Apple is making Formula 1 a cross-service ecosystem, not just a streaming purchase. Beginning with the 2026 season, Apple TV becomes the exclusive U.S. home for live Formula 1 coverage under a five-year partnership. Subscribers can watch every Free Practice session, Qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix live and on demand, while Apple Sports, Apple Music, Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Podcasts, and selected Apple TV programming add scores, audio, travel tools, news, replays, and companion content around the race weekend.
The important distinction is that these services do different jobs. Apple TV carries the live video; Apple Sports follows timing and results; Apple Music supplies announced free live audio and playlists; Apple News and Podcasts handle editorial coverage; and Apple Maps turns selected races and all 24 circuits into location-based discovery experiences.

Apple TV becomes the U.S. live home of F1
For viewers in the United States, the biggest change arrives in 2026: Apple TV is the exclusive destination for the season’s live Formula 1 sessions and races. The announced five-year partnership covers every Free Practice session, Qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix, with live viewing and on-demand access for Apple TV subscribers.

You do not need an Apple-made streaming box to watch. The service is also available through supported smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, Macs, eligible Android devices, and the web at tv.apple.com.

What the Apple TV F1 area includes
Apple is presenting the F1 section as a hub for more than live sessions. Its planned and announced features include:
- Live and on-demand access to Free Practice, Qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix.
- The complete 2026 race calendar.
- Highlights and full race replays.
- Pre-season programming, including explainers for rule changes and new cars.
- Team updates and other editorial coverage.
- Race in 30 recaps designed for fans who want a shorter, spoiler-free way to catch up.
Apple’s F1 viewing page also says that every practice session is available without a subscription and that selected race weekends may receive free access in the Apple TV app. That should not be confused with a free season-long broadcast: the full package, including Qualifying, Sprints, Grands Prix, replays, and the premium viewing tools, is the subscription experience. Free access can also be subject to the specific session or promotion available when you watch.
A more technical live presentation
Apple and Formula 1 are positioning the live production as a technical upgrade for fans who want more than the conventional world feed. The announced presentation supports 4K with Dolby Vision, 5.1 surround sound, and English and Spanish commentary, subject to compatible devices and home-theater equipment.
The bigger change is the number of alternate feeds available alongside the main broadcast. Formula 1 says Apple TV can offer up to 30 additional live feeds, including:
- Driver onboard cameras.
- Real-time telemetry and timing.
- Driver Tracker.
- A mixed onboard feed.
- Podium feeds following the drivers running first, second, and third.
- Team radio and other race-focused views through the premium F1 experience.
Multiview lets viewers watch up to four live feeds at once. Apple and Formula 1 describe both preconfigured team layouts and customizable layouts, allowing a viewer to combine the main broadcast with selected onboard cameras, timing, or telemetry. The documented Multiview device support includes Apple TV 4K, iPad, and Vision Pro.
F1 TV Premium is included for U.S. Apple TV subscribers
Apple’s arrangement also connects its subscription with Formula 1’s own premium product. U.S. Apple TV subscribers receive access to F1 TV Premium at no additional cost after linking their Apple Account.
Formula 1 describes F1 TV Premium as including custom Multiview, UHD, team radio, and related premium features. On Apple devices, the F1 TV app also provides access through the Apple TV subscription to other Formula 1 series and events, including Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy, and Porsche Supercup.
This is best understood as an included F1 TV Premium entitlement that must be linked, not as proof that every F1 TV feature is automatically available everywhere or on every device. Follow the linking instructions shown in the relevant F1 TV or Apple account flow, and check the current terms if you plan to watch outside the United States.

How the other Apple services fit into race weekend
The broader strategy is easiest to understand as a set of companion layers. Each service has a distinct role rather than duplicating the Apple TV live stream.
| Apple service | What it does for F1 | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| Apple TV | Live and on-demand video for every practice, Qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix, plus replays, highlights, explainers, and Multiview. | Nothing else in the ecosystem provides the complete live video package. |
| Apple Sports | Free live standings, timing updates, session information, Live Activities, schedules, and shortcuts to watch. | The full live race video. |
| Apple Music | Announced free live race audio, driver playlists, DJ mixes, and race-venue music programming. | The paid Apple TV video subscription. |
| Apple News | Personalized F1 articles, highlights, live blogs, and optional breaking-news and result notifications. | The primary live broadcast. |
| Apple Maps | Circuit guides, selected race-weekend details, gates, transit, pedestrian routes, and local recommendations. | Official event instructions or a live race stream. |
| Apple Podcasts | An F1 hub for on-demand Formula 1 and racing podcasts. | Apple Music’s announced live audio broadcasts. |
Apple Sports: live timing without opening the stream
Apple Sports is the free iPhone app layer for fans who want to follow a session without watching video. It provides real-time leaderboards, driver and constructor standings, and live updates for practice, Qualifying, Sprint sessions, and races.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
It also supports Live Activities on the iPhone Lock Screen and Apple Watch, lets fans schedule upcoming races, and provides shareable Grand Prix game cards. The My Sports feature can synchronize a fan’s F1 interests across Apple Sports, Apple TV, and Apple News.
Apple Sports can provide a quick route to watch live on Apple TV, but it is not itself the complete live video broadcaster. That makes it useful when you are commuting, working, watching another screen, or checking the order during a session you are following elsewhere.
Apple Music: free live audio, playlists, and circuit atmosphere
Apple Music is being used to make F1 a race-weekend listening experience as well as a video product. The launch plan includes free live audio broadcasts of races, driver-curated playlists, DJ mixes, and Formula 1: Sounds of the Circuit, a playlist built around the culture and energy of each venue.
The announced driver playlists include selections from Isack Hadjar, Esteban Ocon, and Oliver Bearman. The DJ programming includes work from Anna Lunoe, and Apple Music Radio announced a conversation with Max Verstappen hosted by Ebro Darden.

