To customize a Tucson, first identify its model year and infotainment system: vehicle-feature settings, touchscreen layout options, and physical-button assignments live in different menus, and the available controls vary by vehicle. Make changes while parked, then follow the owner’s or infotainment manual that matches your Tucson.

The practical starting point is to decide what you want to change: a vehicle feature, the arrangement of the touchscreen, or the job assigned to an equipped Custom button. Those are separate tasks, and a menu path shown for one Tucson system may not exist on another.

Start by identifying your Tucson’s system

There is no single touchscreen path that applies to every Hyundai Tucson. Menu names and available settings can vary with model year, market, trim, installed head unit, and software version. Hyundai also cautions that infotainment screens and options may vary by vehicle specification, and its 2025 Tucson owner’s manual notes that software updates can change the infotainment system.

Before following an online guide, check the model year and market of your vehicle and identify whether it has navigation, Display Audio without navigation, or another infotainment configuration. Match those details to the applicable owner’s manual and infotainment guide. If a generic manual shows a menu or button your vehicle does not have, treat the equipment in your Tucson as the deciding factor.

A useful first check is to compare what you see in the car with the guide’s own system description and button labels. Do not rely on screen size alone to identify the system: the 2025 U.S. Tucson specifications list a 12.3-inch touchscreen, but that specification is not a universal description of every model year, market, or trim. If your Tucson has a different display or menu labels, that is a reason to confirm the correct guide, not to assume the car is missing a setting.

For context, Hyundai Motor America’s specifications for the 2025 U.S. Tucson list a 12.3-inch touchscreen and steering-wheel-mounted audio, cruise, and Bluetooth controls. Equipment can vary by trim; those specifications do not establish that every Tucson has the same screen or control layout.

Think of the manual as a system-specific map rather than a promise that every Tucson has every listed feature. An online manual can document options for a particular platform, while the car’s actual equipment determines whether a control or menu is present. This distinction matters especially when comparing guides from different markets, since an India-market manual, for example, may be useful for broad categories without matching the equipment or labels in a U.S. vehicle.

Change vehicle features through SETUP

Vehicle-feature settings and touchscreen personalization are related, but they are not the same menu. In the 2025 Tucson NX4 owner’s manual, the documented route to vehicle-feature settings is to press SETUP on the infotainment head unit and select Vehicle. The specific categories depend on the vehicle’s functions.

  1. Park the Tucson before changing settings.
  2. Press the head unit’s SETUP control.
  3. Select Vehicle on the screen.
  4. Choose an available category—such as driver assistance, cluster, climate, seat, lights, door, or convenience—and change only the setting you intend to adjust.
  5. If the described category or control is missing, consult the manual for your model year and installed system rather than assuming the vehicle has that feature.

The category examples come from a Hyundai India-market 2025 Tucson manual. They illustrate the kinds of vehicle settings that may be available, but they should not be treated as a guaranteed list for a Tucson sold in another market. The manual’s central instruction is to use the functions available in the particular vehicle.

Use this route when the change concerns how the vehicle itself behaves, rather than how the infotainment home screen is laid out. The documented categories show why the distinction is useful: driver assistance, cluster, climate, seat, lights, door, and convenience are vehicle-feature areas. They are not a general list of touchscreen widgets or Custom-button assignments. If you are unsure which group contains a desired setting, check the matching manual’s index or contents rather than trying unrelated options.

When you enter a category, read the displayed setting name before changing it. Make one adjustment at a time so that you can tell what changed, and leave an option alone if its effect is unclear. The available categories depend on the vehicle’s functions, so the absence of a particular heading does not by itself show that something is broken. It may simply not apply to the vehicle’s equipment or software.

Do not turn the parked setup process into a driving task. Hyundai’s instruction is specific to Vehicle Settings: do not operate those settings while driving because distraction can cause an accident. Choose a safe parked moment, complete the adjustment, and only then resume driving.

