Ford cut the U.S. price of its BlueCruise hands-free highway driver-assistance plans effective October 1, 2024. Ford’s current U.S. pricing page, checked October 4, 2026, still lists the annual plan at $495 and the monthly plan at $49.99. It also lists a $2,495 one-time purchase, available only when buying a vehicle from a Ford dealer. The 2024 announcement did not state the previous prices, so the size of the reduction cannot be calculated from Ford’s announcement.
How much does Ford BlueCruise cost?

These prices are from Ford’s current U.S. BlueCruise pricing page, accessed October 4, 2026. Ford says pricing may change. The one-time purchase is not presented as an option to add later to an already-owned vehicle.
What changed in Ford’s price cut?
Ford announced that its new U.S. prices of $495 annually and $49.99 monthly would take effect October 1, 2024. The announcement called this a price reduction but did not provide the former annual or monthly prices, so it does not establish the dollar amount or percentage saved. It also described a 90-day complimentary trial in specified new-vehicle purchase circumstances. Ford’s current pricing page describes a three-month trial at the warranty start date for the offers shown. Trial eligibility and included plans depend on the specific vehicle; check its details in your Ford account or app.

Which vehicles can use BlueCruise?
Availability depends on model year and configuration, not just the name on the vehicle. Ford currently lists Mustang Mach-E, F-150, F-150 Lightning, Expedition, and Explorer among the vehicle lines with BlueCruise availability. That list does not establish that every model year or trim is equipped or eligible.

Check the vehicle’s equipment and BlueCruise plan or trial status through your Ford account or app. If you are shopping for a vehicle, ask the dealer to confirm eligibility for the specific VIN and whether the feature is included, on trial, or requires a plan.
How BlueCruise works—and what it does not do
BlueCruise is Level 2 driver assistance. On designated divided highways called Blue Zones, it adds hands-free steering and lane-centering support to Adaptive Cruise Control. Ford says its Blue Zone network covers more than 130,000 miles of North American roads; the system is not available on every road.

Hands-free does not mean driver-free. Ford requires drivers to keep their eyes on the road and be ready to take control, and states that BlueCruise is not full self-driving technology. See Ford’s BlueCruise safety and FAQ information.
When BlueCruise may not engage or may disengage
Even inside a Blue Zone, operation depends on conditions the vehicle can detect and interpret. Ford identifies weather, visibility, sensors, lane markings, and road geometry as factors that can limit use.

- Rain, fog, or snow can affect visibility or system operation.
- Blocked sensors can prevent the system from working as intended.
- Faded or obscured lane markings, construction, and some curves can make the road difficult for the system to interpret.
- The driver must remain attentive and take control when prompted or when conditions require it.
Ford’s guidance does not make BlueCruise a substitute for attentive driving; follow the vehicle’s instructions and take control whenever needed.

There is no universally best plan without knowing the vehicle’s trial terms and how long you expect to use BlueCruise. Compare costs over the period you expect to keep the vehicle or use the feature, and consider how much of your highway driving is in Blue Zones.

Check the offer and trial attached to your specific vehicle before comparing totals. Ford’s 2026 report on BlueCruise use says U.S. hands-free miles rose 88% and trips rose 50% in calendar year 2025 compared with 2024. Those are Ford-reported usage figures, not independent measures of safety or customer satisfaction.