The free live audio is materially different from the paid live video stream. It is the useful option for someone driving, preparing for a race weekend, attending an event, or wanting commentary without keeping a video stream open. Having access to Apple Music programming does not automatically mean that a listener has the Apple TV live-video subscription.

- High Transparency: High-Transparency maintains the original viewing experience. Oleophobic coating on the surface effectively provents the smudges and fingerprints, providing a clean and clear screen environment.
- Scratch Resistance: This screen protector with special tempered processing, strengthening the surface of the screen protector, makes it more effectively withstand the external scratch, daily wear and tear.
- [Face ID&Apple Pencil Compatible]: Maintain the original response sensitivity, which ensures quick and accurate typing, smooth games and video playing.
- Easiest Installation - removing dust and aligning it properly before actual installation, enjoy your screen as if it wasn't there.
Apple News: personalized reporting and race-result alerts
Apple News adds an editorial and notification layer. The F1 hub includes coverage from publishers such as The Athletic, ESPN, and Motor Sport, along with F1 highlights and race live blogs from The Athletic.
Fans can follow F1 for personalized coverage and opt into notifications for major headlines, breaking news, and race results. Following the sport in Apple News also synchronizes interests with Apple TV and Apple Sports.
Availability may vary by country, publisher, and subscription tier. The announced U.S. integration should not be read as a guarantee that every named publisher or every article format is available in every geography.
Apple Maps: turning circuits into travel and discovery guides
Apple Maps is the most visibly location-based part of the rollout. For selected Grands Prix, Maps can provide custom circuit details such as turn numbers, grandstands, and custom 3D landmarks including the F1 pit building.
For people attending a race, the announced tools can include entry gates, road closures, updated transit schedules, and pedestrian walkways. Apple also created a 2026 Formula 1 Tracks Around the World guide covering all 24 Grand Prix circuits.
The local recommendations are part of the same strategy. For the Australian Grand Prix, Apple created a Hyperlocal guide covering Melbourne cafés, museums, and nightlife. Its Miami update similarly highlighted circuit information and local places to eat, shop, and explore.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThese features are for discovery and convenience, not a replacement for official race-organizer directions. Custom detailed features are described for selected races, so fans should not assume that every circuit will offer the same 3D landmarks, transit information, or venue-specific guide.
Apple Podcasts: the on-demand audio complement
Apple Podcasts has an F1 hub featuring popular Formula 1 and racing podcasts. This is separate from Apple Music’s live race audio. Podcasts is the place for on-demand shows, analysis, interviews, and serialized coverage; Apple Music is where the announced live audio broadcasts, playlists, and DJ mixes sit.

Apple Fitness+: background connection, not a confirmed 2026 F1 workout series
Apple’s original partnership announcement said the company would amplify F1 across Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+, while identifying Apple Sports as the live-updates app.
The later detailed integration announcement did not provide a specific new F1 Fitness+ program in the available material. Apple Fitness+ does have an existing Formula 1 connection: Apple announced a Time to Walk episode featuring driver Yuki Tsunoda. That is useful background, but it should not be presented as a 2026 race-broadcast feature or as evidence of a new F1 workout series.
What happens to Netflix and Drive to Survive?
Apple’s F1 video strategy extends beyond live racing, but it does not make every F1 program an Apple Original. For the first time, U.S. viewers can watch Formula 1: Drive to Survive on both Netflix and Apple TV.
Season 8 covers the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. Formula 1 also says that the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix will stream on both Apple TV and Netflix in the United States.
That is a specific non-exclusive content arrangement. Netflix remains involved with Drive to Survive and the announced Canadian Grand Prix availability, but Netflix is not the season-wide live U.S. broadcaster for every practice session, Qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix. Apple TV remains the exclusive live home for the full 2026 F1 season in the United States.

