These are comparison-page prices, not dealer transaction quotes, and the second row mixes model years. Manufacturer starting prices also use different fee treatments: Genesis announced the 2026 GV70 at $47,985 before $1,450 freight, while BMW’s 2026 X3 30 xDrive page lists a $51,300 starting MSRP. BMW says its displayed MSRP may differ from the dealer’s sale price and excludes tax, title, license, registration, and adjusted market value. Use the linked Genesis pricing announcement and BMW model page for those manufacturer figures.
For an older but clearly specified example, BMW Group announced the 2025 X3 30 xDrive at $49,500 and the X3 M50 xDrive at $64,100, each before $1,175 destination and handling. Those 2024-announced prices are not current dealer quotes. The core comparison rule is simple: match model year and trim, compare equipment as built, and treat MSRP, advertised price, and out-the-door quote as different figures.

The entry-level powertrains are not identical, but they are the closest starting point for a value comparison: the GV70 2.5T AWD and BMW X3 30 xDrive.

Performance versions are a separate comparison
The GV70 3.5T uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 375 hp. BMW’s X3 M50 uses a 3.0-liter inline-six with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology and 393 hp; BMW lists a 4.4-second 0–60 mph estimate for it, also subject to variation. These are performance alternatives, not like-priced substitutes for the base trims. Compare their actual prices and equipment rather than assuming the entry-model price gap applies.
Which one gives you more equipment?
The GV70’s 2026 update puts a 27-inch OLED display across the instrument cluster and infotainment area. Genesis also identifies enhanced voice recognition, over-the-air updates, Digital Key, Terrain Mode, and adjustable ambient lighting as standard equipment in its announcement. Its listed safety and convenience features include collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, surround-view monitor, rear cross-traffic avoidance, parking distance warning, and Highway Drive Assist. Bang & Olufsen audio is available. Check the exact trim’s standard and optional equipment before comparing prices; a feature listed for the model line is not necessarily included on every build.

BMW Group’s 2024 announcement for the 2025 X3 describes a BMW Curved Display, Interaction Bar, BMW Operating System 9 with QuickSelect, and standard electrically adjustable heated sport seats upholstered in Veganza. Leather and other interior options are available. These are specifically 2025 model-year details and should not be assumed to describe later X3s. See the manufacturer’s 2025 X3 announcement.
As a review judgment rather than a measured result, The Car Connection characterizes the X3 as leaning toward efficiency and a roomier cabin, while the GV70 emphasizes styling, premium technology, and performance. It flags rear-seat and cargo space in the GV70, as well as a firmer ride in Sport models, as trade-offs. If passenger space or ride comfort is decisive, assess the exact versions in person.

Which SUV uses less fuel?
The comparison pages list better fuel economy for the base X3: 27 city/33 highway mpg for the 2025 X3 30 xDrive, versus 20 city/28 highway mpg for the 2026 GV70 2.5T AWD. The Car Connection lists 18 city/25 highway mpg for GV70 3.5T variants. Car and Driver’s 2026 comparison also displays 27/33 mpg for the X3 and 20/28 mpg for the base GV70.
Because the figures come from comparisons that may vary by model year and configuration, verify the exact vehicle’s EPA label before estimating fuel costs. Your annual cost also depends on mileage and local fuel prices.

Does the GV70 warranty make it a better value?
Car and Driver’s comparison table lists BMW coverage at 4 years/50,000 miles for both basic and powertrain warranties, and Genesis coverage at 5 years/60,000 miles basic and 10 years/100,000 miles powertrain. That is a meaningful difference in the listed terms, but confirm current official coverage, exclusions, and eligibility—especially for a subsequent owner—before assigning it a dollar value.
Which one should you choose?
- Consider the GV70 2.5T if its equipment, cabin presentation, and listed warranty coverage matter more to you than the X3’s higher listed fuel economy. Confirm the specific trim includes the features you want.
