HJC lists DOT FMVSS 218 and Snell M2020 approval, with an important exception: size 3XL is DOT only. Two reviewers praised aspects of comfort, airflow or quietness, while noting fit and usability tradeoffs. Their experiences are useful context, not a guarantee of how the helmet will fit or perform for you.
What the HJC i10 offers
HJC describes the i10 as the successor to the CL-17. Its U.S. product page lists an advanced polycarbonate shell, a removable Multicool interior with moisture-wicking and quick-drying fabric, grooves for eyeglasses, and an Advanced Channeling Ventilation System intended to direct airflow through the helmet. Those are manufacturer descriptions rather than independent performance measurements. HJC’s i10 product page
The i10 is also compatible with SMART HJC 20B and 10B Bluetooth systems, which HJC identifies as separately sold accessories. They are not included with the helmet. HJC lists a warranty for manufacturing defects of up to three years from purchase or five years from manufacture; check the terms for the particular helmet and purchase. HJC’s i10 product page
Certification depends on size
HJC says the i10 meets or exceeds DOT FMVSS 218 and is Snell M2020 approved, but specifies that size 3XL is DOT only. Check the label and certification for the exact size and market you are buying rather than assuming the same approval applies to every size or region. HJC’s product-page wording is the basis for this summary; it is not an independent check of a certifier’s current records. HJC’s i10 product page

What reviewers reported on the road
Fit and comfort
Jenny Smith’s March 2020 review for Rider Magazine described the fit as intermediate oval leaning slightly toward round oval. She reported no hot spots in her test. Don Williams, reviewing for Ultimate Motorcycling in November 2019, described a plush feel but found the i10 tighter than other HJC helmets in the same nominal size and recommended professional, in-person fitting. These are individual impressions, not a universal fit profile. Rider Magazine’s review · Ultimate Motorcycling’s review
Ventilation and controls
Williams reported airflow through the top vents and useful chin ventilation, while finding the center forehead vent less effective. Smith found the chinbar and forehead vents easy to use with gloves, but sometimes had difficulty finding or operating the top vents while wearing thicker gloves. Vent performance and control access can vary with a rider, glove choice, and conditions; neither account establishes a guaranteed result. Rider Magazine’s review · Ultimate Motorcycling’s review

Noise, shield and sun visor
Williams described the helmet as quiet during his test and reported tool-free shield removal. Smith liked the shield’s central tab but wished for a smaller initial opening for anti-fog use. Both reviewers noted the absence of an internal drop-down sun visor, a feature to weigh if you prefer an integrated solution over separate riding eyewear. These comments describe their tests, not a controlled comparison or a promise of noise levels. Rider Magazine’s review · Ultimate Motorcycling’s review
Reported sample weights are not a model-wide figure
The reviewers weighed different sizes in their own tests. These figures are sample-specific, not a claim about every i10 size.

Do not choose an i10 solely from a size chart. HJC’s manual extract says, “The size chart is only for reference,” and calls for an in-person fit check. Because Williams found the i10 tighter than other HJC helmets of the same size, try the exact model on with help from a qualified helmet fitter where possible. A comfortable fit for one reviewer—or a familiar size in another helmet—does not establish the right size for you. HJC i10 user manual · Ultimate Motorcycling’s review

Is the HJC i10 worth considering?
The i10 makes sense to investigate if you want a straightforward full-face helmet with a removable interior, eyewear grooves, ventilation channels and the option of a separately purchased SMART HJC communications system. Before buying, prioritize a correct in-person fit, confirm certification for your size and market, and decide whether the lack of an internal sun visor and the reviewers’ mixed vent-control experiences matter for your riding.
Availability and price need a current seller check. HJC’s U.S. page displayed an i10 STAR variant as sold out when accessed on October 8, 2026; that does not establish stock for every color, size, or retailer. Prices cited in the 2019–2020 reviews are historical, not current offers. HJC’s i10 product page
