No confirmed shutdown or bankruptcy appears in the company disclosures reviewed. LiveWire Group was still reporting results, producing motorcycles and describing future product plans in its second-quarter 2026 update. But it remains loss-making and is using cash, so active operations should not be mistaken for financial safety.
Is LiveWire going out of business?
There is no substantiated announcement in LiveWire Group’s latest reviewed filings and releases that it is closing, ceasing production or entering bankruptcy. The company reported results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and said production of its S4 Honcho had commenced, with first units expected at authorized retail locations later in summer 2026. That is evidence of ongoing operations, not a guarantee that the business will remain financially viable.
The useful distinction is between a rumor and a confirmed event. LiveWire’s disclosures show a company operating while carrying material financial risk: it continues to report losses and negative cash flow, and its 2025 annual filing said it did not expect positive operating cash flow during the following twelve months.

LiveWire Group’s second-quarter 2026 results show faster revenue growth alongside substantial losses. The figures below are company-reported; the year-to-date cash-flow measures cover the six months through June 30, 2026.

| Measure | Latest reported figure | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Consolidated revenue | $9.1 million in Q2 2026 | Up 55% year over year; includes both Electric Motorcycles and STACYC. |
| Net loss | $18.2 million in Q2 2026 | The quarter remained loss-making despite higher revenue. |
| Operating loss | $18.0 million in Q2 2026 | Reported for the Electric Motorcycles segment; the release described it as essentially flat year over year. |
| Electric motorcycle sales | 267 in Q2 2026 | Compared with 55 in Q2 2025; motorcycle revenue was $3.6 million versus $0.8 million. |
| Cash used in operating activities | $26.4 million year to date | Through June 30, 2026; improved versus the prior-year period but remained negative. |
| Free cash flow | Negative $27.7 million year to date | Through June 30, 2026; improved versus the prior-year period but remained negative. |
Revenue growth and a jump in motorcycle unit sales are positive operating signs, but neither means the company is profitable. Consolidated revenue also includes STACYC, LiveWire’s children’s electric balance-bike business: STACYC contributed $5.5 million in Q2 2026, while the motorcycle segment contributed $3.6 million. Segment revenue figures may not add exactly to consolidated revenue because of reporting adjustments.
How the annual loss trend compares
LiveWire Group’s FY2025 earnings release reported a net loss of $75.1 million, down from $93.9 million in FY2024. Its consolidated operating loss fell to $75.5 million from $110.4 million. The narrower losses are an improvement, but they are still large losses, not a turn to profitability.

The motorcycle segment’s annual picture was mixed. Electric motorcycle unit sales rose 7% to 653 in FY2025, while segment revenue fell 28% to $6.1 million, partly due to incentives. The segment’s operating loss declined to $73.8 million from $105.5 million in FY2024.
These are LiveWire Group’s standalone figures. Harley-Davidson’s FY2025 Form 10-K separately reported a $75.0 million operating loss for its LiveWire segment. The figures are related but use different reporting presentations and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Cash, financing and the role of Harley-Davidson
LiveWire Group is a separately traded public company, with Harley-Davidson as its majority shareholder. The distinction matters: LiveWire cautions that its standalone GAAP results may differ from the LiveWire segment figures Harley-Davidson reports.
At December 31, 2025, LiveWire reported $82.8 million in cash and cash equivalents. It also disclosed that it borrowed $75 million from Harley-Davidson on December 15, 2025. Those figures describe the company’s position at year-end and a specific borrowing; they do not establish how much cash was available at a later date or guarantee future parent-company support.

The most consequential warning in the 2025 Form 10-K is the company’s statement that it did not expect positive operating cash flow over the next twelve months. That disclosure is a reason to take the financial risk seriously, even as the company continues to operate and reports improvements in selected measures.
What would count as stronger evidence of a shutdown?
For a claim that LiveWire is “going under,” distinguish among poor financial performance, financing risk and an actual corporate event. Losses and negative cash flow are evidence of financial pressure; by themselves, they do not prove bankruptcy or closure. Stronger confirmation would be an official filing or company announcement that clearly states bankruptcy, a shutdown, or the end of production or operations.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Financial condition: Track losses, cash balances and cash use across reporting periods rather than relying on a single revenue-growth percentage.
- Motorcycle demand: Keep unit sales separate from revenue; incentives can affect revenue even when units rise.
- Company structure: Check whether a figure comes from LiveWire Group’s standalone reporting or Harley-Davidson’s segment reporting.
- Operational status: Production and delivery updates indicate current activity, but do not settle questions about long-term solvency.
- Confirmation: Treat a rumor differently from an announced event or a disclosure in a company or regulatory filing.
What LiveWire’s CEO said—and what it does not prove
In the Q2 2026 release, CEO Karim Donnez said the company had increased consolidated revenue by 55% year over year and improved year-to-date free cash flow by 19% versus 2025, attributing the improvement to commercial execution and cost management. That is management’s characterization of progress. It should be read alongside the quarter’s $18.2 million net loss and the negative $27.7 million year-to-date free cash flow.
As of the latest reviewed company disclosures, the accurate description is that LiveWire remained active but financially challenged. Those disclosures do not confirm that it is going out of business, and they do not establish that it is financially safe.