Personalize the home screen and quick controls

Touchscreen layout options depend on the infotainment platform. Hyundai’s U.S. English ccNC Lite manual index, for example, includes sections for changing the home-screen layout, editing Quick Control, setting the split screen, and adjusting display and sound settings. That index documents options for ccNC Lite; it does not show that every Tucson uses that system or offers every listed function.

  1. Open the guide that matches your Tucson’s infotainment system.
  2. Look for its instructions on home-screen layout, Quick Control, split-screen settings, display, or sound.
  3. Use the on-screen controls and labels shown in that guide. If a feature is absent from your system, do not assume it can be enabled through another menu.

Use this path when you want to change how the infotainment screen is arranged or which controls are readily accessible. Use SETUP > Vehicle when you are changing an available vehicle feature. Keeping those two tasks separate helps avoid searching for a screen-layout option in the vehicle-feature menu, or vice versa.

For a home-screen change, first confirm that the manual’s home-screen section applies to the installed system. Then follow the documented steps on the screen and check the result before moving on to another setting. The ccNC Lite index establishes that the platform has documented guidance for home-screen layout; it does not establish which exact tiles, ordering choices, or gestures appear on every Tucson. Those details should come from the guide that matches the vehicle rather than from assumptions based on another Hyundai model.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Quick Control and the home screen are related in that both affect access to infotainment functions, but they are distinct subjects in Hyundai’s ccNC Lite documentation. If your goal is to make an option easier to reach, check which of those topics the system manual uses. Do not assume a Quick Control edit will also rearrange the home screen, or that the same feature can be placed in both locations.

The split-screen, display, and sound sections are further examples of platform-specific personalization topics. They should be treated as guide headings to investigate, not as guarantees that each feature is available or can be customized on all Tucson versions. Use the settings actually presented on your screen. If a menu is not present, return to the system identification step and verify the guide before continuing.

Assign an available Custom button

Some Hyundai infotainment systems let drivers assign a function to a physical Custom button. Hyundai’s button-settings manual documents this path: Home screen > All Menus > Setup > Button. It describes assignments for a control-panel Custom button, a steering-wheel Custom button when equipped, and the media-source behavior of the steering-wheel MODE button. The screen and assignment choices vary with the vehicle’s equipment.

  1. With the vehicle parked, open the home screen.
  2. Select All Menus, then Setup, then Button.
  3. Select the Custom button you want to configure, if it appears in the menu.
  4. Choose from the functions actually offered on the Tucson’s screen and confirm the assignment as directed there.
  5. Test the button while stationary so you know what it does before relying on it during a drive.

If there is no steering-wheel Custom button, or the Button menu does not offer a particular assignment, the control or function may not be available on that configuration. Hyundai’s online button-settings page explicitly warns that screens and options vary; its choices should not be assumed to apply to every Tucson.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The key distinction is between an available physical Custom button and other physical controls that happen to be nearby. The documented setup menu concerns a control-panel Custom button and, when fitted, a steering-wheel Custom button. It also covers media-source behavior for the steering-wheel MODE button. It does not mean that every button on the console or wheel can be assigned a new function.

Before choosing an assignment, decide which physical button you intend to use and verify its label and location in your car. If your vehicle has more than one Custom button, select the corresponding entry shown in the Button menu rather than assuming one assignment controls them all. The manual’s exact options depend on equipment, so use the displayed list as the limit of what can be configured on that vehicle.

After assigning a function, test it while parked and confirm that the button produces the expected action. If the screen requires confirmation, follow its instruction; if you cannot find the assignment or the menu presents different choices, stop and check the correct guide. Do not keep trying unrelated menus in search of a function that may not be offered for that equipment configuration.

