For home charging, use the 15 A AC socket and Tata-supplied cable specified for the vehicle, with suitable electrical protections. For public fast charging, use a compatible station connector: Tata lists Type 2 for AC and BEVC-DC001 CCS2 for DC fast charging. Charging times differ by Xpres-T version, charger rating and charge window, so check the figures for your exact vehicle rather than treating one time as universal.
Charging at home
Tata’s owner’s manual specifies a 3 kW single-phase supply and a 15 A, 230 V socket; Tata’s feature page describes home charging from a 220 V, 15 A AC socket. Use the cable supplied by Tata, as the owner’s manual directs. Do not improvise with an extension or altered wiring. The manual also gives wire-size guidance based on run length and says the socket should have an MCB, proper earthing, over-voltage protection and an earth-line circuit breaker. If you are unsure whether your home supply meets those requirements, have a qualified electrician assess it before charging.
The normal charging port is on the front bumper grille. Check that the port and socket are dry before connecting; follow the instructions for your own vehicle and supplied hardware. The manual says the green indicator flashes during charging and stays on continuously when charging is complete.
Start and finish a home session
- Check that the home socket, vehicle port and cable are dry and undamaged. Confirm that the socket and its electrical protections meet the manual’s requirements.
- Use the Tata-supplied cable and connect it as directed in the manual for your vehicle. The normal charging port is on the front bumper grille.
- Watch the vehicle’s green indicator: it flashes while charging and remains continuously lit when charging is complete, according to the manual.
- To disconnect, switch off the power supply first. Then remove the cable from the wall socket and vehicle port, and roll and store it in its designated location.
The manual contains a note that an earlier normal-charging procedure printed in it was replaced. For flap details and any differences in hardware, use the manual and cable supplied with your specific vehicle rather than relying on an older procedure.

Charging at a public station
Tata distinguishes normal charging from fast charging: its manual says fast charging is available at fast-charging stations and cannot be done at home. The manual places the fast-charge port at the rear left; its opening lever is beside the driver’s seat.
Start and finish a public session
- Before travelling, check the exact vehicle’s inlet and the station’s connector and confirm the station is operating and accessible.
- Park so the fast-charge port at the rear left is reachable. Use the lever beside the driver’s seat to open the flap.
- Insert the station cable fully until it locks, then start the session using the station’s controls.
- When charging is complete, stop the session at the station and return the cable to its dock.
Tata’s current specifications list Type 2 for AC charging and BEVC-DC001 CCS2 for DC fast charging. Check the connector against your own vehicle and the particular station; do not assume a generic adapter is suitable or approved.

Finding a station
Tata’s Xpres-T charging-station locator lists stations by city, but Tata warns that its listings come from external sources and may not be up to date. Before setting out, confirm in the charging operator’s current app or directly with the location that it is operational, accessible and has the appropriate connector.
Published charging times, by version
Tata Motors’ current Xpres-T EV specifications page, accessed in 2026, gives the following figures. They are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

| Vehicle version listed by Tata | Normal charging | Fast charging |
|---|---|---|
| 24 kWh Xpres-T EV | 0–100% in 11 hours | 0–100% in 145 minutes using a 15 kW charger |
| IB Xpres-T EV 2.0 XM 32 | 0–100% in 12 hours | 10–70% in 30 minutes from a 50 kW DC fast charger |
These are different versions and, for fast charging, different charger ratings and charge windows. The 0–100% and 10–70% figures are not directly comparable. Tata’s manual says actual charging time varies with state of charge, ambient temperature and battery temperature, and describes listed times as estimates. Check the specification and manual for your exact vehicle before planning around a duration.

- Keep charging ports dry before inserting a cable, and keep port caps closed when not in use. Do not charge if water is in the port or socket, handle a cable with wet hands, or touch its contacts.
- Do not wash the vehicle while it is charging, or modify the charging port or cable. If unusual smoke or odour comes from the vehicle, stop charging and disconnect. If water is in the fast-charge socket, the manual directs owners to an authorized Tata service centre.
- Tata’s driving-tips page recommends, after the running-in period, one fast charge followed by one slow charge, and at least one full charge in every three consecutive cycles. These are Tata recommendations, not independent battery-health findings; check your vehicle’s manual and service guidance, particularly if its version differs.
