Honda Brazil’s XR300L Tornado is not the same model as its XRE300 Sahara Rally; Honda’s US and South African sources instead identify a CRF300L Rally. The specifications below keep those models and markets separate, so you can identify the right bike before comparing dimensions.
Honda XR300L and Rally specifications at a glance
These are manufacturer-published figures for the named market and model. They are not a like-for-like global comparison: notably, the weight labels use different measurement bases.

| Official model and market | Seat height | Published weight | Ground clearance |
|---|---|---|---|
| XR300L Tornado, Brazil | 890 mm | 143 kg dry | 268 mm |
| XRE300 Sahara Standard or Rally, Brazil | 859 mm | 147 kg dry | 269 mm |
| XRE300 Sahara Adventure, Brazil | 859 mm | 149 kg dry | 269 mm |
| CRF300L Rally, United States, 2026 | 35.2 in (about 894 mm) | 333 lb curb (about 151 kg) | 10.9 in (about 277 mm) |
| CRF300 Rally, South Africa, 2026 provisional | 885 mm | 153 kg kerb | 275 mm |
Honda’s US specifications are preliminary and subject to change. Honda South Africa likewise labels its 2026 figures provisional. The Brazilian Sahara figures are for a different model family, even where the trim name includes “Rally.” Honda Brazil’s XR300L Tornado page, Honda Brazil’s XRE300 Sahara page, American Honda’s 2026 CRF300L Rally page and Honda South Africa’s 2026 specification sheet publish the figures shown.
For a quick reading of the table, Brazil’s Tornado is listed with a 890 mm seat, while the two Brazil-market Sahara trims are 859 mm. The US CRF300L Rally is listed at 35.2 inches, about 894 mm, and the South African CRF300 Rally at 885 mm. These are useful reference points for identifying the listed version, not proof that the motorcycles will feel the same to ride. The values come from different markets and, in some cases, different model families.

What “XR300 Rally” means in Honda’s model names
There is no single, unambiguous official model called “XR300 Rally” across the Honda sources cited here. The wording may be shorthand used by a shopper, seller or search query, but it should not be treated as proof that two motorcycles share a platform or specification.
Brazil: XR300L Tornado versus XRE300 Sahara Rally
Honda Brazil lists the XR300L Tornado as its own model. Separately, it sells the XRE300 Sahara, with Standard, Rally and Adventure trims. “Sahara Rally” is therefore a trim designation within the Sahara range, not another name for the XR300L Tornado. Compare the exact model name on the Brazilian product page or vehicle documents rather than relying on “XR300 Rally” alone.
The Sahara figures also show why a trim label matters. Honda Brazil lists the Sahara Standard and Rally at 147 kg dry, while the Adventure is 149 kg dry; all three listed trims share an 859 mm seat height and 269 mm of clearance. Those values are not XR300L Tornado figures, even though the Sahara Rally name may look similar in a search result.

United States and South Africa: CRF300L Rally
Honda’s US page calls its 2026 model the CRF300L Rally; Honda South Africa’s provisional specification sheet calls its model the CRF300 Rally. Those market-specific names point to the Rally model in the CRF300L family, not to Brazil’s XR300L Tornado or XRE300 Sahara Rally. A seller’s shortened description can obscure this distinction, so confirm the country, model year and full badge before applying a specification.
How to interpret seat height, clearance and weight
Seat height describes the seat, not how easily every rider can reach the ground
Seat height is the published vertical dimension of the seat. It is a useful first check when considering rider reach, but it does not tell you exactly how a particular rider will plant their feet. The figure alone does not describe seat width, the rider’s inseam, riding boots, suspension movement under load or the surface under the tires. For a fit decision, use the specification to narrow your options, then sit on the exact model if possible. A lower number is not a guarantee that a bike will feel easier to manage for every rider.
That distinction is especially useful when looking at the Tornado and Sahara: the Tornado’s listed seat height is 31 mm above the Sahara’s, but those figures alone cannot tell you how either seat will fit a particular rider. Honda’s published dimensions do not provide an individual rider-fit result. If reach is a deciding factor, try the exact market version and trim rather than assuming that the lowest published number automatically makes a model the best fit.

