The Krug Expedition Bedrock XT2 is an Arctic Trucks-modified Ford F-550 carrying a roomy, off-grid camper module. The “mini mansion” description fits its residential amenities, but the important distinction is that the XT2 tested in 2025 had six wheels and only four driven wheels: it was a 6×4, not a 6×6.
What the Bedrock XT2 is
The XT2 is a bespoke expedition vehicle, not a conventional production motorhome. It pairs a Ford F-550 4×4 chassis cab with a Krug-built living module; Arctic Trucks modifies the truck for the conversion. Offroad Xtreme’s February 2025 report identifies its tested vehicle as an AT44 XT2. New Atlas’s 2024 feature describes a pictured XT2 with a 330-hp, 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel and a 10-speed automatic. Those powertrain figures describe that reported example, not a guaranteed specification for every build.

Six wheels do not necessarily mean six-wheel drive
The tested XT2 had a triple-axle rear arrangement and six wheels, but only four driven wheels—a 6×4 configuration. Offroad Xtreme reported that Krug expected six-wheel drive to become an option in the following model year; that was a forward-looking statement in a February 2025 article, not confirmation of current XT2 availability.
The extra, unpowered rear axle is reported to add braking and load capacity and to accommodate the longer camper module. The truck also has rear air springs, limited-slip differentials, large tires, and a central tire inflation system, according to the 2025 trail report. These features do not make the vehicle small or nimble: its scale and height constrain access on narrow and more technical trails.

Living space and sleeping
The insulated composite camper module connects to the chassis through a subframe intended to allow some independent movement when the truck is off-road. Inside, the reported XT2 has a king-size cabover bed and a dinette that converts into a second bed. The layout also includes storage, a full-height refrigerator/freezer, an oven, and a sink. Finishes can be customized.
New Atlas described its XT2 show vehicle as 27.5 feet long, with 2.4-inch composite walls. Those dimensions are the publication’s figures for the show vehicle, rather than universal specifications for every bespoke XT2.
Bathroom, heat, and optional equipment
Offroad Xtreme’s report describes a spacious bathroom, diesel heater, and two roof ventilators. It also lists optional equipment such as a washing machine and dryer, coffee maker, radiant floor heat, air conditioning, and Starlink internet. These are reported options, not a claim that every XT2 includes them.
Power and water capacity
The 2025 report lists a 1,450-watt solar array and 23.7-kWh battery, along with tanks holding 118 gallons of fresh water, 60 gallons of grey water, and 17 gallons of black water. It says the water is filtered and receives additional UV treatment. Offroad Xtreme relays Krug’s estimate of about ten days of self-contained camping; that is a manufacturer estimate reported by the journalist, not an independently measured endurance result. Actual time between resupply or charging depends on use and conditions.

What the trail report says about driving it
The Offroad Xtreme author drove on pavement, mountain roads, and nearby trails, but did not stay overnight in the camper. The author found the XT2’s weight, body lean, and floaty handling took adjustment. On rough roads, however, the report describes a smoother, quieter ride than expected, attributing that impression to the camper module’s isolation from chassis movement.
On trail, the truck handled rough dirt roads and obstacles, but the report also notes limited rear articulation and traction on more demanding terrain. These are one journalist’s driving impressions, not measured comparisons with other expedition vehicles.
How it differs from the current Bedrock XT3
Krug’s current Bedrock XT3 page describes a 6×6 Ford Super Duty F-550 Lariat developed with Arctic Trucks for the North American market. That identifies a separate current model offering; it does not establish that the XT2 has the XT3’s configuration or specifications. The 2025 report’s tested XT2 was a 6×4, and its comment about a possible future six-wheel-drive option was time-bound. Check with Krug for current XT2 specifications and order availability.
