The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is a limited-production V12 supercar built around a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter engine, active aerodynamics, and all-wheel drive. Lamborghini rates the coupe at 770 CV and claims 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, while independent testing highlights extraordinary acceleration—and a single-clutch transmission that can feel clunky. Its U.S. launch-era MSRP was $517,770; that historical figure is not a current used-car valuation.
Lamborghini Aventador SVJ review: what makes it different?
The SVJ is the most track-focused evolution of the Aventador, pairing the model’s naturally aspirated V12 with active aerodynamic control and chassis systems intended to manage its performance. It is not simply a more powerful Aventador: Lamborghini revised the body and aero package, and added its ALA 2.0 system to vary aerodynamic load as conditions change.
The structure is a carbon-fiber monocoque. Lamborghini’s design description includes a redesigned front end, larger side skirts, an omega-shaped rear wing, and exhaust outlets positioned higher and made lighter. The official Aventador SVJ model-history page provides exterior and interior imagery for seeing those details; check the caption or edition designation, since SVJ 63-specific details are not standard equipment on every SVJ.
What the road test says
Autocar’s road test describes the 6.5-liter V12’s acceleration as extraordinary. Its tested car weighed 1,770 kg and wore optional Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires, so those details describe that test car rather than every SVJ. Autocar also found the single-clutch transmission clunky compared with the smoother shifts expected from a modern dual-clutch system. The publication’s assessment captures the SVJ’s trade-off: visceral power and character, with a transmission that may feel less polished in everyday driving.

Autocar deputy road test editor Richard Lane wrote: “The centre clutch now disengages under braking for a more natural feel – a first for the Aventador and demonstrates that this Jota is much more than an outrageous bodykit”.

How ALA 2.0 works
ALA 2.0—Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva—uses electronically actuated flaps in the front splitter and engine hood to redirect airflow. By adjusting the airflow, the system is designed to provide high downforce when grip and stability are priorities or reduce drag when the car is traveling at speed. It changes aerodynamic behavior rather than relying on one fixed aero setting.
What the transmission feels like
Lamborghini presents its ISR robotized transmission as compact and lightweight. In Autocar’s independent road test, the single-clutch system’s shifts felt clunky. Those are distinct perspectives: the maker describes the system’s packaging advantages, while the road test notes a potential refinement compromise. The available evidence does not establish a universal owner experience.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ pricing
Lamborghini’s July 24, 2018 U.S. launch release set the SVJ coupe’s suggested retail price at $517,770, including gas-guzzler tax. Cars.com also lists $517,770 as the 2019 SVJ coupe starting MSRP. This is a historical U.S. launch-era/listed MSRP, not a current asking-price guide or an estimate of what a particular car will sell for. Used asking prices vary by market, vehicle, and listing date. As one dated European illustration—not a U.S. valuation or global average—Driveyart reported a median asking price of approximately €800,000 across 49 listings on October 2, 2026. Lamborghini’s Selezione certified pre-owned page describes 150 checks by trained technicians for the SVJ program. It also states program eligibility limits of less than 120 months old and no more than 70,000 km (43,500 miles). These are terms stated on the manufacturer’s page and may change. Certification describes a manufacturer-backed screening process; it does not mean every SVJ for sale has been inspected under this program, nor does an inspection guarantee that an individual car is trouble-free. - Confirm whether it is a coupe or Roadster, and whether it is the standard SVJ or SVJ 63.
- Compare mileage, condition, service documentation, and provenance.
- Check whether the vehicle has certification and what inspection history is documented.
- Record options and specification, then compare asking prices with the listing date and location.
The available listing snapshot does not quantify how much any one of these factors changes a car’s eventual transaction value. No independent ownership-cost study or reliability dataset is established here, so a precise cost-of-ownership or reliability claim would be unsupported.
