The distinction matters: Hudson had an earlier production Hornet; Dodge’s 2006 Hornet was a concept, not an old production model.
What does “old Dodge Hornet” refer to?
People asking about an old Dodge Hornet may mean either the Hudson Hornet or Dodge’s own 2006 concept. Stellantis’s August 16, 2022 launch announcement describes the revived Dodge badge as a name first used on the Hudson and later used for a Dodge concept in 2006. It does not identify an earlier production Dodge Hornet. Stellantis’s launch announcement is the basis for that stated lineage.
In short, the older production car was a Hudson, not a Dodge. The first production Dodge Hornet in the lineage described by Stellantis is the model introduced for 2023.

Stellantis’s 2022 announcement attributes the history to the nameplate, but it does not provide enough information for a detailed technical comparison between the Hudson car, the 2006 concept and the modern crossover.

Was the 2006 Dodge Hornet a production car?
No. The official account identifies the 2006 vehicle as a Dodge concept. A concept’s use of the Hornet name does not make it an earlier production Dodge model. The 2023 model-year vehicle is the production revival described in the announcement.
Is the modern Dodge Hornet still being produced?
As of October 4, 2026, Dodge’s Hornet FAQ says production has been paused indefinitely. Dodge also says vehicles may remain available at select dealers and directs shoppers to contact a local dealer or search new inventory. Availability can vary, so check with a dealer for current stock.

Can you buy an old Hornet badge?
Mopar’s catalog lists liftgate nameplates and left- and right-side fender emblems for the 2023 Dodge Hornet. These are accessories for the modern vehicle, not historical Hudson parts or evidence of an older production Dodge. Check the Mopar eStore catalog for current listings, fitment and availability.
