Its sub-$14,000 figure is a conversion of its China-market launch price, not a confirmed US price. The SUV is a plug-in hybrid, and its electric-only range depends on the trim.
Is the Starship 7 really an 882-mile car?
In the broad sense, yes: launch coverage reported a maximum combined range of 1,420 km, or about 882 miles, with a full fuel tank and a full battery. That figure combines petrol and electric driving and is reported on the CLTC cycle. It is not an electric-only range or a guarantee of how far a driver will travel in everyday conditions.
CLTC is the test-cycle label used in the Chinese reporting. The available sources do not establish an official EPA range for the Starship 7, so the 1,420 km figure should not be treated as directly equivalent to a US EPA rating. CarNewsChina’s December 2024 launch report gives the combined-range claim.
How far can it travel on electricity alone?
Geely’s specification table lists two electric-only range options for the original lineup: 55 km and 120 km. Those are distinct from the 1,420 km combined figure. The specification table does not state a publication date in the retrieved document, so these figures describe the configurations it lists rather than every Starship 7 currently offered.

Geely’s current product page lists later variants with 130 km and 135 km electric-range figures. That change matters when comparing a particular car: check its model year and trim instead of assuming the original 55 km or 120 km specification applies to every version. Geely’s specification table and current Starship 7 product page show the respective figures.
What does “under $14,000” mean?
It refers to the China-market launch price translated into US dollars, not a verified US retail offer. CarNewsChina described the launch starting price as about $13,700. A database listing for the 2025 trims gives launch prices of 87,800–120,800 yuan; its displayed dollar equivalents are currency conversions. Neither figure establishes a US sticker price, import cost, taxes, or what a buyer elsewhere would pay.

Can buyers outside China get one at that price?
The cited sources do not establish availability, final local pricing, taxes, or homologation in markets outside the relevant Chinese market. They also do not establish a target-market warranty or servicing arrangement. A buyer considering one abroad would need to confirm the exact market, model year, trim, local approval, import status, and dealer support before treating a Chinese launch price or range figure as relevant to a purchase.
