What the top estimates mean
Hamilton’s figure traces back to a UK wealth estimate
PlanetF1’s $586 million estimate for Hamilton is a conversion of £435 million, the amount it attributes to the Sunday Times Rich List 2026. The original estimate is in pounds; the dollar value depends on the conversion used. It is therefore more precise to describe Hamilton as the leader in this particular ranking than to present $586 million as a confirmed personal balance sheet.

Norris’s estimate is especially unsettled
PlanetF1 lists Norris at $60 million but says estimates range from $37 million to $80 million. That spread makes the listed figure a midpoint-like snapshot of differing claims, not a settled valuation.
Stroll’s estimate is not his father’s fortune
The $50 million entry is PlanetF1’s estimate for driver Lance Stroll. It is not an estimate of his father Lawrence Stroll’s reported wealth.

There is no single consensus dataset behind these rankings. An AthleteWiki list updated October 7, 2026, puts Hamilton at $550 million rather than $586 million, and Norris at $37 million rather than $60 million. It also estimates Alonso at $260 million, Verstappen at $210 million, Leclerc at $125 million and Stroll and Piastri at $50 million; it puts Sainz at $49 million. The differences illustrate why a published ranking should be attributed to its source rather than treated as a precise or universally agreed figure.

Net worth means the value of a person’s assets minus liabilities. It is not the same as annual salary, performance bonuses, sponsorship income or the headline value of a contract. Those figures describe earnings or compensation over a period, not accumulated wealth after debts and other obligations.
For example, RacingNews365’s 2026 salary table says its estimates were assembled from sources in the F1 paddock and exclude bonuses and personal sponsorship contracts. Forbes Australia’s reproduction of Forbes SportsMoney’s 2025 estimates presents salary and bonuses as earnings. Neither measure can be substituted for net worth.
