The Civic MUGEN RR is the most powerful sourced Mugen production complete car in this comparison, rated at 240 PS. The Civic Dominator’s higher 300-horsepower figure belongs to a concept, not a customer-production model. The ranking below separates production cars, a U.S.-market trim, pre-production powertrain figures and concepts so their outputs are not mistaken for equivalent specifications.
How the power ranking works
This is a ranking of Mugen-associated Honda models with official output figures, not a like-for-like test. It includes concepts because they help explain the highest numbers often associated with Mugen, but identifies them separately from production cars. The figures also use different conventions: PS and SAE net horsepower are not interchangeable labels, and hybrid engine and motor ratings must not be added unless a combined system output is stated.
Within the production complete cars and trim below, the Civic MUGEN RR has the highest clearly stated single engine-output figure: 240 PS. Concepts sit in a separate category rather than displacing that production-car result.
Production cars and U.S.-market trim
1. Civic MUGEN RR — 240 PS
Mugen’s 2007 Civic MUGEN RR was a limited-run complete car based on the Civic Type R, not simply a parts package. Mugen announced a domestic run of 300 cars. Its official specification lists a 1,998 cc K20A engine producing 240 PS at 8,000 rpm (177 kW), with 218 N·m at 7,000 rpm and a listed vehicle weight of 1,255 kg. These are the reference figures on Mugen’s official RR specifications page.
#1 Best Overall
- SOLIDO BRAND QUALITY: Solido is known for producing high-quality diecast model cars with exceptional detail, durable construction, and accurate representations of real vehicles. Each model is crafted with precision and built to last.
- HONDA OFFICIALLY LICENSED MODEL: This Honda Civic (EG6) replica is produced as an officially licensed Honda model, allowing Solido to reproduce the distinctive design and trademarks of the compact performance hatchback. The EG6 generation Civic became widely recognized in the early 1990s for its lightweight design and connection to tuning culture. This version features a Solido Works Mugen Racing inspired presentation, reflecting a motorsport-influenced styling theme.
- FEATURES & DETAILS: This 1:18 scale Honda Civic (EG6) model measures approximately 8 inches in length and recreates the proportions of the compact hatchback introduced in the early 1990s. The model features opening front doors that allow a view of interior elements including seating and dashboard details. It is finished in a white Solido Works Mugen Racing themed design representing a performance-inspired presentation. The model is designed for display.
- TOP QUALITY MATERIALS: The model is produced using a diecast metal body combined with precisely molded plastic components for interior parts, wheels, and exterior details. The paint finish and graphic elements highlight the Mugen Racing inspired styling. Exterior body lines, wheel design, and interior elements are reproduced to reflect the design characteristics of the Honda Civic EG6.
- COLLECTIBLE DISPLAY ITEM: Designed for collectors aged 14 and above, this Honda Civic (EG6) Solido Works model is intended as a collectible display item rather than a toy. Its recognizable 1990s hatchback design and motorsport-inspired styling make it a notable addition to automotive collections. This 1:18 scale replica also makes a thoughtful gift for Honda enthusiasts and collectors of JDM performance vehicles.
Mugen said its engine changes added 15 PS at peak, describing revisions to the cam profile, intake and exhaust manifold, plus a dual exhaust. That increase is Mugen’s stated comparison with the base vehicle, not a separate independent test figure. The 240 PS rating is the best-supported production complete-car benchmark in this group. Mugen’s 2007 announcement describes the RR as a complete-car project and gives the 300-unit production limit.
2. Civic MUGEN Si Sedan — 197 SAE net hp
The 2008 U.S.-market Civic MUGEN Si Sedan is listed at 197 SAE net horsepower at 7,800 rpm. American Honda’s specification table gives the standard Civic Si the same horsepower rating, so the Mugen trim does not have a documented peak-power increase over that model. Its distinction is in the package—among the cited differences are Mugen-tuned suspension and exhaust and forged wheels—not a higher listed engine output. See American Honda’s 2008 specifications.
Rank #2
- 2024 Honda Civic Type R - 5472D Kinsmart Model Vehicle
- 1/36 Scale Collectible Model Compact Sports Car
- This is a 5"L x 2"W x 1.5"H Diecast Metal model with some plastic parts
- Openable Doors And Pull Back Action
- 1 car, no box
This figure is SAE net horsepower for the U.S. specification. It should not be treated as directly equivalent to the PS figures elsewhere in this article without accounting for the different unit and rating convention.
3. CR-Z MUGEN RZ — 156 PS engine; 20 PS IMA motor
The Japan-limited CR-Z MUGEN RZ was a complete car with a supercharged 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine. Mugen lists the engine at 156 PS and the IMA electric motor separately at 20 PS. Mugen does not state a combined system-output figure on the cited announcement and specifications, so the component ratings should not be added into a claimed 176 PS total. The figures and market context are on Mugen’s RZ announcement.

Concepts and pre-production models: higher figures, different status
The following models are not customer-production complete cars. Their figures are useful context, but they do not change which production car leads the ranking.
Civic Dominator concept — 300 horsepower
Mugen’s Civic Dominator description gives the concept an output of 300 horsepower. It is a concept figure, not a production specification, and the description does not establish a customer-production model. It is therefore the highest sourced headline figure here, but not the answer to which production Mugen complete car has the most power. Mugen’s Dominator description identifies the concept.
CR-Z MUGEN performance concept — 200 PS
Mugen announced a 200 PS CR-Z MUGEN performance concept in 2011. This is a concept output claim, not a production rating. It is distinct from the CR-Z RR design-study concept: Mugen explicitly categorized its two CR-Z concepts under different themes, “Design Study Model” and “Performance Concept Model.” See Mugen’s 2011 announcement.
CR-Z MUGEN RR pre-production model — 179 PS engine; 14 PS motor
Mugen’s pre-production CR-Z MUGEN RR announcement lists a 179 PS engine and a 14 PS electric motor separately. It is not a customer-production rating, and the figures are not a stated combined output. Keep this model separate from both the production RZ and the 200 PS performance concept. Mugen’s figures appear in its pre-production announcement.

What the figures do—and do not—show
Power output alone does not establish which car is quicker, faster around a circuit or better overall. The models differ in status, market, powertrain and rating convention. In particular, a concept’s advertised output is not evidence of a production car’s specification, and separately listed hybrid engine and motor peaks are not a combined system rating. For a production complete-car comparison based on these official figures, the Civic MUGEN RR is the clear leader at 240 PS.
