Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) displayed two distinct builds at the 2025 SEMA Show in Las Vegas: a Passport TrailSport HRC Concept based on the 2026 Passport, and the Civic Type R HRC Rally XP, a street-legal rally demonstration car aimed at the American Rally Association’s 2WD class. That distinction matters for owners: the vehicle was explicitly presented as a concept, and the cited coverage does not establish that its parts are standard Passport equipment or available to purchase. Civic Type R HRC Rally XP: a street-legal rally demonstration car
HRC described the Rally XP as a street-legal demonstration build intended for the American Rally Association’s 2WD class. Development drew on HRC’s touring-car experience and lessons from the HART Acura Integra rally car, and involved rally specialist Rally Ready. HRC also said the car followed off-road durability testing in Texas with Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson.

The announced equipment mixes racing-catalog components with prototype hardware and rally-specific changes. HRC identified:

How the Rally XP relates to the production Civic Type R
Honda’s 2026 Civic Type R specifications list the production model’s turbocharged 1,996 cc inline-four at 315 hp and 310 lb-ft, with a six-speed manual transmission and helical limited-slip differential. Those are production-model specifications, not a separately reported Rally XP output or test result. The available announcement does not confirm that every production specification carries over unchanged to the modified rally build.

How the two HRC builds differ
The builds serve different purposes, and the cited sources provide no directly comparable timed or measured performance results. The Passport concept explores capability and utility for an off-road-oriented SUV; the Rally XP is a competition-focused 2WD rally demonstration car with safety, suspension and protection changes alongside prototype controls and components. Their SEMA display is best read as two different expressions of HRC’s engineering work, not as a head-to-head performance comparison.
