Joe Burrow’s $3 million Batmobile purchase was later canceled. The Bengals quarterback announced on December 4, 2024, that he had bought a $2.99 million Wayne Enterprises Tumbler replica. After his home was burglarized later that month, he said in Netflix’s Quarterback that he abandoned the purchase. The evidence does not support calling Burrow the Tumbler’s current owner.
What actually happened
Joe Burrow did announce a nearly $3 million Batmobile purchase—but the story did not end with him taking delivery. On December 4, 2024, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback told teammates on HBO’s Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North that he had bought a Wayne Enterprises Tumbler replica for $2.99 million. After Burrow’s Cincinnati-area home was burglarized later that month, he said in Netflix’s Quarterback that he canceled the purchase.

That makes the headline “Joe Burrow Drops $3 Million on Batmobile” incomplete if it is read as a statement about his current garage. The available reporting supports this wording: Burrow announced the purchase, then later abandoned the plan. There is no reviewed evidence that he currently owns the Tumbler or reversed the cancellation.
Burrow’s Batmobile story, in chronological order
- December 4, 2024: ESPN reported that Burrow revealed the purchase during an episode of Hard Knocks. He described the vehicle as a Batmobile, and the reported price was $2.99 million.
- December 2024: Burrow’s home was burglarized while he was away with the Bengals for a road game. He said the experience made him feel that his privacy had been violated and declined to discuss many details.
- July 2025: ESPN reported that footage from Netflix’s Quarterback showed Burrow saying he did not ultimately get the Batmobile and had canceled the purchase after the burglary.
The reports are not necessarily contradictory. Burrow may have placed a deposit or otherwise committed to the deal before canceling it. What matters for current coverage is that the later cancellation report supersedes the original purchase announcement when describing ownership today.

What kind of Batmobile was it?
This was not a surviving movie prop from Christopher Nolan’s Batman films. It was a Wayne Enterprises Tumbler: an officially licensed, full-size replica of the armored vehicle featured in Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises.
Wayne Enterprises advertised the Tumbler as a limited collector vehicle, with only 10 examples planned. Its listed price was $2,990,000, and allocations were described as invitation-only. The company also described the vehicle as fully functional, although those specifications come from the manufacturer rather than independent road testing.
Wayne Enterprises Tumbler specifications
| Feature | Manufacturer-listed detail |
|---|---|
| Engine | 6.2-liter LS3 V8 |
| Output | 525 horsepower |
| Transmission | GM 4L85E with paddle shift |
| Weight | Approximately 5,511 pounds |
| Construction | Tubular aeronautical-steel frame with Kevlar, carbon fiber, sheet metal, and fiberglass |
| Seating | Two seats |
| Brakes | Four-wheel power disc brakes |
| Equipment | Digital performance dashboard, GPS systems, smoke-screen delivery system, imitation gun turrets, and a jet-engine simulation |
| Exterior | Black |
The dramatic equipment is designed to reproduce the cinematic experience. The manufacturer specifically describes the jet-engine effect as a simulation with no flames. The listed smoke system and imitation turrets should also be understood as replica features, not evidence that the vehicle is an armed military machine.

Could Joe Burrow legally drive it on public roads?
Readers should not picture Burrow commuting to Bengals games in the Tumbler. Although Wayne Enterprises presents it as functional, coverage of the vehicle has described it as not street legal. It is better understood as a limited-production collector build for private property, events, or display—not as a conventional road-registered car.

“Fully functional” therefore does not mean “approved for ordinary public-road use.” Registration, emissions compliance, lighting, visibility, dimensions, and local regulations can all prevent an extreme replica from qualifying as a normal street vehicle. The available evidence does not establish that Burrow’s example was road legal in Ohio or that he ever took delivery of it.
Why the burglary changed the story
The burglary is central to the Batmobile story, not just background celebrity news. Burrow said afterward that his privacy had been violated, and later reporting connected the experience with his decision to cancel the purchase. A high-profile, highly recognizable vehicle could create additional attention around a private residence, but the available reports do not justify publishing details about the home, its security, its location, or Burrow’s personal relationships.
The responsible conclusion is narrower: the break-in affected Burrow’s willingness to proceed with the Tumbler purchase. It is not responsible to speculate about the perpetrators, the vehicle’s intended storage location, or specific security concerns that have not been established by authoritative reporting.

A $2.99 million, invitation-only full-size replica is outside the realistic budget of nearly every Batman fan. A more accessible option is the LEGO DC Batman Batmobile Tumbler 76240, an officially licensed build-and-display model based on the Tumbler from the Dark Knight trilogy.

LEGO lists the set at 2,049 pieces and includes Batman and Joker minifigures, an information plaque, and a display stand. LEGO marks the set retired, so availability and pricing can vary considerably among Amazon and third-party sellers. It is a collector alternative—not something Burrow has been reported to own or endorse—and it should not be confused with the full-size Wayne Enterprises vehicle.
Where the footage appeared
Burrow’s original disclosure appeared in HBO’s Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North. The later account of the canceled purchase was documented through Netflix’s Quarterback, which follows NFL quarterbacks and includes Burrow’s storyline. Platform catalogs and viewing rights can change by country and over time, so readers should verify current availability directly with the relevant service.
The accurate bottom line on Joe Burrow’s Batmobile
Joe Burrow did not simply “drop $3 million” and become the confirmed owner of a Batmobile. He announced in December 2024 that he had bought one of 10 Wayne Enterprises Tumbler replicas for $2.99 million. Following the burglary at his home, he later said he canceled the purchase. Until a newer authoritative report says otherwise, the accurate description is that Burrow planned to buy the Tumbler but did not ultimately take ownership of it.
