The “25 miles on 10¢ of electricity” figure was a claim by MyGoPet, Inc. in a July 29, 2009 announcement—not a verified test result or a current charging-cost estimate. The release did not specify the electricity rate, test method, rider weight, or terrain behind the figure.
Where the 25-mile claim came from
MyGoPet, Inc. announced its GoPet Personal Electric Transportation scooter on July 29, 2009. The company said it could travel up to 25 miles per charge for about 10 cents of electricity. The announcement, republished by moto123.com, does not explain how range or electricity cost was measured. Without an electricity tariff and test conditions, the 10-cent figure cannot be applied as a present-day charging cost or reproduced as a fair range estimate.

The release said the charger shut off when the battery was fully charged. It also listed assembly tools, headlight, taillight, horn, and basket as included equipment; seat, folding handlebar, and trailer as options; and a 90-day warranty covering the battery, motor, controller, frame, and charger. These are launch-era details, not confirmation of current parts, availability, or warranty support.
Why the cost and range are not independently established
The announcement gives no electricity price per kilowatt-hour, charging-loss figure, rider load, route, speed profile, battery condition, or measurement method. It therefore supports only the narrower statement that MyGoPet advertised “up to” 25 miles and about 10 cents per charge in 2009. It does not establish the scooter’s independently measured range, or what charging it would cost at a particular home’s current electricity rate.

The release also quotes GoPet General Manager Tom Murphy saying the scooter was faster, went farther on a charge, and was easier to ride than a popular two-wheel personal mobility device. That is promotional comparison, not a result backed by comparative test data in the announcement.
GoPet is not Go-Ped
MyGoPet’s 2009 product should not be confused with Go-Ped. Go-Ped’s company history describes a separate brand and its gas and ESR electric scooter histories, including identification by production generation rather than model year. That history does not verify specifications or availability for the MyGoPet scooter.

What the announcement says about legality
MyGoPet’s release said the scooter complied with most state and local laws for personal mobility devices and advised riders to check local regulations. That statement dates to 2009 and is not current legal guidance. Applicable rules depend on location and may have changed, so check the rules where you intend to ride rather than relying on the old announcement.