Understand what the steering-wheel controls can—and cannot—change

The 2025 U.S. Tucson specifications list steering-wheel-mounted audio, cruise, and Bluetooth controls, with equipment variation by trim. Those controls are not all necessarily customizable. The documented button-settings menu covers an equipped steering-wheel Custom button and the MODE button’s media-source behavior; it does not establish that every audio, cruise, or Bluetooth control can be reassigned.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To check whether a particular control can be customized, look for it in the vehicle’s Button settings and consult the matching manual. If it is not presented as an assignable control, do not infer that a hidden setting exists. A control’s physical presence and its programmability are separate questions.

This comparison helps prevent a common misunderstanding: the presence of a control on the steering wheel tells you what the vehicle is equipped with, not necessarily whether its function can be changed. Hyundai Motor America lists audio, cruise, and Bluetooth controls in the 2025 U.S. specification context. Hyundai’s button-settings instructions separately identify the steering-wheel Custom button when equipped and describe MODE-button media-source behavior. Those descriptions should not be merged into a claim that all steering-wheel buttons are remappable.

If you are deciding between a control-panel Custom button and a steering-wheel Custom button, first compare the exact buttons and assignment choices actually shown by your Tucson. The available button may vary, and the manual does not establish that one location is universally better. Choose only among the offered assignments and consider which physical control you can identify reliably while parked. Do not infer a preferred arrangement for every driver or trim.

Make changes safely and recover from a mismatch

Hyundai’s Tucson manual warns: “Do not operate the Vehicle Settings while driving. This may cause distraction resulting in an accident.” Make these adjustments while parked, not while moving. If you are unsure what a setting changes, leave it unchanged until you can check the matching manual.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • A menu name does not match: Verify that the guide is for the correct model year, market, and infotainment system. Other Tucson years and markets may use different labels.
  • A documented option is missing: Check the actual trim and equipment. A feature shown in a general manual may not be fitted to your vehicle.
  • The screen changed after an update: Hyundai notes that software updates can change the infotainment system. Consult the current guide for the installed system rather than relying on an older set of screen directions.
  • You are unsure which guide applies: Hyundai’s update-support site separates guides for infotainment, Display Audio without navigation, and Bluelink OTA updates. The site displayed September 30, 2025 as its guide date; that date does not establish that an update is available for a particular vehicle identification number.

A missing menu is a cue to verify, not an invitation to improvise. Check the vehicle’s model year and system, then compare those details with the manual’s scope. Confirm that the feature is present in the trim or equipment you have. If the guide applies but the menu still differs, account for the software version because Hyundai says updates may change the infotainment system.

Keep the tasks separate while troubleshooting. If a vehicle-feature category is missing, check the owner’s manual section for vehicle settings. If the home-screen or Quick Control instructions do not match, check the infotainment system guide. If the Button menu or an assignment is missing, confirm the button’s equipment and the system-specific button instructions. One mismatch does not establish that all personalization options are unavailable; it may mean that the wrong guide or menu is being used.

Hyundai’s update-support site lists distinct user-guide categories for infotainment, Display Audio without navigation, and Bluelink OTA updates. These are different kinds of guidance: the infotainment or Display Audio guide helps identify the system’s menu instructions, while the Bluelink OTA guide concerns the update process. The site’s displayed guide date, September 30, 2025, is not proof that an update is available for a particular vehicle identification number. Check the vehicle-specific information rather than treating a page date as an update notice.

No special accessory is needed for these built-in settings. The documented procedures use the installed screen, controls, and software. A screen protector does not add configuration options, and replacement controls or repair tools are not part of routine menu customization. If a control is defective rather than merely unfamiliar, that is a different issue from assigning a supported shortcut.

Use the right manual, not a universal menu map

Hyundai publishes system-specific instructions, and the appropriate one depends on the Tucson’s equipment and software. The 2025 NX4 manual documents the SETUP > Vehicle entry point; the ccNC Lite index lists examples of screen-personalization topics; and Hyundai’s button-settings manual describes a Custom-button setup path for systems that provide it. These references are useful only where their system and equipment match the car.

