The headline numbers are only half the story. The Gemera’s significance is its packaging: four individual seats, a B-pillarless body, automated full-length doors, all-wheel drive, four-wheel torque vectoring, and 200 liters of luggage space. It is not a conventional family car, nor is it simply a two-seat hypercar with a small rear bench. Koenigsegg developed it as what it calls a “Mega-GT.”
Koenigsegg Gemera quick verdict
The Gemera is one of the most technically ambitious road cars ever announced. Its current HV8 powertrain gives it a claimed 2,300 hp, while the cabin is designed to carry four adults rather than one passenger and a weekend bag. The result is a car that attempts to combine hypercar acceleration with long-distance usability.

But compared with other extreme-performance cars, the Gemera’s seating, luggage capacity, driver-assistance equipment, and access are unusually generous.
Koenigsegg Gemera price and production status
The Gemera was originally reported to start at approximately $1.7 million. That is the best-supported public starting-price reference, but it should not be mistaken for a current official U.S. MSRP or a guaranteed delivered price for an HV8 car.
Koenigsegg’s reviewed public materials do not establish a current fully specified customer price, a complete options list, taxes, delivery charges, or the final transaction price of an individual car. Specification, market, personalization, and delivery costs could all affect the final figure. Treat $1.7 million as an original reported starting reference, not a current factory quotation.

Koenigsegg announced a production ceiling of 300 cars when it unveiled the Gemera on March 3, 2020. That limited run is part of the car’s appeal and also explains why normal new-car pricing and ownership comparisons are of limited value.
The delivery schedule has changed. In July 2023, Koenigsegg said production would begin toward the end of 2024 and deliveries would follow in early 2025. Company annual-report material from 2024 described the production line as manufacturing initial examples and referred to a Q1 2026 client-delivery ambition. Independent reporting dated June 28, 2026 said the first customer-ready 2,300-hp Gemera was entering delivery.
The defensible current summary is that production has begun and first-customer delivery has been reported. The reviewed sources do not establish the exact number of completed customer cars, the current delivery cadence, or how many of the 300 allocations remain available.

The current Gemera is built around a 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Koenigsegg calls it the Hot V8 because the exhaust exits from the top center of the engine. The arrangement is intended to support an exceptionally compact and high-output installation while giving the rear of the car a distinctive technical layout.

The V8 is rated at 1,500 hp at 7,800 rpm and 1,500 Nm at 5,000 rpm, with an 8,500-rpm redline. A single in-house Dark Matter electric motor adds a claimed 800 hp and 1,250 Nm. Koenigsegg publishes a combined system rating of 2,300 hp and 2,750 Nm.
Those totals should not be added as though both sources necessarily deliver their peak output at the same instant under every condition. The 2,300-hp figure is the manufacturer’s combined system claim. It is nevertheless a useful description of the Gemera’s intended performance ceiling: this is a high-output hybrid system designed around both sustained engine power and electric torque delivery.
Why the production car changed from the concept
The Gemera shown at its March 2020 unveiling used Koenigsegg’s 2.0-liter, twin-turbocharged three-cylinder TFG, or Tiny Friendly Giant, engine. That engine was paired with three electric motors, and Koenigsegg announced a total of 1,700 bhp.
During development, Koenigsegg changed the production architecture. The original Direct Drive strategy used on the 2020 show car and early running prototypes was replaced by an LSTT layout derived from the company’s Jesko-related Light Speed Transmission. The three-motor arrangement was also replaced by the single Dark Matter motor, and the production car gained the 1,500-hp Hot V8 option that creates the 2,300-hp headline figure.
This is more than a minor trim update. The 2020 concept and the current production Gemera have different engines, motor arrangements, transmission strategies, and published output. Articles, videos, or images from the launch period may therefore describe a real Gemera concept without describing the car now entering customer delivery.
Performance: extraordinary claims, limited independent data
The original 2020 announcement claimed a 0-to-100-km/h time of 1.9 seconds, a 400-km/h target, and up to 50 km of electric driving for the earlier concept configuration. Later reporting associated the 2,300-hp production car with a 1.9-second 0-to-60-mph claim and a 249-mph top-speed claim.
Those numbers should be described as manufacturer claims or attributed reporting, not as independently verified test results. The reviewed material does not provide a documented road test, instrumented acceleration test, braking test, measured top-speed run, or firsthand driving evaluation of a customer HV8 Gemera.

What can be assessed confidently is the engineering logic. All-wheel drive gives the car a way to deploy its enormous output from a standing start. Four-wheel torque vectoring should provide control over the distribution of drive torque at each wheel. The electric motor can provide immediate response while the V8 supplies the high-output upper end. The LSTT transmission is intended to deliver rapid ratio changes without the conventional mass and interruption associated with some multi-speed drivetrains.

