Yes. The Bugatti Tourbillon’s new 8.3-liter V16 is naturally aspirated: it has no turbochargers or superchargers. The car is still a hybrid, pairing that 1,000-hp combustion engine with three electric motors for a manufacturer-stated 1,800 hp combined.
What does naturally aspirated mean for the Tourbillon?
A naturally aspirated engine draws air in without a turbocharger or supercharger compressing it first. Bugatti’s Tourbillon V16 follows that approach, unlike the outgoing Bugatti W16, which used four turbochargers. Bugatti presented the Tourbillon on June 21, 2024, as its first model in more than two decades not powered by the marque’s W16.
The new engine displaces 8.3 liters and was developed with help from Cosworth, according to Bugatti’s launch announcement. Bugatti lists its weight at 252 kg. The V16’s lack of turbochargers does not mean the car lacks electric assistance: the Tourbillon’s combustion engine is part of a hybrid powertrain.
How much power does the V16 make by itself?
Bugatti assigns 1,000 hp to the V16 combustion engine, not 1,800 hp. The electric motors contribute another 800 hp, making the manufacturer-stated combined output 1,800 hp. Bugatti describes two electric motors on the front e-axle and one at the rear; its platform feature specifies 250 kW for each of the front motors.

Bugatti’s engine feature gives the V16 900 Nm of torque and says it reaches 1,000 hp at 9,000 rpm. The company lists a 0–100 km/h time of 2.0 seconds and a top speed of 445 km/h for the car. These are Bugatti specifications, not independently measured results. See Bugatti’s V16 engine feature.
How does the hybrid system fit with a naturally aspirated V16?
The electric motors provide power alongside the combustion engine; they do not turn the V16 into a turbocharged engine. Bugatti describes the hybrid system as closely integrated with the V16. The company’s CEO, Mate Rimac, said the electric powertrain enables the combustion engine, reflecting Bugatti’s explanation of the system’s role rather than an independent assessment.

Bugatti places a T-shaped battery centrally in the car and says it forms part of the monocoque structure. Its official pages conflict on capacity: the 2024 launch announcement states 25 kWh, while the platform feature states 24 kWh. Both give an all-electric range of more than 60 km. Bugatti does not resolve the capacity discrepancy in those pages. Details appear in the launch announcement and its platform feature.
Is the Tourbillon’s engine sound artificial?
Bugatti says the sound occupants hear is generated mechanically by the powertrain, not added as artificial engine noise through speakers. In a 2026 acoustic-development feature, the company said its team completed homologation testing after three years of development, with thousands of simulations involving intake and exhaust systems. The article discusses a 72-decibel maximum for the relevant test, while noting that vehicle homologation combines multiple measurements and depends on environmental conditions. How many Tourbillons will Bugatti build, and what did it cost at launch?
Bugatti announced a production run of 250 cars and a net starting price of €3.8 million in 2024. The launch announcement anticipated customer deliveries in 2026; a 2026 acoustic update does not confirm that deliveries have begun. The price and production figure are manufacturer-announced launch details, not a statement of current availability.
