The 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS associated with Michael Bay and Transformers: Age of Extinction was sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction in 2016. That historic sale does not establish that the same car is for sale now. If you want the exact vehicle, first verify its current ownership and sale status; if you want a similar car, shop for a 1967 Camaro and scrutinize its provenance, modifications, and condition.
Which Bumblebee Camaro was sold?
The ’67 car is a modified 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS built for Transformers: Age of Extinction, the fourth live-action film. Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale 2016 lot record describes it as a resto-mod for that film and identifies Michael Bay as its owner in the listing’s 2016 context. The auction house records the car as sold.
This is not the clunker Bumblebee from the original 2007 film. Michael Bay’s official film page identifies that car as a 1976–77 Camaro, which later gave way to a newer Camaro form. The movie connection and model year matter when searching: a listing for a first-film Bumblebee, a later production Camaro, or a Transformers collectible is not proof that it is the Age of Extinction ’67.
Can you buy the exact 1967 Bumblebee Camaro now?
The available auction record establishes a 2016 sale, not the car’s present owner, current asking price, or current availability. It does not point to an active listing. Barrett-Jackson’s contemporaneous auction article provides additional context about the Transformers vehicles at the Scottsdale event, but it is also historical.

To pursue the exact car, use the lot number and auction record as identification references when contacting Barrett-Jackson or searching reputable collector-car auction archives. Ask any person claiming to represent the car to document current ownership and authority to sell, and compare the vehicle identification and build details against reliable records. Do not treat an old lot page, a movie-themed description, or a seller’s unsupported claim as proof of present ownership or availability.
How to find a comparable 1967 Camaro
If the exact film-associated car cannot be verified as available, search specialist collector-car auctions and listings for a 1967 Camaro SS or another first-generation Camaro. The film car is a modified resto-mod, so a comparable year and body style alone do not make another car equivalent. Evaluate each candidate on its own evidence.

- Perfect for Display & Gifting: It is an ideal collectible or gift for car model enthusiasts, hobbyists, and children ages 3 and up.
- Provenance: Request ownership history and any records supporting a claimed film, celebrity, or other notable connection. Treat such claims as unverified until documented.
- Configuration: Establish whether the car is an SS, what is original, and what has been changed. Compare the seller’s description with build documentation and available vehicle records.
- Restoration and condition: Review restoration records and inspect body, structure, paint, and interior. Have an independent specialist assess the car rather than relying only on photos or the seller’s account.
- Drivetrain and modifications: Confirm the engine, transmission, and other installed components, and ask whether modifications are documented. A resto-mod’s appeal may come with different originality and maintenance trade-offs than a more original car.
- Sale terms and evidence: Check title status, included documentation, inspection access, and the seller’s written representations before committing.
Current inventory and prices are not established here; they depend on the specific car and its seller. Compare candidates on documentation, originality or modification level, restoration quality, mechanical condition, and the evidence behind the asking price rather than assuming all 1967 Camaros are interchangeable.
