Leapmotor announced a B10 Hybrid EV launch at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, but its announcement does not confirm that the hybrid will be sold in Europe—or give a European launch date, price or specification. The distinction matters because the EU duties often discussed in connection with Chinese cars apply to battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), not automatically to every electrified vehicle.
What Leapmotor announced about the B10 Hybrid EV
Leapmotor’s Brussels Motor Show announcement was headlined “New B10 Hybrid EV Launch” and described Europe as important to the brand’s global growth. It said the company was present in more than 40 markets and had a global network approaching 1,700 sales and service points. Those figures are company-reported, not independent measurements. The announcement establishes that Leapmotor presented or announced a B10 Hybrid EV launch. It does not establish that the hybrid is available to European customers. No European order date, price or buyer specification is given in that announcement.

What is known about European manufacturing plans
Stellantis and Leapmotor have separately announced an intention to expand their strategic partnership, including European manufacturing activity and potential B10 production at Zaragoza, with a possible start in 2026. “Potential” and “possible” are plans, not confirmation that production began. The announcement also does not establish that the Zaragoza-produced vehicle would be the B10 Hybrid EV. See Stellantis’ partnership and manufacturing announcement.

Even if a vehicle is assembled in Europe, that fact alone does not settle its customs origin or tariff treatment. Those questions depend on the vehicle and the applicable rules; local manufacturing plans should not be treated as proof of a tariff outcome.
Which Chinese-car imports the EU duties cover
On 29 October 2024, the European Commission announced definitive countervailing duties for five years on imports of battery-electric vehicles from China. The rates in the Commission release were:
Rank #2
| Company or category | Rate stated by the European Commission |
|---|---|
| BYD | 17.0% |
| Geely | 18.8% |
| SAIC | 35.3% |
| Other cooperating companies | 20.7% |
| Tesla, following individual examination | 7.8% |
| Other non-cooperating companies | 35.3% |
These are rates for the Commission’s BEV measure, not a universal rate for Leapmotor or for all hybrid vehicles. Whether a particular B10 version falls within the measure requires checking its legal powertrain classification, import origin, the applicable legal instrument and the company’s specific status. Read the Commission’s 29 October 2024 release.

Could a price undertaking change the tariff treatment?
In January 2026, the Commission published guidance explaining that price-undertaking offers under the BEV measure may address a minimum import price, sales channels, cross-compensation and future investment in the EU. The guidance describes a possible route for offers to be assessed; it is not evidence that Leapmotor has an accepted undertaking.
The Commission said: “Each price undertaking offer is subject to the same legal criteria and the European Commission will conduct each assessment in an objective and fair manner, following the principle of non-discrimination and in accordance with WTO rules.” Read the Commission’s 12 January 2026 guidance.

To know whether the B10 Hybrid EV is coming to Europe and how any duties might affect it, look for confirmation on four separate points:
- Sales: A specific announcement that the hybrid will be offered in Europe, with a market, order date and buyer details.
- Powertrain classification: Whether the vehicle is legally treated as a BEV or as a hybrid for the relevant measure.
- Origin: Where the vehicle is manufactured and how customs-origin rules apply; a planned European factory is not proof of the origin of a particular car.
- Current trade treatment: The legal measure and any exporter-specific undertaking applicable when the vehicle is imported.
Until Leapmotor or Stellantis confirms a European retail offer, the B10 Hybrid EV is an announced launch, not a confirmed European-market model. Its price, timing, specification and tariff treatment remain unestablished by the announcements cited here.
