How to Choose Between a Porsche 911 Turbo S and Other High-Performance GT Cars

The 911 Turbo S pairs all-wheel drive with Porsche-claimed hybrid performance, but the Carrera GTS and Bentley Continental GT S may better suit different budgets and priorities.

If you want an all-wheel-drive 911 with extraordinary manufacturer-claimed performance, the 911 Turbo S belongs on your shortlist. It is not automatically the best high-performance grand tourer for every buyer: the 2027 US model starts at $272,650, while the 911 Carrera GTS starts at $183,350, and Bentley’s Continental GT S takes a more explicitly luxury-oriented approach. Choose by comparing the exact local configuration, cabin priorities, daily-use needs and ownership costs—not by treating headline acceleration as the whole decision.

Start with the choice you are actually making

“Porsche 911 Turbo” can mean several generations and trims. The current comparison here is specifically about the 911 Turbo S, with Porsche’s US page listing 2027 model specifications and prices. A Porsche newsroom release dated September 7, 2025 describes the 2026 model. Those references are useful, but their figures should not be blended: check the model year and market on the car you are considering.

The relevant alternatives are not interchangeable. The 911 Carrera GTS is a lower-priced, rear-wheel-drive 911 with less power; Bentley’s Continental GT S is a hybrid luxury-GT comparison point with its own performance focus and cabin options. The right question is whether the Turbo S’s particular combination of 911 format, all-wheel drive and performance is worth its price premium for your driving and touring priorities.

That framing matters because a high-performance GT is not simply a way to buy the biggest power or fastest acceleration number. You are choosing a car to use, configure and own in a particular place. A buyer who wants a Porsche 911 with all-wheel drive may value the Turbo S’s package differently from someone whose first priority is a bespoke-feeling cabin, or from someone who wants a 911 but would rather keep nearly $90,000 of the listed starting-price gap. There is no single specification that settles those different preferences.

What the current specifications say

The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications, not the results of an independent, same-day comparison test. Porsche’s US prices are listed starting prices; taxes, options, availability and transaction prices can differ. Bentley’s speed figure is specifically labelled “Max Track Speed,” so it should not be read as an identically defined test result to every other brand’s top-speed claim.

Model and source context Powertrain and drive Manufacturer-listed performance US starting price
2027 Porsche 911 Turbo S, US comparison page PDK automatic; all-wheel drive. Porsche’s 2026 announcement describes a 3.6-litre flat-six T-Hybrid system with two electric turbochargers and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed PDK. 516 kW / 701 hp; 0–60 mph in 2.4 seconds with Sport Chrono Package; 200 mph top speed. $272,650
2027 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, US comparison page PDK; rear-wheel drive. 391 kW / 532 hp; 0–60 mph in 2.9 seconds with Sport Chrono Package; 194 mph top speed. $183,350
Bentley Continental GT S, US technical page High Performance hybrid powertrain; Bentley describes it as V8-based. 671 BHP combined system power; 686 lb-ft combined system torque; 3.3 seconds from 0–60 mph; 191 mph “Max Track Speed.” Not stated on the cited US technical page.

The Porsche US comparison puts the Turbo S $89,300 above the Carrera GTS at their listed starting prices. That gap is the practical in-family decision: whether the Turbo S’s extra output, all-wheel drive and top-line specification matter enough to justify spending substantially more. The figures do not establish that the Turbo S is a better value for every driver.

The price difference is a starting point for a fair comparison, not a complete purchase budget. Build both Porsche configurations with the equipment you actually want, then compare the resulting totals. Do the same for any Bentley you are considering, using a local quote because the cited Bentley technical page does not give a US starting price. Include applicable taxes, delivery charges and other local costs, and distinguish a manufacturer’s base price from a dealer’s offer or a final transaction price. The cited pages do not establish those final amounts or which car will cost less to configure.

Likewise, the figures describe different kinds of claims. The Porsche figures include acceleration tests with Sport Chrono Package, while Bentley gives a 0–60 mph time and calls its maximum speed “Max Track Speed.” A reader can use the figures to understand each maker’s stated performance, but should not turn them into a definitive ranking from a standardized comparative test that was not conducted in the cited sources.

Keep Porsche’s international figures separate

Porsche’s international Turbo S page lists 523 kW / 711 PS, 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds with Sport Chrono Package, and a 322 km/h top speed. It also lists combined model-range consumption of 11.7–11.5 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 266–261 g/km. These are international-page figures, not US fuel-economy estimates or predictions of real-world consumption. Porsche’s US page instead lists 516 kW / 701 hp and US customary performance units. Do not combine the two markets’ figures into a single specification line.

