There is no verified, current Toyota-wide price for replacing an EV traction battery. The cost depends on the vehicle, country, diagnosis, parts needed and labor; Toyota Australia directs owners to a dealer for a vehicle-specific quote. Check warranty coverage first: in the United States, Toyota lists an 8-year/100,000-mile EV-component warranty that includes the traction battery and a capacity threshold below 70% of its original level.
What does a Toyota EV battery replacement cost?
Toyota’s available official U.S. information does not publish a universal replacement price. The amount for a particular vehicle can only be established with a diagnosis and a quote that specifies what is being replaced and what the price includes.
Toyota Australia’s servicing FAQ likewise tells bZ4X owners to contact a local Toyota dealer or authorized service center for a vehicle-specific estimate. Its accessible page does not currently list a replacement price: Toyota Australia servicing FAQs.
An Australian estimate that needs qualification
A search-index extract for that Australian FAQ displayed AUD 8,000 for one battery module and around AUD 30,000 for all modules, before labor. Those figures do not appear in the currently accessible FAQ text, so they are not a confirmed current quote. They are Australian-dollar estimates, not prices for a U.S. bZ4X or a verified pack-replacement price in another market.

Check the warranty before budgeting for a replacement
A costly repair may be covered if the vehicle meets the applicable warranty terms. Coverage is market- and vehicle-specific, so check the warranty guide for the car’s country, model and model year, along with its in-service date and mileage. A warranty claim also depends on Toyota’s diagnosis and determination under the applicable terms.
United States
Toyota’s U.S. warranty page states that EV drive components, including the traction battery, have an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty, whichever comes first. It includes protection for the traction battery if capacity falls below 70% of its original capacity. Toyota’s FAQ for the 2027 bZ repeats the 8-year/100,000-mile EV-component warranty and says the battery requires periodic inspections despite being virtually maintenance-free: Toyota bZ FAQ.
Australia
Toyota Australia describes bZ4X traction-battery capacity coverage for up to 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first, if capacity falls below 70% and required health checks and owner-manual requirements are met. Its warranty terms also allow Toyota to determine whether repair, replacement or a reconditioned or remanufactured part is appropriate. Toyota Japan describes free repair for BEV battery faults for up to 10 years or 200,000 km and free replacement if charge capacity falls below 70%, while noting that coverage varies by vehicle. How to get a useful, comparable quote
- Check coverage first. Find the vehicle’s original market, model year, in-service date, mileage and warranty guide. Ask a Toyota dealer whether the concern may qualify under the traction-battery warranty.
- Request a diagnostic assessment. A range estimate on the dashboard is not, by itself, a battery-capacity diagnosis. Toyota Australia notes that estimated range is affected by factors beyond battery capacity. Ask what test or finding supports the diagnosis.
- Ask what work is proposed. Have the dealer distinguish a module repair or replacement from replacement of the complete pack, and identify whether the proposed part is new, reconditioned or remanufactured.
- Get the price in writing. Ask for separate parts and labor costs, the currency, taxes or other charges, the repair scope, and any warranty on the replacement part and labor. Toyota Australia specifically recommends a dealer or authorized service center for an estimate based on the vehicle’s details.
Why one quoted figure may not compare with another
- Scope: a price for one module is not the cost of replacing all modules or the complete battery pack.
- Labor: parts-only figures exclude installation and may not represent the final customer-pay total.
- Market and currency: warranty rules and service pricing differ between countries; do not convert an unverified Australian estimate into a U.S. price.
- Part condition: new, reconditioned and remanufactured options may have different prices and warranty terms, if available for the vehicle.
- Warranty decision: a customer-pay quote and a repair approved under warranty are different outcomes. A capacity concern alone does not establish that a claim will be covered.
