Hyundai could be preparing two more conventional electric SUVs: a smaller model reported as the IONIQ 4 and a larger family SUV reported as the IONIQ 7. Those names and vehicle details are not confirmed by Hyundai. The company’s official roadmap points to new SUV entries, while recent reports supply the IONIQ 4 and IONIQ 7 labels and their place in the lineup.
What are Hyundai’s next two electric SUVs?
Reports published on 29 and 30 September 2026 describe a smaller SUV that could sit between the IONIQ 3 and IONIQ 5, plus a family-oriented SUV positioned between the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9. The reports call them the IONIQ 4 and IONIQ 7, respectively. Hyundai has not officially confirmed those names or provided vehicle specifications. electrive.com and Electrek both characterize details as unconfirmed.

“More normal” describes the reported direction, not Hyundai’s own wording: the smaller vehicle is said to have a sharper, more conventional SUV shape, while the larger one is described as a family SUV. Neither final design nor practicality details have been announced.
How confirmed is the IONIQ 4?
The IONIQ 4 name and its reported positioning remain unconfirmed. Hyundai’s 2026 CEO Investor Day roadmap lists an all-new B-segment SUV for Europe and a new global B-segment SUV, but does not identify either as the IONIQ 4. The roadmap supports the prospect of additional SUVs, not the reported model name or a specific vehicle’s design and equipment. Hyundai’s 2026 CEO Investor Day roadmap.

- WORKS WITH EVERY NON-TESLA EV: Standard J1772 connector plugs straight into Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Rivian, Lucid and every other EV or plug-in hybrid sold with a J1772 port - no adapter needed. Tesla drivers can charge too, using the J1772 adapter that comes with the car. The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway.
- HARDWIRED - PROFESSIONAL INSTALL: This Level 2 charger is hardwired (not plug-in), so a licensed electrician installs it per National Electrical Code. It delivers up to 48A on a dedicated 60A, 240V circuit - enough to charge most EVs fully overnight. Want more speed? You can set DIP switches 4 and 5 to unlock 50A on a dedicated 70A circuit. Before ordering, check your car's port type and that your electrical panel can support the circuit.
- CONTROL FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start and stop charging, set the charging speed (6-48A), get reminders, and track how much energy and money each charge uses. Requires a 2.4 GHz home WiFi network.
- SAFETY-CERTIFIED & WEATHERPROOF: Independently tested and certified (UL, ETL, FCC, Energy Star). A fully sealed IP66 / NEMA 4 housing stands up to rain, snow, heat and dust indoors or out, and internal steel shielding protects the electronics for years of reliable use.
- GLOW-IN-THE-DARK HOLSTER: The included high-visibility holster glows in the dark so you can find and dock the plug easily at night. Holds the connector securely when not in use.
Electrek reported a guarded response from Hyundai Europe product chief Chris McKinnon when asked whether a prospective B-segment SUV would be based on the Kia EV3: “I really can’t answer that question, to be honest,” followed by “Watch this space.” Those remarks are not a launch announcement or confirmation of the IONIQ 4 name. How the IONIQ 3 fits into Hyundai’s expanding EV lineup
Hyundai officially introduced the IONIQ 3 on 20 April 2026 as a compact electric hatchback for everyday European use. The company describes its “Aero Hatch” approach as a way to balance aerodynamic efficiency and interior space, and says the car combines bold design, simple-to-use technology and a spacious interior. That confirmed hatchback provides context for a broader lineup, but it is not evidence that the reported SUVs will share its specifications. Hyundai’s IONIQ 3 announcement.
Hyundai gives the IONIQ 3 a projected WLTP range of 344 km (Standard Range) or 496 km (Long Range), and an expected drag coefficient of 0.263. Separately, its 2026 roadmap states a 497 km (309-mile) range and says sales in Europe start in October 2026. These are Hyundai’s published figures for the IONIQ 3—not independent real-world results and not estimates for the reported IONIQ 4 or IONIQ 7. IONIQ 3 product announcement; 2026 roadmap.

Will the new Hyundai EVs come to the US?
That is not established. Hyundai’s roadmap identifies a new global B-segment SUV as well as an all-new B-segment SUV for Europe, but it does not connect either entry to the IONIQ 4 or IONIQ 7 names or specify which markets will receive those reported vehicles. No US availability, launch timing or pricing should be treated as confirmed.

For the reported IONIQ 4 and IONIQ 7, Hyundai has not confirmed production designs, prices, battery options, range, charging architecture, seating configurations, markets or launch dates in the cited official material. The September reports are recent, but the model discussion remains subject to change.