In practice, first decide which market’s car you are shopping for, then use that market’s figures consistently. The international page’s PS and km/h figures and US page’s hp and mph figures are regional presentations, not an invitation to assemble a hybrid specification from whichever number looks most impressive. The international consumption range is also a manufacturer-published model-range figure; it should not be treated as a promise of what a particular driver will see in daily traffic, on a long trip or on track.

How the Turbo S powertrain differs

The international Porsche page describes a rear-mounted 3.6-litre flat engine, an electric motor integrated into the PDK transmission and two electric turbochargers. Porsche’s September 2025 announcement for the 2026 model specifies 701 hp, 590 lb-ft maximum torque and a 1.9-kWh high-voltage battery; it says the integrated motor in the eight-speed PDK sends power to Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive. Those are Porsche’s technical claims for the announced model, not independent measurements.

Bentley’s GT S represents a different hybrid approach: its US technical page lists a 25.9-kWh battery, 671 BHP combined power and 686 lb-ft combined torque. Battery size alone does not say how either car will feel in a particular commute or on a trip. The published specifications establish different engineering layouts, but not a definitive real-world winner in response, efficiency or driving character.

The key distinction for a buyer is therefore the shape of the package, not an assumption that “hybrid” means the same thing in both cars. Porsche describes a T-Hybrid system built around a flat-six, two electric turbochargers, an electric motor integrated into the PDK and all-wheel drive. Bentley’s listed GT S system is a High Performance hybrid with a larger stated battery and a V8-based layout. Those details help identify what you are comparing; they do not, on their own, tell you which car is quieter, more economical, quicker in an independent test or better suited to your route.

Do not infer plug-in range, charging time, fuel-saving potential or charging requirements from battery capacity alone. The cited specifications provide battery sizes but do not establish those use-case details or comparative consumption. If your decision depends on how the hybrid systems work in your routine, ask the dealer for the exact market-specific operating information and look for independent testing that evaluates the particular model year.

Choose by the kind of GT you want to live with

Shortlist the Turbo S if the 911 format and all-wheel-drive performance are central

The Turbo S is the clearest fit if you specifically want Porsche’s all-wheel-drive 911 performance package and are prepared for its price point. Porsche lists active-damping Porsche Active Suspension Management, active aerodynamics, ceramic brakes, adaptive sports seats Plus, a leather interior and a BOSE Surround Sound System as standard on its international model page. Local-market equipment and the specification of an individual car still need confirmation.

Porsche positions the Turbo S for daily use and long-distance travel as well as track use. In its September 7, 2025 release, Vice President of the 911 and 718 model lines Frank Moser called it “the most complete and versatile way to drive a Porsche 911.” That is an executive statement of the manufacturer’s positioning, not a third-party assessment of comfort or versatility.

The same release presents the car as combining “outstanding performance with a high degree of exclusivity, long-distance comfort, and everyday usability.” That wording is useful for understanding Porsche’s intended role for the Turbo S, but buyers should treat it as marketing and product positioning. It does not answer whether the ride, seat shape, visibility, noise level or luggage arrangement will work for a particular person. Confirm the actual car’s equipment and test it in conditions that resemble your normal use.

On a test drive, pay attention to mundane details as well as pace: whether you can get comfortable, see out adequately, park confidently, and live with the cabin over a long stretch. If you expect to carry passengers or bags, check their space directly. The cited specifications contain no practical luggage measurements, so do not decide from a general label such as “GT” or from the performance table alone.

Consider the Carrera GTS if you want a less expensive 911

The Carrera GTS preserves the 911 family connection while lowering the US listed starting price by $89,300 relative to the 2027 Turbo S. It has rear-wheel drive rather than all-wheel drive and Porsche lists lower power, a 2.9-second 0–60 mph time with Sport Chrono Package, and a 194 mph top speed. If you do not need the Turbo S’s specification and price point, the GTS is a documented alternative worth driving before you decide.

It is not simply a cheaper Turbo S: the published comparison identifies differences in power, drive layout and price. Ask yourself what you will actually use. If all-wheel drive and the Turbo S’s higher stated performance are central to the reason you are shopping, the GTS may not be a substitute for your priorities. If your main aim is a 911 and you do not require the Turbo S’s full specification, the GTS deserves a direct comparison. The sources do not provide a test proving that one is more enjoyable or more suitable for every road and driver.