Ground clearance is the space below the motorcycle
Ground clearance measures the minimum gap beneath the motorcycle, rather than the height of its seat. It matters when considering obstacles and uneven ground, but it should not be used as a substitute for seat height. The two figures answer different questions: one concerns the bike’s underside; the other helps describe where the rider sits. Neither number alone describes all aspects of off-road geometry or the motorcycle’s behavior over a particular obstacle.

For example, the Sahara’s listed 269 mm clearance is close to the Tornado’s 268 mm, despite the 31 mm difference between their seat heights. The South African CRF300L Rally is listed at 275 mm clearance and 885 mm seat height; its standard CRF300L counterpart is listed at 285 mm clearance and 880 mm seat height. A higher seat does not necessarily mean more clearance, so check each measurement separately.
Dry, curb and kerb weights are not interchangeable
Honda Brazil labels the Tornado and Sahara weights in the table as dry. The US Rally’s curb figure includes standard equipment, required fluids and a full fuel tank. Honda South Africa uses the term kerb weight for its listed figure. Because the labels do not describe the same measurement basis, subtracting one published number from another does not establish how much heavier one motorcycle will be in comparable ready-to-ride condition. No manufacturer-supported conversion is provided here, so the figures should remain labeled as published rather than being converted into a supposed like-for-like ranking.
In particular, the Tornado’s 143 kg dry figure should not be compared directly with the US Rally’s 333 lb curb figure (about 151 kg) to claim an eight-kilogram real-world difference. The figures do not share a stated basis: Honda defines the US curb weight as including standard equipment, required fluids and a full fuel tank, while the Brazil figure is dry. The South African Rally’s 153 kg kerb listing is yet another market’s published measure.
XR300L Tornado: engine and chassis details for Brazil
Honda Brazil lists a 293.5 cc air-cooled engine for the XR300L Tornado. Its published output differs by fuel: 24.3 cv on gasoline and 24.8 cv on ethanol, with torque listed as 2.70 kgf·m on gasoline or 2.74 kgf·m on ethanol. Those are fuel-specific manufacturer figures, not two outputs that should be combined or attributed to every market version.

Suspension travel is published as 245 mm at the front and 227 mm at the rear. Those travel measurements add context to the clearance figure: suspension travel describes how far the suspension can move, while clearance describes a minimum space under the motorcycle. Neither should be substituted for the other when checking a specification sheet.

For an XR300L Tornado specification check, keep the figures together as a Brazil-market package: 293.5 cc air-cooled engine, six-speed transmission, 13.8 L tank, 245 mm front travel, 227 mm rear travel, 890 mm seat height, 143 kg dry weight and 268 mm minimum clearance. Honda’s separate gasoline and ethanol outputs apply to that listing; do not carry them over to the CRF300L Rally just because the names share the number 300.
These details belong to the Brazil-market XR300L Tornado. They should not be carried over to a CRF300L Rally merely because both names include “300” or because a listing describes a motorcycle as a rally model. Honda’s regional pages identify different engines and capacities for the relevant bikes.
CRF300L Rally: what differs between the US and South African listings
American Honda describes its 2026 CRF300L Rally as having a 286 cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual transmission and ABS. Its fuel capacity is 3.4 US gallons. Honda says the Rally fairing and windscreen provide additional wind and weather protection. These are US-market product details; they are not specifications for the Brazilian Tornado.
Honda South Africa’s provisional 2026 sheet provides a same-market comparison between the standard CRF300L and the Rally. The standard model is listed with a 7.8 L tank, while the Rally is listed with a 12.8 L tank. The sheet also gives the standard CRF300L a different seat height, kerb weight and ground clearance from the Rally, as shown in the specification table above. This is a useful comparison within that South African lineup, but its figures should not replace the US model’s published data.
More specifically, the South African standard CRF300L is listed at 880 mm seat height, 142 kg claimed kerb weight and 285 mm clearance; the Rally is listed at 885 mm, 153 kg kerb weight and 275 mm clearance. In that provisional same-market sheet, the Rally has a 5 mm higher seat, 11 kg greater listed kerb weight and 10 mm less clearance than the standard model. These are comparisons within that sheet only; they do not establish the same differences for US models or Brazil-market motorcycles.
The US Rally has a 3.4 US gallon tank, while Honda South Africa lists 12.8 L for its Rally. Do not treat these as conflicting measurements of one globally identical specification: one is a US-market product page, the other a provisional South African sheet. Likewise, Honda’s US engine, ABS and fairing details should be attached to the US CRF300L Rally listing, not assumed for the XR300L Tornado.

