Driftworks reported that more than 300 Toyota AE86s attended HACHiRoCK!! FESTA 2011, held on September 19 at Sagamiko Resort Pleasure Forest in Japan. That figure is not an audited final count: a participant estimated just under 270. The event was a gathering for AE86 owners to connect and exchange information, with cars, parts and enthusiast displays on site.
What was HACHiRoCK!! FESTA 2011?
HACHiRoCK!! FESTA 2011 was an AE86 owner meet held in the resort’s fourth parking lot. AE86 specialist Tec-Art’s event archive describes its main purpose as expanding connections among owners and exchanging information through the car, more than 20 years after AE86 sales began. The archive lists the Okayama AE86 Festival separately, so the two events should not be confused.
The meet took place on September 19, 2011, a Japanese public holiday, according to Tec-Art’s event archive.
How many AE86s attended?
Driftworks reporter Phil wrote that “over 300 cars” attended. A Japanese participant’s blog gave a lower personal estimate of just under 270 and noted the writer’s entry number was 258. Neither source establishes an official, audited final tally, so the figures are best understood as attributed estimates rather than a settled count.

The “biggest” description also needs qualification. Phil called it one of the biggest AE86 gatherings, but the available event accounts do not establish a comparative ranking proving it was Japan’s largest. What was at the meet?
Phil’s Driftworks report describes a varied collection of Levin and Trueno AE86s, including cars with unusual paint and body modifications. He singled out a supercharged Levin and a heavily modified car he described as making 348 bhp; that power figure is the reporter’s description, not a documented independent measurement.

The comparison shows why a single “largest” claim is difficult to substantiate: a parade count, an attendee estimate and a broader engine-family vehicle total describe different scopes.