When a step fails to match the screen, stop there and confirm the guide before trying another route. That is especially important when comparing a manual for a different market: the cited 2025 India-market owner’s manual supports the general settings categories and safety warning, not a promise that the same equipment or labels appear in a U.S. Tucson.

In practical terms, use the matching manual for the task in front of you: the owner’s manual for vehicle-feature settings and safety guidance, the infotainment manual for screen layout and Quick Control topics, and the relevant button-settings instructions for Custom-button assignments. Hyundai’s update support page further distinguishes infotainment, non-navigation Display Audio, and Bluelink OTA guides. These categories help narrow down the right documentation; they do not establish that a particular update or feature is available for your vehicle.

Use three checks before making a change: Does the manual match your model year and market? Does it describe the infotainment system installed in your Tucson? Is the control or function actually present in your trim? A “yes” to all three gives you the strongest basis for following a menu path. If one answer is unclear, verify it first rather than treating an online screenshot as a universal map.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a 2025 U.S. Tucson, Hyundai Motor America’s specifications provide useful context about the screen and steering-wheel controls, but specifications are not a substitute for the correct operating instructions. The 12.3-inch display listing and audio, cruise, and Bluetooth control listing describe the specified model-year context, with trim variation. They do not confirm which personalization menus appear in a particular vehicle. Likewise, an index entry for ccNC Lite demonstrates that those topics are documented for that platform but does not identify every Tucson as ccNC Lite-equipped.

For a vehicle feature, start with the documented SETUP > Vehicle route where applicable. For screen arrangement, use the personalization topics in the matching infotainment guide. For a physical shortcut, use the documented Button menu only if the relevant Custom button and option are present. This approach avoids confusing a generic manual with a guarantee about your own car.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I customize the Hyundai Tucson touchscreen?

First identify the infotainment system in your Tucson and use its matching manual. Screen personalization is separate from vehicle-feature settings. Hyundai’s U.S. English ccNC Lite manual index, for example, has sections on home-screen layout, Quick Control, split screen, display, and sound, but those options are not guaranteed on every Tucson.

How do I change the home screen on a 2025 Tucson?

The exact steps depend on the infotainment system installed in that 2025 Tucson. Check the matching system guide for home-screen layout instructions; the ccNC Lite index documents a home-screen layout section for that platform, not for every Tucson. Use the labels shown on your own screen.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I change what the star or Custom button does?

Hyundai’s button-settings manual documents a route of Home screen > All Menus > Setup > Button for systems that provide the feature. It describes assigning a function to the control-panel Custom button and, when equipped, the steering-wheel Custom button. Available buttons and assignment choices vary by vehicle, so confirm what appears in your Tucson’s menu.

How do I customize the steering-wheel buttons?

The documented button-settings guidance covers an equipped steering-wheel Custom button and the MODE button’s media-source behavior. It does not establish that all audio, cruise, Bluetooth, or other steering-wheel buttons can be reassigned. Check the Button settings menu and your matching manual before assuming a control is customizable.

Where do I change vehicle settings, and can I do it while driving?

In the 2025 Tucson NX4 manual, the route is to press SETUP on the infotainment head unit and select Vehicle. Available categories depend on the vehicle’s functions. Hyundai warns not to operate Vehicle Settings while driving because distraction may cause an accident; make changes while parked.

Why don’t my Tucson’s menus match an online guide?

Menus can differ by model year, market, trim, infotainment system, equipment, and software version. Hyundai also notes that infotainment updates can change the system. Verify that the guide matches your vehicle and check the actual controls and options shown on its screen.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Customize the Tucson by task, not by assuming one universal menu: use SETUP > Vehicle for applicable vehicle features, the matching infotainment guide for home-screen and Quick Control options, and Setup > Button for supported Custom-button assignments. Menus and equipment vary, so confirm the system in your vehicle and make settings changes while parked.