Use a back-to-back drive if possible, with the same route and similar conditions. Then consider whether the additional performance claims and AWD configuration change your experience enough to justify the price difference in your own budget. Do not assume that the gap in starting prices will remain exactly $89,300 once options and local charges are added; the published comparison is a starting-price reference, not a quote for two equally equipped cars.

Look closely at the Bentley if cabin presentation leads your priorities

Bentley’s Continental GT S is a relevant alternative if you are drawn to a luxury-GT presentation and cabin customization. Bentley’s page highlights cabin choices such as veneer and an optional panoramic glass roof, alongside the hybrid powertrain figures. Those options do not prove that it is more comfortable or refined than the Porsche; assess materials, seat fit, ride and noise in the specific cars you can buy.

The Bentley may be worth investigating if personalization and the cabin experience are high on your list. The cited page offers examples of choices, not a complete comparison of standard equipment, option pricing or configured totals against Porsche. Ask which interior features are included on the specific car, what is optional, and how those selections affect the delivered price. A display car’s trim and options may not represent the model’s base specification.

Its published 671 BHP combined system power, 686 lb-ft combined torque, 3.3-second 0–60 mph time and 191 mph maximum track speed show that the GT S is also a high-performance option. But comparing those numbers with Porsche’s does not settle a question about comfort, luxury, reliability or value. Choose based on your own examination of the cars and on better evidence for any ownership claim that matters to you.

A practical way to compare the cars before buying

  1. Fix the market and model year. Compare vehicles offered in your region, and record the exact model year and trim. In the figures above, Porsche’s US comparison is for 2027, while its dated September 2025 release discusses the 2026 Turbo S. Confirm that the dealer’s car and the page you are using refer to the same version; do not assume that a current international page and a US price comparison describe identical regional specifications.
  2. Build comparable configurations. Add the options and equipment you would actually choose, then compare configured totals rather than a base price against a heavily optioned car. Confirm taxes, delivery charges, availability and dealer pricing locally. Request written, itemized quotes and verify whether a listed feature is standard or optional in your market. Porsche’s pages give starting prices but no Bentley US price or final dealer quote.
  3. Compare like-for-like performance claims. Match units, model year, market, option conditions and measurement labels. Porsche’s acceleration figures above specify Sport Chrono Package; Bentley labels its maximum speed “Max Track Speed.” Manufacturer specifications are not a substitute for an independent comparative test. Keep the international Porsche values in PS, km/h and l/100 km separate from the US page’s hp, mph and dollar prices.
  4. Understand the powertrain you are choosing. Note the published architecture, transmission and drive layout rather than relying only on the word hybrid. The Turbo S is described with a rear-mounted 3.6-litre flat engine, electric turbochargers, an electric motor integrated into the PDK and AWD. Bentley lists a V8-based High Performance hybrid system and 25.9-kWh battery. Confirm any questions about charging, operating modes or efficiency with current local information; the cited facts do not resolve those details.
  5. Drive each candidate on roads you use. Check whether you can settle into the seat, see clearly, place the car confidently and tolerate the ride and noise over a realistic drive. If possible, include highway and slower urban conditions rather than judging from a brief trip. Treat the manufacturers’ comfort and everyday-use positioning as a reason to test the car, not proof that it will suit you.
  6. Test the actual touring routine. Bring the people and luggage you expect to carry, and assess passenger space, luggage access and visibility directly. The cited specifications do not establish practical luggage measurements or settle which car works best for a particular household. Check entry and exit, storage access and whether the seating works for your passengers rather than assuming that the GT category guarantees a fit.
  7. Get local ownership figures before committing. Ask for insurance and servicing quotes, tire costs, warranty terms and local dealer support. Consider fuel or charging patterns and depreciation using evidence relevant to your market and intended mileage; the specifications here do not establish comparative running costs or reliability. A manufacturer performance sheet cannot substitute for a service estimate or an insurer’s quote.
  8. Decide what evidence would change your mind. If ride comfort is decisive, seek a test drive or independent road test that addresses ride. If ownership cost is decisive, compare quotes and locally relevant records rather than inferring it from purchase price or battery size. If you need a direct performance ranking, look for a same-generation, same-condition independent comparison instead of treating specifications published by different manufacturers as a controlled test.

Everyday ownership: what to verify, not guess

The cited sources do not establish comparative servicing costs, insurance premiums, tire expenses, warranty coverage, depreciation or reliability. Those are still essential decision factors, particularly when comparing expensive cars, but a factual article should not turn the absence of data into an unsupported claim that one is cheaper or more dependable.

