Hyundai’s STARIA 11-seater is a market-specific version of the company’s spacious, spaceship-inspired minivan. Its unusual design is paired with a flexible cabin: Hyundai says folding the second-, third- and fourth-row backrests flat creates 2,468 mm of load length, though the 11-seat layout has an important limitation in that mode—the third-row center space is empty.
What Hyundai means by “cosmic” styling
Hyundai uses “cosmic” to describe the STARIA’s spaceship-inspired design, not a measured feature or a claim that every buyer will like its appearance. In its 2021 launch announcement, the company said the streamlined exterior was inspired by the form of a spaceship. The styling is connected to Hyundai’s “inside-out” design approach: the company says it prioritized interior space and usability when shaping the vehicle. That helps explain why the STARIA’s distinctive exterior is presented alongside a cabin designed to accommodate different passenger and cargo needs.
Is the Hyundai STARIA available as an 11-seater?
Yes, an 11-seat STARIA Wagon is offered in some markets. Hyundai’s original 2021 launch announcement described configurations ranging from two to 11 seats, while the company’s current Worldwide product page separately describes 9- and 11-seat Wagon versions. The seat count and exact vehicle configuration are not universal: Hyundai advises shoppers to select their country for local details, and notes that models and options can vary by country and change without notice. For that reason, confirm the local model’s seating layout, trim and equipment with Hyundai in your country before treating an 11-seat specification as available where you live.
How the 11-seat layout handles passengers and cargo
The STARIA’s cabin is intended to serve both passenger transport and load carrying. Hyundai highlights passenger room and multiple USB charging ports on its Wagon page. For additional cargo length, the company says the backrests of rows two, three and four can fold flat, creating 2,468 mm of load length.

The STARIA’s engine range has changed over time and differs by country. Hyundai’s 2021 global launch announcement described 2.2-liter diesel and 3.5-liter gasoline engines. A later refresh announced for South Korea in December 2025 lists LPG and 1.6-liter turbo hybrid powertrains for the new Korean range. As a dated South Korean example, Hyundai Motor Group’s December 17, 2025 announcement listed the 11-seat Tourer LPG Smart at ₩35,020,000 and Modern at ₩36,590,000; the 1.6 turbo hybrid Smart was ₩38,700,000 and Modern ₩39,990,000. - Whether the 11-seat Wagon is sold in your country and which trims offer it.
- The local powertrain, equipment and safety specification for the model year you are considering.
- How the seats fold and whether the empty third-row center space in full-flat mode suits your needs.
