Ferrari says the Purosangue Handling Speciale (HS) is tuned to feel more controlled and respond more sharply than the standard car. But the key distinction is that the HS has not been independently evaluated in the driving reports cited here: its headline agility claims remain Ferrari’s, not a road-test verdict. The standard Purosangue has drawn praise for its body control, which makes the HS’s promise plausible—but does not prove it.
What is the Purosangue Handling Speciale?
Ferrari introduced the Handling Speciale configuration on April 29, 2026, describing it as an option available on request for the Purosangue. It keeps the car’s core layout: a naturally aspirated V12 and four seats. HS is a sharper configuration of the existing vehicle, not a new model architecture.
Ferrari’s official announcement describes changes to suspension calibration, shift behavior, cabin sound and trim. The manufacturer’s published figures and descriptions should not be confused with independent measurements or an HS test drive.
What does Ferrari say the HS changes?
Active suspension and body movement
Ferrari says the active-suspension recalibration is designed to reduce body movements by 10% and give the car a more compact feel. The company also describes more direct reactions through successive corners and rapid direction changes. These are Ferrari’s claims; no independent HS test result in the available driving coverage verifies the percentage or the claimed handling effect.

Shifts and drive modes
Ferrari says revised shift strategies deliver quicker responses and more decisive gear changes, particularly in Race and ESC Off. In manual mode, it says the more sporting shift character is especially noticeable above 5,500 rpm. That figure is a manufacturer-stated threshold, not a measured acceleration or lap-time result.
Cabin sound and identifying details
A dedicated cabin-sound setting makes the V12 more pronounced at start-up and under acceleration, according to Ferrari. HS exterior identifiers include diamond-cut-finish wheels, carbon-fibre side shields, matte-black exhaust tips, a black rear Prancing Horse emblem and satin-finished Ferrari script. A dedicated plaque marks the cabin. Ferrari says these styling details do not change the car’s proportions.

What do the published specifications say?
Ferrari’s HS technical data lists the following figures. They are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent HS test.
| Specification | Ferrari’s HS figure |
|---|---|
| Engine | 6,496 cc, 65-degree naturally aspirated V12 |
| Maximum power | 725 cv at 7,750 rpm |
| Maximum torque | 716 Nm from 3,000 to 5,750 rpm |
| Maximum engine speed | 8,250 rpm |
| Dry weight | 2,033 kg |
| Weight distribution | 49% front / 51% rear |
| Fuel tank | 100 litres |
| Boot capacity | 473 litres |
| 0–100 km/h | 3.3 seconds |
| Top speed | Above 310 km/h |
The standard Purosangue specification sheet also lists 725 cv, 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and a top speed above 310 km/h, but reports maximum torque as 716 Nm at 6,250 rpm rather than the HS release’s 3,000–5,750 rpm range. Those are differently reported figures in Ferrari’s documents; they should not be silently treated as identical torque claims. See Ferrari’s standard Purosangue technical specifications and the HS announcement and technical table.

Why does the standard Purosangue already seem unusually agile?
The standard car’s independent reviews provide context for the HS proposition, but they do not establish how the HS drives. Car and Driver says it was impressed by the standard Purosangue’s handling and performance on its initial test drive, and describes the standard active suspension as controlling body roll and lowering ride height under hard driving. Its Purosangue model overview is about the standard car, not an HS evaluation.
Autocar likewise praises the standard car’s road manners and body control, while noting its width and visibility as practical drawbacks. Autocar explicitly says it had not formally road-tested the Purosangue with its usual telemetry equipment, so its impressions should not be read as instrumented performance results. Its standard Purosangue review does not test the HS.

Has anyone independently tested the HS?
Car and Driver’s April 29, 2026 report on the HS says the outlet had not yet driven that configuration and would need to experience it. The independent driving impressions above concern the standard Purosangue. They cannot confirm whether the HS’s suspension tuning makes it measurably more agile, how it affects ride comfort, or whether its revised shifts change performance.
That leaves a clear answer to the title’s question: the standard Purosangue has been described by reviewers as unusually controlled for a large, four-seat V12 car, while Ferrari says the HS sharpens that character. Whether it is actually more agile on the road remains unverified until independent HS testing is available. The Car and Driver HS report records that publication’s not-yet-driven status.

Availability, price and maintenance
Ferrari says the HS is available on request. Car and Driver reported on April 29, 2026 that Ferrari had not announced US availability or pricing at that time; that dated report does not establish current market status. For current local availability and price, contact an authorized Ferrari dealer rather than relying on an inferred figure.
Ferrari says the Purosangue HS is covered by its seven-year Genuine Maintenance programme, with regular intervals of either 20,000 km or once per year, through the official dealer network across markets. Local programme terms should be confirmed with Ferrari. The maintenance details appear in the Ferrari announcement.