Whether the production car matches every published acceleration and top-speed claim in real-world conditions will require independent testing. Until then, “2,300 hp” is best read as a specification, not as a measured lap time or guaranteed result on every road surface.
Four-seat practicality and cabin technology
The Gemera’s defining feature is not simply that it has four seats. It is that the cabin was designed around four occupants from the beginning. The car uses a carbon-fiber monocoque, a B-pillarless body, and large automated doors intended to make access to both rows less awkward than in a typical two-door exotic.
Koenigsegg lists four equally sized heated and electrically adjustable bucket seats. The specification also includes Isofix child-seat attachment points, roof-rack mounts, infotainment, Apple CarPlay, over-the-air cloud functions, and four heated plus four cooled cup holders.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The four-seat layout does not turn the Gemera into an ordinary family vehicle. Rear-seat access, child-seat compatibility, luggage loading, and daily usability will still depend on the owner’s height, the chosen specification, local roads, and the practical limits of a very low car. It does, however, make the Gemera meaningfully more usable for four adults than most hypercars.
Luggage space
Koenigsegg lists 200 liters of luggage capacity and says the space can accommodate four full-sized carry-on bags. That is a remarkable claim in this class, but it remains modest beside a normal crossover or sedan. Think of it as enough for carefully planned short trips rather than unrestricted family-hauling ability.
Driver assistance and parking equipment
The official equipment list includes parking sensors, a reversing camera, bird’s-eye-view parking assistance, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, dead-angle detection, and self-parking. These features address some of the visibility and maneuvering challenges created by the Gemera’s low seating position and wide body.
They should not be confused with autonomous driving. The driver remains responsible for the car, and the availability or behavior of individual functions can vary by market and final customer specification.
Design: what to look for in Gemera photos
The Gemera’s proportions are unusual because the cabin, not just the engine bay, is central to the design. A good photo set should show the car from several angles rather than relying on a single front three-quarter image.

Use current production-specification imagery where possible. A 2020 concept image should be labeled as a concept or launch car, not presented as a photograph of a current customer vehicle. The 2020 launch material itself described its data as provisional, while the current technical specification is the better reference for production equipment.
Ownership, service, and rarity
Ownership is likely to be defined as much by support infrastructure as by performance. The Gemera combines a high-output internal-combustion engine, a high-voltage hybrid system, specialized transmission hardware, carbon-fiber construction, automated body systems, and limited production. Routine servicing is therefore not a task to assume any ordinary repair facility can perform to factory standards.
Koenigsegg Charlotte, described as a factory-authorized dealer, says its service operation has access to the latest software updates, factory bulletins, and parts designs. That supports the existence of a factory-linked service pathway for owners. It does not establish universal service availability, warranty terms, parts lead times, ownership costs, or road-registration status in every country.

Prospective owners should confirm, in writing and for their specific market:
- Which authorized service locations can support the Gemera;
- How software, hybrid-system, and high-voltage servicing is handled;
- Parts availability and expected lead times;
- Warranty coverage and maintenance requirements;
- Registration, emissions, lighting, and road-use requirements;
- Whether the final specification affects delivery timing or service support.
Gemera scale models and memorabilia
For enthusiasts who cannot buy one of the 300 full-size cars, a miniature is the most direct collector alternative. Koenigsegg Gear lists a Gemera 1:18 scale model as well as other Gemera-themed memorabilia, including an Art Deco poster. Inventory can change, and some merchandise has been shown as out of stock, so availability should be checked immediately before purchase.
A search for a Koenigsegg Gemera model car can be useful when comparing marketplace listings, but buyers should check the scale, manufacturer, finish, packaging, seller reputation, and whether the item depicts the original concept or the current production design. A scale model is a collectible representation, not an operating accessory or replacement part for the real car.
For official merchandise, compare the product description and photographs carefully. The current HV8 production specification differs substantially from the 2020 concept, so a model’s labeling and release date matter to collectors who want the later car.
Is the Koenigsegg Gemera a hypercar or a grand tourer?
It is both, but “Mega-GT” is the more useful description. Calling it only a hypercar emphasizes the power and price while missing the four-adult cabin, luggage capacity, cup holders, driver assistance, and long-distance design brief. Calling it only a grand tourer understates the 2,300-hp hybrid powertrain, four-wheel torque vectoring, and extreme performance targets.
The Gemera’s real achievement is the attempted combination. It does not make the compromises disappear; it makes them different. It is more accommodating than a conventional two-seat hypercar, yet far more specialized and expensive than any ordinary high-performance GT.

Bottom line
The current Koenigsegg Gemera is a limited-production four-seat Mega-GT powered by a claimed 1,500-hp Hot V8 and 800-hp Dark Matter electric motor. Its 2,300-hp total, nine-speed LSTT, all-wheel drive, four-wheel torque vectoring, B-pillarless access, and 200-liter luggage capacity make it unlike almost any other road car.
The key buying caution is to separate the original 2020 concept from the production car. The early 1,700-bhp three-cylinder configuration, Direct Drive transmission, and launch-era performance and range figures describe the original proposal, not the current HV8 specification. The best public pricing reference remains about $1.7 million from the original reports, while production has begun and first-customer delivery was reported in 2026. Final price, availability, production totals, and ownership logistics still require confirmation from Koenigsegg or an authorized representative.

How many Koenigsegg Gemeras will be made?
Koenigsegg originally announced a production limit of 300 cars. Production has begun, and independent reporting dated June 28, 2026 said the first customer-ready 2,300-hp Gemera was entering delivery. Exact completed-car totals and remaining allocations are not established by the reviewed sources.
What changed between the 2020 Gemera concept and the production car?
The original 2020 concept used a 2.0-liter twin-turbo three-cylinder Freevalve engine with three electric motors and a claimed 1,700 bhp. The current production car uses the 5.0-liter Hot V8, one Dark Matter motor, and the LSTT transmission, with a claimed 2,300 hp.
Does the Koenigsegg Gemera really have four seats and usable luggage space?
Yes. Koenigsegg’s current specification lists four individual heated and electrically adjustable bucket seats, Isofix, and 200 liters of luggage space. The company says that capacity accommodates four full-size carry-on bags, although the car remains far less practical than a normal family vehicle.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Koenigsegg Gemera is best understood as a four-seat, limited-production Mega-GT—not a conventional family car and not merely a stretched two-seat hypercar. Its current production specification claims 2,300 hp, 2,750 Nm, all-wheel drive, four-wheel torque vectoring, and 200 liters of luggage space. The original reported starting price was about $1.7 million, but a current delivered HV8 price and exact remaining allocation are not publicly established in the reviewed sources.