For a big-screen viewer
- Use Apple TV on a supported smart TV, streaming device, console, or web browser, or consider the Apple TV 4K for a dedicated Apple-based setup.
- Use Multiview on a supported Apple TV 4K, iPad, or Vision Pro if you want the main broadcast alongside timing or onboard feeds.
- Confirm that your television and audio equipment support the picture and sound formats you want. The announced 4K Dolby Vision and 5.1 features are not a promise that every display or speaker system will reproduce them.
For a phone-first or second-screen viewer
- Use Apple Sports for the leaderboard, timing, standings, session alerts, and Live Activities.
- Use Apple Music for the announced live audio and race-weekend playlists.
- Use Apple News for reporting, live blogs, headlines, and result notifications.
For someone attending a Grand Prix
- Check Apple Maps for the specific race’s available circuit details, gates, road closures, transit schedules, and walking routes.
- Use the 2026 circuit guide to discover the track and surrounding area.
- Confirm all access, transport, and entry details with the event organizer. Maps’ custom F1 features are supplementary and are not guaranteed for every race.
For an F1 newcomer
Apple TV’s pre-season explainers, rule-change coverage, team updates, highlights, and Race in 30 recaps provide a more approachable entry point than starting with a full race weekend. Drive to Survive is also available in the U.S. on both Netflix and Apple TV, but it remains a separate documentary-style program rather than a substitute for live coverage.

Devices, software, and account requirements
Apple’s F1 viewing information lists a broad range of ways to watch:
- iPhone running iOS 26.2 or later.
- Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD running tvOS 26.2 or later.
- Supported Macs.
- Supported smart TVs and streaming devices.
- Supported gaming consoles.
- Eligible Android devices.
- A web browser at tv.apple.com.
Model support can differ among smart TVs, consoles, streaming devices, and Android hardware, so checking the current Apple TV compatibility information is important before race day. The service also supports Family Sharing with up to five other family members, according to Apple’s viewing information.

- No Bubble: 11 inch screen protector comes with exhaust adhesive that automatically and smoothly connects to the screen without bubbles. And it can almost cover the entire screen and fit well with tablet
- High Definition and High Sensitive: The 0.33 mm thin and high transparency screen protector can retain the high clarity and sensitivity of the original screen
- Easy to Install: Equipped with a complete set of tools, installation is easier. You only need to refer to the instructions or installation video to easily complete the installation
There is another subscription boundary to keep in mind: an Apple TV subscription does not include third-party branded subscription services or content in the Apple TV app that is offered separately for rental or purchase. The F1 coverage described here is the Apple TV partnership package; other content in the app can have separate rules.
Price and free-access caveats
The official April 2026 Apple update listed Apple TV at $12.99 per month and included a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. A February 2026 report also listed a $99 annual option and said Apple TV could be available through Apple One and some carrier deals.
Those prices, trials, bundles, and eligibility rules can change. Check the current checkout page before publication or purchase rather than treating the reported annual price, carrier availability, or free-trial terms as permanent. Apple TV subscriptions and Apple Music access should also be evaluated separately: the existence of free F1 audio programming in Apple Music does not grant the full Apple TV live-video package.
The practical takeaway
Apple’s F1 plan is designed to capture the entire fan journey. Apple TV owns the live race and the premium data feeds. Apple Sports keeps the timing visible when video is inconvenient. Apple Music provides a free audio route and a soundtrack for the weekend. Apple News and Podcasts supply reporting and analysis, while Maps supports circuit discovery and, at selected races, on-site navigation.
That makes the 2026 U.S. launch more than a change of channel. It is an attempt to make Formula 1 a connected Apple experience, while still leaving important boundaries in place: Apple TV is the live-video subscription, Netflix remains involved with specific content, Apple Sports is not a video broadcaster, Maps is not official event control, and Fitness+ does not yet have a confirmed new F1 workout offering.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an Apple device to watch F1 on Apple TV?
No. Apple’s F1 viewing information lists supported smart TVs, streaming devices, gaming consoles, Macs, eligible Android devices, and the web in addition to iPhone and Apple TV hardware. Apple TV 4K is useful for a dedicated big-screen and Multiview setup, but it is not required for every viewer.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Is all 2026 Formula 1 coverage free on Apple TV?
No. Apple says every practice session is available without a subscription and that selected race weekends may receive free access, but the full season package requires the Apple TV subscription. The paid package covers every practice, Qualifying session, Sprint, and Grand Prix live and on demand, along with premium features.
Does Apple Sports stream the full F1 race?
No. Apple Sports is the free score, standings, timing, alert, and shortcut layer. It can help you follow a race and quickly reach live viewing on Apple TV, but it is not the complete live-video broadcast.
Can I watch Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Apple TV?
Yes, U.S. viewers can watch Drive to Survive on both Netflix and Apple TV. Season 8 covers the 2025 championship. That arrangement does not make Netflix the full-season live broadcaster; Apple TV remains the exclusive U.S. live home for the 2026 F1 sessions and races.
Does Apple TV include F1 TV Premium?
U.S. Apple TV subscribers receive access to F1 TV Premium at no additional cost after linking their Apple Account. Formula 1 describes the premium service as including features such as custom Multiview, UHD, and team radio. Availability and linking requirements should be checked in the current app and account flow.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Apple TV is the essential service for live 2026 F1 video in the United States, but Apple’s larger play is the surrounding ecosystem. Sports handles live timing, Music adds free audio and playlists, News and Podcasts deliver coverage, Maps supports circuit discovery and selected race-weekend logistics, and Apple TV folds replays, explainers, and premium feeds into the same F1 hub.
