What is the North American Ford Focus RS?
This article covers the third-generation Focus RS sold in North America for model years 2016–2018. The RS was also sold in other markets, where prices, equipment, ratings, and availability could differ. North American models were five-door hatchbacks with a manual transmission and all-wheel drive.

How much horsepower does a Ford Focus RS have?
Ford rated the 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder at 350 hp at 6,000 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm. Ford’s technical sheet says those ratings were achieved using 93-octane fuel. Ford’s 2017 technical specifications list the engine alongside a six-speed manual transmission.
All-wheel drive and drive modes
Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring is a defining part of the RS. Ford says the system can shift up to 100 percent of available torque to the rear axle under certain circumstances and direct all available rear-axle torque to either rear wheel. That describes a system capability, not a continuous torque split. Ford’s product material also lists Brembo brakes and Normal, Sport, Track, and Drift drive modes. How fast is the Focus RS?
Ford announced a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 4.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 165 mph. These are manufacturer-claimed figures, not independent test results. The acceleration figure is specifically for 0–62 mph; it should not be relabeled as a 0–60 mph time. Ford’s launch announcement gives both figures; Cars.com also reports the 0–62 mph claim in its 2016 Focus RS overview.
How much did a Ford Focus RS cost?
Car and Driver lists a $41,995 MSRP for the 2018 Focus RS. That is the original U.S. new-car MSRP for that model year, not a current used-car valuation. Car and Driver’s 2018 specifications are the source for that figure.

A dependable current used-price range is not established here. To assess an individual car, compare listings in the same market and consider mileage, condition, title history, modifications, maintenance records, and verified edition and equipment. Cars.com’s 2016 model page gives conflicting starting-price figures—around $37,000 in its overview and $35,900 in a comparison module—so neither should be treated as a definitive base MSRP without further confirmation. Cars.com’s page contains both figures.
What is different about the 2018 Focus RS Limited Edition?
Ford announced the 2018 Limited Edition with a Quaife limited-slip differential. Its announcement specified planned North American availability of 1,000 cars for the United States and 500 for Canada, with deliveries beginning late in 2017. Those were announced allocation figures, not confirmation of how many were ultimately sold or proof that a particular used car is a Limited Edition. Check the specific car’s market and equipment rather than relying on a listing title. Ford’s Limited Edition announcement describes the differential and planned allocations.

What tires fit a Ford Focus RS?
Ford’s 2017 specification sheet lists Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in 235/35 R19 as standard and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires in the same size as an option. Before replacing tires, confirm the car’s model year and actual wheel setup, then match the tire’s fitment, load and speed ratings, and intended use to the vehicle.
