Toyota made the GR Supra’s send-off more than a cosmetic farewell: the final editions bring hardware and setup changes to the brakes, chassis and suspension, with Toyota’s global announcement also citing increased engine output and torque. Toyota called the A90 Final Edition the current model’s culmination and said production of this Supra would end with it. That makes it a substantive, limited farewell—not a new generation or a confirmed promise of a successor.
What Toyota means by the GR Supra’s endgame
In November 2024, Toyota GAZOO Racing announced an updated 3.0-liter GR Supra and the A90 Final Edition. Toyota described the A90 as the current Supra’s culmination and said production of the current model was scheduled to end with it. The announcement also said Toyota would continue honing the Supra through motorsports after production. That is a motorsports commitment, not confirmation of another road car. Toyota’s announcement identified Japan and Europe as planned markets for the A90; Japan’s launch timing was still under consideration, while Europe was planned for spring 2025.
“Final Edition” does not name one globally identical specification. Toyota’s Japan and Europe announcement uses A90 Final Edition; North American materials use MkV Final Edition. The Canadian version discussed below includes a GT4 Style Pack, so its equipment should not be assumed to describe the A90 or every North American car.
What changed on the final GR Supra?
Global A90 Final Edition: a developed version of the existing car
Toyota’s global description lists increased engine output and torque, strengthened brakes and body rigidity, a KW suspension system and high-grip tires. Those are meaningful performance and chassis changes, but Toyota presented them as further development of the current Supra, not a clean-sheet generation. Toyota’s global release gives the engineering overview.

Japan: manual transmission and brake-focused hardware
Toyota’s Japanese release lists an inline-six engine and six-speed manual for the A90 Final Edition. Its announced brake changes include larger Brembo brakes, high-friction pads, drilled floating discs and stainless-steel brake hoses, alongside body and suspension updates. These are Japanese-market details and should not be treated as a universal specification for the MkV sold in North America. Toyota’s Japan release provides that market’s information.
Canada: MkV Final Edition with GT4 Style Pack
Toyota Canada describes its 2026 MkV Final Edition with GT4 Style Pack as building on the manual-transmission car. Listed changes include updated dampers and adaptive variable suspension, stiffer control-arm bushings and rear suspension mount, underbody bracing, and larger front brake hardware. Exterior and cabin details include matte-finish colors, GT4 graphics, a carbon-fiber rear duckbill spoiler with front spats, red seatbelts and a GR camo car cover. Toyota Canada also states 382 horsepower and up to 369 lb-ft of torque for the Canadian 2026 Supra line; those figures are for that line and market, not a substitute for the separate Japanese A90 specification. Toyota Canada’s release lists the Canadian equipment and figures.

How limited is the Final Edition?
The announced quantities refer to different markets and scopes, not a confirmed global production tally.
| Announcement | Quantity | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Toyota global announcement, November 2024 | 300 units | Announced limited run for the A90 Final Edition, with Japan and Europe identified as planned regions. Source |
| Toyota Japan release, March 21, 2025 | 150 units | Allocation for Japan; the lottery for those cars began on the release date. Source |
| Toyota Canada release, 2025 | 25 units | Canadian offering of the 2026 MkV Final Edition with GT4 Style Pack. Source |
Do not add these numbers together: the announcements concern different regional presentations and allocations, and they do not establish a complete worldwide total. Toyota Canada said Final Edition pricing would be announced closer to its on-sale date; its June 2025 release gave prices for regular Premium grades, not the Final Edition. Toyota Canada’s release is the reference for that pricing caveat.

Is Toyota replacing the GR Supra?
The official Toyota announcement reviewed here confirms continued Supra development through motorsports, but does not confirm a successor road car or a launch date. A U.S. specifications page lists 2026 3.0, 3.0 Premium and MkV Final Edition grades, while warning that specifications apply to mainland U.S. vehicles and can vary by region. A listing on that page does not prove a specific car is still available at a dealer. Check local-market information and stock directly. Toyota’s U.S. GR Supra page includes the regional qualification.
On September 8, 2026, Barrett-Jackson announced that Toyota had donated the last-ever GR Supra MkV Final Edition for the 2027 Scottsdale auction, with proceeds to benefit Reach Out WorldWide. The announcement points to a future auction; it is not evidence of a completed sale or a hammer price. Barrett-Jackson’s announcement provides the event details.

Verdict: proper send-off, but not a successor announcement
Whether the farewell feels “too little, too late” depends on the benchmark. If a send-off must introduce a new engine, a clean-sheet generation or a replacement announcement, Toyota has not delivered that in the cited releases. If the standard is a final, limited version with tangible chassis, brake and suspension development—and, in Toyota’s global description, more output and torque—the Final Edition qualifies as a proper send-off. It is an evolved last chapter for the current Supra, not proof of what comes next.
