lithium-ion battery is UL 2271 certified. These are claims on the manufacturer’s product pages; they should be attributed to Lectric rather than presented as a statement from UL about this particular model.

Launch pricing is historical, not a current quote
New Atlas reported launch prices of $999 for the base XP4 and $1,299 for the XP4 750, with shipping expected to begin May 26, 2025. Those figures describe the launch announcement, not current pricing or availability. For context, the article quoted Lectric CEO Levi Conlow saying the company was determined to “hold the line on price.” That was a launch-era company statement, not evidence of today’s price or a verified comparison with the wider e-bike market.
Which XP4 configuration makes sense?
Choose the 500W model if
- The 500Wh battery and Lectric’s up-to-50-mile estimate suit your anticipated rides, with room for real-world conditions to reduce that distance.
- You value the listed shorter charging window: 4–6 hours with the included 2A charger, or as little as 2 hours with the optional 5A charger, according to Lectric.
Consider the 750W model if
- You want the larger 840Wh battery and the manufacturer’s higher up-to-85-mile estimate.
- You want the explicitly listed 750W nominal motor, 1,310W peak output and 85Nm torque.
- The longer listed charging time with the included 2A charger—7–9 hours—is acceptable, or you are considering the optional 5A charger, which Lectric says can charge it in as little as 3.5 hours.
Either choice still weighs 62 pounds with its battery removed according to Lectric, and both range claims depend on riding conditions. Compare the specification that affects your own use—battery capacity, charging routine, carrying needs and storage—rather than treating the 750W label or maximum range as a promise of a particular ride experience.