Before placing an order, request service and warranty information from a dealer in your area and obtain insurance quotes for the exact trims. Ask about local servicing access and whether your intended usage raises questions you should resolve with the dealer or insurer. For fuel and charging, verify what the specific local-market vehicle requires and consider your normal access and routine; do not convert Porsche’s international model-range consumption into a US estimate, or assume battery capacity alone predicts your charging experience.

For resale and depreciation, seek evidence that matches the model year, market and ownership period you are considering. No third-party survey, reliability statistic or depreciation comparison was established in the sources used here. Without that evidence, the sound conclusion is not that costs are equal, but that the buyer needs local, comparable information before choosing on total cost.

What the published figures cannot decide

The manufacturer pages establish specifications, stated equipment and some market-specific starting prices. They do not provide an independent head-to-head road test, verified real-world fuel consumption, comparative reliability data, servicing costs, practical luggage measurements or a settled answer on depreciation. No conclusion about which car rides better, lasts longer or costs less to own follows from the figures alone.

For a confident decision, combine the published specifications with local dealer quotes and direct evaluation of the specific cars. If you are also considering a Mercedes-AMG GT or Aston Martin DB12, obtain current, market-specific official specifications and independent comparative coverage before relying on numbers; no comparable current figures are established here.

The comparison is strongest when the evidence is kept in its proper lane: manufacturer specifications show what each company claims for a defined model and market; a local quote establishes an actual configuration price; a test drive helps you judge fit and feel; and independent ownership evidence is needed for claims about running costs, reliability or resale. If one of those questions matters most to your decision, make it a separate item to verify rather than allowing a headline speed or a brand reputation to stand in for the answer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Porsche 911 Turbo S worth the price?

That depends on whether its all-wheel-drive 911 package and higher listed performance are worth the premium to you. Porsche’s US comparison lists the 2027 Turbo S at $272,650 and the Carrera GTS at $183,350, a starting-price difference of $89,300. Those are not configured transaction prices, and the specifications do not prove which car is the better value. Compare equivalent local configurations and test-drive both.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which high-performance GT is best for daily driving?

The reviewed specifications do not establish a universal daily-driving winner. Porsche positions the Turbo S for daily use and long-distance travel, while Bentley emphasizes cabin choices on the Continental GT S, but those are manufacturer descriptions rather than independent findings. Test each car for seat comfort, visibility, ride, noise, passenger needs and luggage use on routes like your own.

How do the 2027 Porsche 911 Turbo S and Carrera GTS differ?

Porsche’s US comparison lists the Turbo S at $272,650, 516 kW / 701 hp, all-wheel drive and 0–60 mph in 2.4 seconds with Sport Chrono Package. The Carrera GTS is listed at $183,350, 391 kW / 532 hp, rear-wheel drive and 2.9 seconds with Sport Chrono Package. Both use PDK according to the comparison. These are manufacturer figures and starting prices; confirm local specifications and options.

How does the Bentley Continental GT S compare with the 911 Turbo S?

The cited Bentley US page lists the GT S with a High Performance hybrid powertrain, 671 BHP combined power, 686 lb-ft combined torque, a 25.9-kWh battery, 3.3 seconds to 60 mph and 191 mph maximum track speed. Porsche lists different Turbo S figures and a different hybrid architecture. The data supports a specification comparison, but not a conclusion about which is more comfortable, refined, reliable or economical.

Are Porsche’s international performance and fuel-consumption numbers US estimates?

No. Porsche’s international page lists 523 kW / 711 PS, 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds with Sport Chrono Package, 322 km/h top speed, and combined model-range consumption of 11.7–11.5 l/100 km. The US comparison lists 516 kW / 701 hp and US customary performance figures. Keep the market-specific specifications separate; the international consumption figure is not a US estimate or a real-world guarantee.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What ownership costs should I compare before buying?

Request local quotes for insurance, servicing and tires, check warranty terms and dealer access, and research depreciation using evidence for your market and intended mileage. Also verify the fuel or charging routine for the exact car you are considering. The cited sources do not establish comparative ownership costs, real-world consumption, reliability or resale values.

The Bottom Line

Shortlist the 911 Turbo S if you want Porsche’s all-wheel-drive 911 performance package and its price fits your priorities. Drive the Carrera GTS if you want a lower-listed-price 911, and examine the Bentley Continental GT S if cabin customization and a luxury-GT presentation are especially important. Compare exact local configurations, test the cars for your real touring needs and get ownership quotes before deciding; the available manufacturer specifications alone cannot name a universal winner.
