The Honda CB300R has commuter-friendly credentials, but there is no published U.S. MPG figure on Honda’s current 2026 model page. The official number Honda does publish is 30.2 km/L in WMTC mode for the 2022 European-market CB300R. That is a standardized result for a different market and model year—not a U.S. EPA rating or a promise of what you will get in everyday traffic.
What is the Honda CB300R’s fuel economy?
Honda Motor Europe lists 30.2 km/L in WMTC mode for the 2022 European CB300R, equivalent to about 70.9 U.S. miles per U.S. gallon by unit conversion. Honda Poland published the same WMTC figure for its 2022 specification. These are regional, model-year-specific standardized figures; neither source establishes an EPA MPG rating for the 2026 U.S. model or predicts an individual rider’s fuel economy.
Honda Motor Europe also says that the 2022 bike can cover more than 320 km on a full tank. Treat that as Honda’s range claim for that market and model context, not a guaranteed distance for every rider or a range figure for the current U.S. model. What Honda lists for the 2026 U.S. CB300R
Honda’s current U.S. model page presents the CB300R as an everyday commuter and lists a 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, six-speed manual transmission, 2.6-gallon fuel capacity, 316-pound curb weight, 31.6-inch seat height and standard ABS. It does not list an MPG estimate in the available specifications. The compact engine and modest weight are useful context for a commuter, but they are not a measured fuel-economy result.

Honda says the current model uses an iridium spark plug to increase fuel efficiency, but it does not quantify the effect. That is Honda’s design explanation, not a stated MPG gain. See the 2026 Honda CB300R page and Honda’s CB300R feature page.
Why the WMTC number is not a U.S. MPG guarantee
The 30.2 km/L figure belongs to a 2022 European-market bike tested in WMTC mode. A test-cycle result is useful for understanding a standardized measurement, but it does not mean a U.S. rider will see the same economy in stop-and-go commuting, on faster roads, or under different riding and maintenance conditions. The available Honda U.S. page does not provide a corresponding MPG number, and the sources do not establish a directly comparable figure for the 2026 U.S. model.

For an estimate that reflects your own use, record the fuel added and distance traveled across several fill-ups, using the same units and a consistent method. Treat the result as your riding average, not as a Honda or EPA rating.
Does the CB300R make sense as a commuter?
Honda explicitly positions the CB300R for everyday commuting. Its listed 316-pound curb weight, 31.6-inch seat, six-speed transmission and 2.6-gallon capacity help describe the motorcycle’s size and setup, but suitability depends on the rider, route and local traffic. A small tank also means that the published European range claim should not be treated as a guarantee for U.S. commuting.

Honda says standard ABS can help with controlled stops in less-than-ideal conditions such as wet pavement. ABS is a safety feature, not a fuel-economy feature; it does not eliminate the need to ride for road and weather conditions.
Chain maintenance is part of ownership
The 2025 U.S. specification sheet identifies an O-ring-sealed chain final drive. Chain upkeep is therefore part of routine ownership; follow the owner’s manual for inspection, cleaning, lubrication and adjustment intervals. Honda notes that the specification figures are preliminary and subject to change. The 2025 details should not be mistaken for a separate fuel-economy specification for the 2026 model.
