The 2025 Indy 500 aired live on FOX, not Peacock. U.S. viewers without cable could watch through a local FOX affiliate received with an antenna or through a live-TV streaming service carrying that local station. The race was held on May 25, 2025, so current replay availability must be verified separately.
The short answer: the 2025 Indy 500 was on FOX, not Peacock
For U.S. viewers without cable, the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 could be watched live on FOX in one of two practical ways: receive a local FOX affiliate with an antenna, or subscribe to a live-TV streaming service that carried the viewer’s local FOX station.

The race was held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 25, 2025. FOX listed a 12:45 p.m. Eastern Time green flag. Because the event has already taken place, this is now a historical viewing guide—not a live countdown. Current replay availability must be checked separately.

- Use an antenna to receive the local FOX broadcast, if your address could receive that station.
- Use a live-TV streaming service carrying your local FOX affiliate.
- Check authorized FOX digital access, while recognizing that the exact access and authentication requirements were not established consistently enough to promise a standalone stream.
Option 1: Watch local FOX with an antenna
If your home could receive a local FOX affiliate over the air, an indoor HDTV antenna was the least expensive way to watch the broadcast-network race without cable or a paid live-TV subscription.

This option worked only if FOX was actually receivable at your location. Reception depends on factors including:
- Distance and direction from the local transmitter
- Terrain, hills, and surrounding buildings
- Building materials, especially metal and concrete
- Whether the antenna was placed near a window or high enough for a reliable signal
- Local-market coverage and the technical signal used by the affiliate
Check local FOX availability before buying. An antenna receives broadcast channels; it does not provide FS1, FS2, streaming-only content, or guaranteed access to practice and qualifying coverage. It was useful for the live Indy 500 itself because that event aired on the FOX broadcast network.
For readers whose address is within reliable broadcast range, an indoor HDTV antenna is the most direct product fit for this kind of no-cable setup. Do not assume that a package’s advertised range guarantees reception in your home.

Option 2: Stream FOX through a live-TV service
FOX’s 2025 viewing guide identified YouTube TV, Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, and fuboTV as cable-free services that could carry FOX, FS1, and FS2. The decisive qualification was local-channel availability: the service needed to carry your local FOX affiliate in your ZIP code.

| Service | What to verify | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube TV | Whether your local FOX station is included, plus current price, trial terms, and supported devices | Prices and promotional terms change; do not reuse historical 2025 pricing as current information. |
| Sling TV | Whether FOX was available in your market and which plan or local-channel arrangement applied | FOX availability is market-dependent, so Sling was not universally equivalent to an antenna. |
| Hulu + Live TV | Local FOX availability, current plan terms, and device support | A regular on-demand Hulu subscription is not the same product as Hulu + Live TV and did not automatically provide the live FOX broadcast. |
| fuboTV | Local FOX availability, current channel lineup, plan, trial, and supported devices | Channel lineups and promotional offers can vary by market and date. |
Before signing up, enter your ZIP code on the provider’s official website and confirm that the listing says FOX, not merely a sports channel such as FS1. Then check whether the service supports your television, streaming box, phone, tablet, or web browser.
A live-TV subscription could also have been useful for other INDYCAR programming and sports channels, but it was a recurring service rather than a one-event purchase. Since prices, trials, device rules, and local carriage change, current terms should always be checked instead of relying on the conditions that existed on May 25, 2025.
Option 3: FOX digital viewing
FOX held the 2025 U.S. rights and promoted its digital products alongside traditional and live-TV distribution. However, the available historical information does not conclusively establish whether a standalone, unauthenticated direct stream specifically for the 2025 Indy 500 was available, or whether FOX Sports access required a login from a participating television provider.
The safe historical advice is therefore: check FOX’s authorized digital viewing options, but do not assume that creating a free FOX Sports account alone supplied the live race. A direct FOX streaming product, its name, pricing, and authentication rules may change for a future Indy 500 and require a fresh check.

Why INDYCAR LIVE was not the same-day U.S. solution
Some search results may point viewers toward INDYCAR LIVE, INDYCAR’s streaming service. For the 2025 season, INDYCAR’s official territory information listed the United States with a 24-hour delay for practice, qualifying, and race coverage on INDYCAR LIVE.
That made INDYCAR LIVE unsuitable as the same-day live U.S. alternative to FOX for the 2025 Indy 500. International rights can be different: a service that offered live coverage in another country was not necessarily authorized to show the race live in the United States.
Was the 2025 race available to replay?
The 2025 event is over. FOX, a live-TV provider, or another authorized distributor may have offered replay access, but availability can expire or vary by subscription and location. Do not assume that a current FOX, Peacock, or INDYCAR LIVE subscription includes the complete 2025 race replay without checking the service’s present library and territorial restrictions.

| Your situation | Most suitable route |
|---|---|
| You already receive a strong local FOX signal | Use an antenna; it avoids a recurring live-TV subscription. |
| You want FOX plus other live sports and channels | Compare live-TV services, beginning with local FOX availability in your ZIP code. |
| You are outside the United States | Check the rights holder and authorized service for your country; U.S. FOX and INDYCAR LIVE rules may not apply. |
| You only want a replay | Check the current on-demand libraries of authorized distributors rather than assuming live access remains available. |
| You found an old page recommending Peacock | Check its date. Peacock was part of NBC’s 2024 coverage, not the primary live U.S. route for the 2025 race. |
Bottom line
The accurate historical answer is FOX, not Peacock. A U.S. viewer without cable could watch the 2025 Indy 500 with a local FOX signal and an antenna, or through YouTube TV, Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, or fuboTV if that service carried the viewer’s local FOX affiliate. INDYCAR LIVE was not the same-day live U.S. solution because its 2025 U.S. listing specified a 24-hour delay.
