2026 Honda Rebel prices: what you will actually pay
The 2026 Rebel 300 E-Clutch has a $5,349 base MSRP and a listed $600 destination charge. Adding only those two advertised amounts produces $5,949, but that is not an out-the-door price.
The standard 2026 Rebel 500 lists for $6,799 plus $600 destination, or $7,399 before taxes and other transaction costs. The Rebel 500 SE lists for $6,999 plus $600 destination, or $7,599 before those additional costs.
- The standard Rebel 500 costs $1,450 more than the Rebel 300 before destination.
- The Rebel 500 SE costs $1,650 more than the Rebel 300 before destination.
- The SE costs $200 more than the standard Rebel 500 before destination.
Honda’s pricing notes exclude tax, licensing, registration, destination, and dealer-installed options, and Honda states that dealer prices may vary. Freight or preparation may also be presented differently by the dealer. Ask for a written out-the-door quote rather than comparing advertised MSRP alone.
Honda pages may also show 2025 Rebel 500 listings, including a $6,499 base MSRP for the 2025 standard model. That is an older model-year price and should not replace the current 2026 figure when comparing new motorcycles.

Honda describes the single as compact, counterbalanced, fuel-injected, and tuned toward usable torque for the lightweight platform. The 300’s defining equipment change for 2026 is Honda E-Clutch. In normal use, the system allows the rider to shift without operating the handlebar-mounted clutch lever, while still retaining the option to use the clutch manually. Honda also describes clutchless full-throttle gear changes. Those are Honda’s system descriptions, not independent acceleration or performance-test results.
Rebel 500
The Rebel 500 uses a 471cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke parallel-twin engine with programmed fuel injection, 34mm throttle bodies, double-overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, and the same 10.7:1 compression ratio. It has a six-speed manual transmission with a slipper clutch and a 15-tooth front, 40-tooth rear, O-ring-sealed chain drive.
The larger twin gives the 500 a clear performance advantage in engine size and provides more reserve for hills, faster roads, a passenger, or additional luggage. The 500 is also 35 pounds heavier than the 300, so it is not simply a faster version with no trade-off.
Honda’s current U.S. pages do not publish horsepower or peak-torque figures for either 2026 model. They also do not establish official top-speed, acceleration, fuel-economy, or highway-comfort claims. Avoid treating internet estimates or numbers from another market or model year as 2026 U.S. factory specifications.
Handling, brakes, and dimensions
Both motorcycles use a 41mm front fork with 5.5 inches of travel and twin rear shocks with 3.7 inches of travel. Each has a 296mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. The major brake-equipment difference is ABS: it is standard on the 2026 Rebel 500, while Honda’s current U.S. Rebel 300 specification page lists the disc brakes but does not list ABS.

Because the seat height and principal chassis dimensions are the same, inseam accessibility is not the main reason to choose one over the other. A shorter or newer rider may notice the 300’s 35-pound weight advantage when backing into a parking space, making a tight turn, or recovering from a slow-speed mistake. The 500’s extra mass is still modest by broader motorcycle standards, but it matters during handling at walking speed.
Which Rebel is better for your type of riding?
Choose the Rebel 300 E-Clutch for approachable city riding
The 300 is the logical choice when the priorities are the lowest purchase price, lower weight, low seat height, and reduced clutch workload. Its single-cylinder engine and E-Clutch system suit urban commuting, short trips, parking-lot practice, and riders who want to concentrate on steering, braking, and traffic awareness instead of managing the clutch lever at every stop.
Its limitations are equally important. It has less engine displacement, 35 fewer pounds of claimed curb weight, and no ABS listed on Honda’s current U.S. specification page. Riders who regularly use high-speed roads, carry a passenger, climb steep grades, or want substantial passing reserve should test-ride the 300 in those conditions before committing.
Choose the Rebel 500 for broader capability
The 500 is the better all-around choice for a rider who expects sustained faster-road use, hills, passenger duty, or luggage. Its 471cc parallel twin and standard ABS justify much of the $1,450 jump over the 300. The six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch preserve conventional clutch control while adding equipment aimed at more experienced or more demanding use.
The 500 does not have a taller seat than the 300, but it does have more mass. A beginner can learn on it, especially with proper instruction and practice, yet the 300 remains the easier motorcycle to move around by hand and manage at very low speeds.
Choose the Rebel 500 SE for appearance, not extra engine performance
The Rebel 500 SE retains the 500 family’s engine and principal chassis specification. Its reason to exist is special-edition styling and treatment, not a published horsepower increase or a different engine class. At $200 over the standard Rebel 500 before destination, the SE makes sense when its appearance and included SE details matter to you. Otherwise, the standard 500 leaves more room in the budget for riding gear, registration, or carefully selected accessories.