- Made from high-quality materials, it is durable and resistant to deformation.
- Flexible and easy to use.
- Stable , reliability.
The US and South African Rally figures should also not be silently merged. Their listed dimensions and weight differ, and South Africa explicitly marks its sheet provisional. Use the figure tied to the market and model year of the motorcycle you are evaluating; the sources do not establish that one market’s specification supersedes the other’s.
Which figures should you use when comparing bikes?
If you are checking rider reach
Start with the seat-height value for the exact model and market, then treat it as a screening dimension rather than a fit guarantee. If the decision is close, a physical sit test on the correct trim is more informative than comparing a Tornado number against a Rally name from another country. Also keep in mind that the Brazilian Sahara trim and the Tornado are separate models despite sharing a broad adventure or trail context.
If you are checking clearance for rough ground
Use ground clearance for the exact motorcycle you intend to buy, and do not infer it from seat height or suspension travel. The table’s values are manufacturer specifications, not a promise that the motorcycle can clear every obstacle: the relevant underside point, load, tires and terrain can affect a real-world encounter, and the cited material does not quantify those conditions.
If you are comparing weight
First find out whether both figures are dry, curb or kerb and whether they refer to the same regional version. The figures in the table make the model distinctions clear, but the Brazilian dry figures cannot be compared directly with US curb or South African kerb figures to claim a weight advantage. A valid like-for-like comparison requires matching the measurement convention and model context.
If a listing only says “XR300 Rally”
- Ask for the full official model name, not just “XR300” or “Rally.”
- Confirm the sales market and model year; regional specification pages are not interchangeable.
- Check whether “Rally” is a trim of the XRE300 Sahara or part of the CRF300L Rally model name.
- Match the exact product page or manufacturer document to the bike’s identification and the figures you want to verify.
This avoids applying an engine, weight or dimension from a similarly named motorcycle to the wrong one. If you are evaluating a used bike, use its full model designation and market documentation rather than relying only on the seller’s headline or a search-result label.
Brazil price and availability context
Honda Brazil’s product page shows a suggested public price of R$31,700 for the XR300L Tornado, excluding freight, and says the price table is effective July 23, 2026. Honda Brazil’s 2027 model release says the motorcycle would be available through Honda dealerships from August 2026. Those are Brazil-specific details, not a global price or guarantee of current inventory; check with a local Honda dealership for the applicable price and availability. Honda Brazil’s 2027 release provides the model-year and availability context.

Honda’s stated place for the Tornado
In its 2025 launch release, Honda Brazil described the model’s role this way: “A Honda XR 300L Tornado preencherá uma importante lacuna no mercado brasileiro de motocicletas, que no arco de duas décadas desde o lançamento da Tornado pioneira, evoluiu em termos de oferta de modelos e segmentação.” In English: “The Honda XR 300L Tornado will fill an important gap in the Brazilian motorcycle market, which over the two decades since the launch of the pioneering Tornado has evolved in terms of model offering and segmentation.” This is Honda Brazil’s statement in its release, rather than a quote attributed to an individual.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Honda XR300L Tornado seat height?
Honda Brazil lists the XR300L Tornado at 890 mm. That is a Brazil-market specification and should not be applied to a CRF300L Rally or XRE300 Sahara.
