What is the IWC Toto Wolff watch?
IW356201 is a 44 mm Big Pilot’s Watch edition named for Toto Wolff, CEO and Team Principal of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. IWC announced it on 17 February 2025 and limited production to 100 pieces. The name connects the watch to Wolff, but the product is a high-end mechanical timepiece rather than a Formula One instrument.
IWC says the SPRIN-g PROTECT shock-absorption system first appeared in 2021 on the earlier Shock Absorber XPL, reference IW357201. The Toto Wolff edition has a different reference, IW356201.
How does IWC’s Shock Absorber XPL system work?
IWC describes SPRIN-g PROTECT as using a cantilever spring to cushion the movement within the case. In the Toto Wolff edition, the spring is made of bulk metallic glass and coated with green Super-LumiNova. The stated design aim is to isolate the movement from shocks; these are manufacturer descriptions, not independently verified performance results.

IWC also describes the case and crown, made from Ceratanium, as combining titanium’s lightness and robustness with ceramic-like hardness. That is the manufacturer’s description of the material. No independent impact testing or performance measurements are established here, so the watch should not be treated as proven to withstand a particular impact or real-world crash.

What is known about the auction and collector context?
In 2025, IWC presented a Toto Wolff watch for a Laureus Sport for Good charity auction. IWC described that particular example as worn and shock-tested by Wolff, and reported an auction estimate of CHF80,000–200,000. The estimate is not a verified sale result, and a charity auction does not establish that another example is currently available or what it would sell for today.
The edition size of 100 makes IW356201 limited in production, but the available information does not establish current global stock, an independent market valuation, or a realized auction price. Anyone assessing a specific resale listing would need to verify its reference, condition, provenance, and seller independently.