Comfort, equipment, and customization
Honda positions the Rebel range as low-seat, blacked-out cruisers with wide tires, cast wheels, LED lighting, and a customization-friendly design. The low seat can make it easier to place both feet near the ground, although seat width, riding position, and your inseam still affect real-world comfort.

Honda’s official 2026 model pages are the best source for current photo galleries. The Rebel 300 gallery includes profile and detail views of the E-Clutch system, low-seat presentation, disc brakes, and luggage or passenger-accessory examples. It lists Matte Black Metallic and Pearl Smoky Gray.

- Confirm the model year. Make sure the quote is for a 2026 Rebel 300 E-Clutch, Rebel 500, or Rebel 500 SE rather than remaining 2025 inventory.
- Request the full price in writing. Separate base MSRP and the $600 destination charge from tax, title, registration, preparation, freight treatment, documentation fees, accessories, and financing costs.
- Check ABS equipment. The 2026 500 has standard ABS. Honda’s current U.S. 300 page does not list ABS; do not infer that the 300 has it because the 500 does.
- Sit on both motorcycles. The seat height is identical on paper, but compare reach to the bars, foot controls, seat width, and your ability to move the bike backward.
- Plan for the intended load. If you expect a passenger or regular luggage, compare the 500’s larger engine with the cost and fitment of the required passenger and luggage accessories.
- Price protective equipment separately. A helmet, gloves, boots, and protective riding clothing are part of the real beginner budget, not standard Rebel equipment.
- Verify accessory fitment by year. Confirm brackets, clearance, and compatibility with the 300 E-Clutch or the exact 500 trim before ordering aftermarket parts.
Verdict
Buy the 2026 Honda Rebel 300 E-Clutch if low cost, low weight, easy slow-speed control, and reduced clutch work matter most—and if the absence of listed ABS is acceptable for your riding priorities.

How much does the 2026 Honda Rebel 500 cost?
The standard 2026 Rebel 500 starts at $6,799 plus a $600 destination charge. The Rebel 500 SE starts at $6,999 plus the same destination charge. Neither figure is an out-the-door price.

Yes. Honda’s current U.S. specification information lists ABS as standard on the 2026 Rebel 500. The current U.S. Rebel 300 specification page lists disc brakes but does not list ABS, so buyers should not assume the 300 has it.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Is the Rebel 300 lighter or shorter than the Rebel 500?
The 300 is 379 pounds claimed curb weight, while the 500 is 414 pounds. Both have a claimed 27.2-inch seat height, so the 300’s main ergonomic advantage is its lower weight rather than a lower seat.
How much horsepower does the 2026 Honda Rebel 500 make?
Honda’s current U.S. pages do not publish horsepower or peak torque for the 2026 models. The 500 is the more powerful model by virtue of its larger 471cc parallel-twin engine, but an exact factory horsepower number should not be assigned without a separately verified source.
What is Honda E-Clutch on the Rebel 300?
The Rebel 300 E-Clutch lets the rider shift without operating the handlebar-mounted clutch in normal use while retaining manual clutch control. Honda also describes clutchless full-throttle shifts. It is still a six-speed manual transmission.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Rebel 300 E-Clutch is the lighter, cheaper, easier-to-manage option. The Rebel 500 costs more and weighs more, but its 471cc parallel twin and standard ABS make it the better long-term all-rounder for faster roads, hills, passengers, and luggage. The 500 SE is primarily a styling upgrade over the standard 500.
