Free car wallpapers are available from automakers and independent publishers, with some offering separate files for phones and computers. Choose an image shaped for your screen, download the full-size file, and check that publisher’s terms: a free personal wallpaper is not automatically free to repost, edit, or use commercially.
Where to find free car wallpapers
These sources illustrate the range of options. Galleries and their terms can change, so check the page for the specific image you want.
- Honda Global offers car-related desktop wallpapers at 1920×1080 and smartphone versions at 1438×2592. Its page explains how to open and save a full-size image.
- Saab’s newsroom points to wallpapers for mobile phones and desktop computers. Saab also describes a separate high-resolution image bank with photo-credit details.
- Škoda Storyboard allows wallpaper and screensaver use for non-commercial purposes under its stated terms.
- Toyota Motor Corporation’s downloadable-assets library permits editorial or personal non-commercial use under its terms. It is an asset library, not a gallery where every image is designated as a wallpaper.
- Batman Garage describes free personal-use downloads in desktop and mobile formats, with image-specific credits and terms.
Choose a wallpaper that fits your screen
Start with orientation and aspect ratio, not just the pixel count. A landscape image may be cropped heavily on a portrait phone; a phone image may look stretched or poorly framed on a desktop. For a lock screen, also consider where the clock and icons cover the picture. An ultrawide image can reduce cropping on a similarly shaped monitor, but no file is guaranteed to fit every display exactly.
Published dimensions are examples, not universal device requirements. Honda lists 1920×1080 desktop and 1438×2592 smartphone versions. Batman Garage says most of its desktop files are 5568×3712; its collection also includes an ultrawide image at 3440×1440 and a phone example at 1215×2160. Check the dimensions and preview of the particular file before saving it.

- Phone: Look for a portrait or mobile-specific version, then preview the crop with lock-screen elements in place.
- Standard desktop: Prefer a landscape image with enough pixels for your screen; matching the screen’s proportions helps avoid unwanted cropping.
- Ultrawide monitor: Look for a matching ultrawide file if available rather than assuming a standard landscape image will fill the display cleanly.
How to download and set a car wallpaper
Download the full-size image
- Open the wallpaper or image page at the publisher’s site and select the version intended for your device.
- Open the full-size image or download link, rather than saving a small preview, when the publisher provides that option. Honda, for example, describes opening the full-scale image and saving it.
- Save the file to your device, then check its dimensions and preview how it is framed before setting it as the background.
Set it as your background
Batman Garage lists these general device workflows. Menu labels can vary by operating-system version and device:
- Windows: Right-click the saved image and choose the desktop-background option.
- macOS: Add the image through Wallpaper settings.
- iPhone: Open the photo’s share options and choose the wallpaper action.
- Android: Open the image in the gallery and use its wallpaper setting.
Check the image’s usage terms
“Free download” does not mean unrestricted use. Rights differ by publisher and sometimes by image, so read the terms attached to the file before reposting, editing, sharing it online, using it in advertising, or incorporating it into a product.
